Chapter 88 - 087: Can I have a reward then?

"Hmm." Shi Weiqing responded, his voice even raspier now, his eyes tinged with a deep red at the corners. "Zhizhi, do I still have to wait a long time?"

"Wait for what?" Yu Zhi didn't quite catch his meaning. She lowered her gaze to look at the top of his head, her eyes filled with confusion.

Shi Weiqing rubbed her waist gently, his actions laced with ambiguity. "Wait for you to grow up."

"I'm not a child." In truth, she was only a year younger than him.

Shi Weiqing: "..."

He let out a soft sigh. It seemed he would have to wait a while longer for this young girl to come to her senses.

"Zhizhi, why did you suddenly decide to come back today?" Shi Weiqing switched the topic, deciding not to dwell on the scratching itch in his heart.

At the mention of this, Yu Zhi immediately leaped off him, dragged her suitcase to him, opened it, and took out all of her treasures.

When she came across the silk box hidden at the bottom of the suitcase, she hesitated before speaking. "That plum blossom wash..."

Shi Weiqing leaned back, lazily crossing his legs as if he didn't understand what she was referring to. "The plum blossom wash? What about it?"

"You said you'd give it to me." Yu Zhi clutched the silk box to her chest and pouted, pointing to the other objects scattered on the carpet. "If I return all of that, I'll have nothing left."

She cuddled the plum blossom wash like a protective child, fearful he'd take it back. The sight of her was adorably endearing.

A shadow flickered across Shi Weiqing's eyes. He curled his fingers slightly, his voice carrying a coaxing tone. "Zhizhi, come here."

Yu Zhi hesitated for a moment but eventually stood up and walked toward him, though her hands held tightly onto the silk box, refusing to let go.

When she reached him, Shi Weiqing grabbed her arm and pulled her downward, bringing her back into his embrace.

He lightly pinched her cheek, his forehead touching hers. "Everything of mine is yours, including me."

From his eyes, Yu Zhi could see deep affection, a silent promise, and emotions she couldn't quite decipher.

Her lips curved into a radiant arc, as if the emptiness in her heart was completely filled.

"Then everything of mine can also be yours." Always letting the other person give everything didn't feel quite right, after all.

"I only need one Zhizhi, and that's enough." Shi Weiqing pinched her cheeks outward till her face puffed up like a bun.

Thinking about the gift still upstairs, he asked in a low voice, "Did you finish today's assignments?"

"Mm-hmm, not a single question left blank."

"Then shall we go upstairs and see your reward?" Shi Weiqing easily scooped her up in his arms and brought her to her room.

In the center of the coffee table sat a black square box. Under Shi Weiqing's guidance, Yu Zhi bent over cautiously to open it.

Upon catching sight of the heart-shaped necklace inside, Yu Zhi couldn't help but gasp. "I know this necklace. Is it the King's Heart?"

The King's Heart—a heart-shaped necklace crafted with gemstones and diamonds, featuring 150 small diamonds encasing a rare ruby. Beyond its immense collectible value, it commanded an astronomical price of 18 million dollars on the market.

She had been present at the auction in F Country when it was sold, originally planning to purchase it, but lacking sufficient funds, she watched helplessly as someone else took it away.

"I remember the person who bought this necklace was a middle-aged man. How did it end up with you?" Yu Zhi tilted her head to look at him, her face full of curiosity.

"I bought it from a friend last week." Sitting beside her, Shi Weiqing quirked his brows slightly. "Zhizhi, you've been to F Country?"

He already knew where the item had come from but hadn't expected her to have been there at the time.

Out of nowhere, an inexplicable sense of defeat arose within Shi Weiqing. It bothered him that he hadn't been part of her past and seemed to know so little about her life before him.

"Mm-hmm, I stayed there for a few days."

Yu Zhi delicately lifted the necklace with her hands, carefully caressing it. Her eyes, illuminated by the dazzling glimmers of the diamonds, sparkled even brighter.

Her happiness was completely unrestrained, her joy so evident that she focused solely on the necklace, barely sparing a glance for the person beside her.

Shi Weiqing's dissatisfaction grew. Wrapping his arm around her waist, he tried to regain her attention. "Zhizhi, where else have you been in the past? Who did you go with?"

Though he wanted her present and future, he found himself longing to know everything about her past as well.

"Besides F Country, only Australia, and I went with friends."

"Male or female?"

"Both."

Shi Weiqing let out a soft "mm" in response, a faint shadow flickering in his dark and deep-set eyes hidden beneath his lashes.

He murmured quietly, "Zhizhi, when will you introduce me to your friends?"

Yu Zhi shifted her gaze from the necklace to his elegant features. "They haven't returned to the country yet. Just wait a little longer."

"Alright." Seeing her agree without a trace of hesitation, Shi Weiqing felt much better, the corners of his lips curling upward.

He took the necklace from her hands and unclasped it. "Let me put it on you."

Shi Weiqing brushed aside her hair and circled behind her, fastening the necklace around her slender, swan-like neck.

There was no denying Shi Weiqing had excellent taste. The red color suited her perfectly, its vibrant hue complementing her already fair complexion, making her skin now resemble exquisite porcelain.

He gently pressed a kiss to the side of her neck, unabashedly praising, "Zhizhi, you're absolutely stunning."

Yu Zhi lowered her head to admire the necklace. Her light caramel eyes sparkled like brilliant starlight, radiant and captivating.

She clung to Shi Weiqing's arm. "Thank you, I love it." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"Then, may I ask for a reward?"

"What do you want?"

Shi Weiqing's finger tapped lightly on his left cheek, leaving his intentions unmistakable.

After sneaking a cheek kiss from her, he shamelessly pointed to his right cheek next.

And then his eyes, his nose, his chin, and finally, his lips.

"Is that enough now?" Yu Zhi tilted her head, her gaze holding a faint trace of grievance.

Shi Weiqing's eyes glimmered with amusement as he nodded. He glanced at the clock. "It's time for you to finish your homework."

Yu Zhi: "..."

Homework. Again.

Letting out a long sigh, Yu Zhi softly called his name. "Shi Wei."

"No."

Just two firm words made her swallow the rest of her sentence.

In the end, no matter how unwilling, she could only obediently sit on the carpet and pick up that damn pen.

Rainy night.

Outside the window, lightning flashed and thunder rolled, mingling with the soft yet persistent drumming of rain against the glass.

Blue and white lights filtered through the curtains, casting flickering shadows on the floor.

"Knock, knock, knock—"

Yu Zhi, who had closed her eyes in preparation for sleep, sat up slowly when she heard the knocks at the door.

Shi Weiqing, clad in a loose robe, quietly approached. On his way in, he locked the door behind him.

His tousled hair stuck up in a few places, and as he ran his hand through it, his exquisite collarbones and broad chest were casually exposed.

"What are you doing here?" As he sat on the edge of the bed, Yu Zhi arched an eyebrow at him.
