The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 33 - 0: Let her have her fill of fun
Chapter 33 - 033: Let her have her fill of fun
He placed his palm over the keypad lock, and with a single "beep," the secret room automatically opened.
Shi Wei could be considered a collector. Whether it was jadeite, gemstones, paintings and calligraphy, or porcelain vases—if he liked it and had an eye for it, he would buy it all without hesitation.
It could be said that among the upper-class families in the Imperial City, his collection of treasures was second to none.
The secret room wasn't that large, only around fifty or sixty square meters, but the items displayed inside were worth a fortune.
At the center of the room stood a crystal platform, specially used to display jadeite.
On the left were scattered gemstones, while the right side housed various scholar's utensils.
The walls were covered with paintings and calligraphy, not only works from the Song and Ming Dynasties but also rare originals by deceased masters.
Compared to the items outside, everything in this secret room left Yu Zhi astounded, unable to tear her gaze away for a long time.
She suddenly felt like the pile of things she had worked so hard to bring home didn't seem as appealing anymore.
Shi Wei led her to the crystal platform and pointed at the pile of jadeite. "Do you see any you like?"
"Huh?" Yu Zhi blinked in confusion. Was he implying that if she picked one she liked, he'd give it to her?
As it turned out, Shi Wei had brought her here precisely for that reason.
Rather than letting the young lady risk sneaking into someone else's home for treasures, it was better to offer her the treasures directly and let her enjoy them to her heart's content.
"Pick one," Shi Wei instructed without even batting an eye, as if he were offering her something of no value at all.
Yu Zhi: "..."
She glanced at the jadeite, then at Shi Wei, her delicate, beautiful eyebrows arching slightly.
Finally, she forced out a sentence: "Forget it, this doesn't feel right."
Though this person was indeed a bit foolish, taking advantage of others wasn't her style.
Before he could respond, she earnestly patted his shoulder and said, "Don't trust people too easily."
If he hadn't run into someone like her, the items in this room might already have been plundered clean.
Shi Wei chuckled lightly. "It's no problem. Consider it my gift to you as a token of gratitude."
"A token of gratitude?"
"Yes, so don't be polite with me."
"You're really letting me pick? No regrets?"
"I'll never regret it."
"..."
Since he'd said this much, Yu Zhi felt she couldn't refuse any longer.
She chose an extremely small piece of jadeite, held it in her palm, and toyed with it for a while. "I'll take this one."
It hadn't been polished yet and could be fashioned into a ring or pendant.
"Nothing else?" Shi Wei gestured toward the surrounding items. "Do you see anything else you like?"
"Nope," Yu Zhi quickly shook her head. "Let's head out."
She was afraid that if she stayed here any longer, she wouldn't be able to resist taking more.
Shi Wei chuckled. "If you ever want something, come find me again."
No sooner had he finished speaking than he regretted it instantly—the phrasing was far too suggestive.
He sneaked a glance at Yu Zhi's expression and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw no reaction.
The two walked downstairs side by side. Yu Zhi rummaged through her backpack, pulled out a few pieces of candy, and held them out to him, palm open. "This is for you."
Her expression was so serious it was as if she were giving him something incredibly important.
"Thank you." Shi Wei picked a candy wrapped in blue packaging, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth.
Within seconds, the sweet fragrance burst onto his taste buds. He had no idea where she'd bought this candy, but it was the most delicious he'd ever tasted.
"I should head out," Yu Zhi said as she settled her backpack on her shoulders and pointed to the clock in the living room.
After spending the evening here, it was already close to ten o'clock.
Though the people at her place didn't care much about her comings and goings, staying at his house too long still didn't seem appropriate.
Shi Wei paused briefly, his grip on the candy tightening: "I'll walk you out."
Just as Yu Zhi stepped one foot out the door, Shi Wei tugged at the strap of her backpack.
He looked at her silently for quite a while before finally speaking: "Do you have time tomorrow?"
His deep, soulful eyes seemed tinged with a hint of anticipation, but more than that, an urgent yearning.
Yu Zhi suddenly found herself unable to meet his gaze. Her eyelashes trembled slightly: "I haven't done my homework yet."
Ah, right—she was still a third-year high school student, and academics were clearly her priority for now.
Shi Wei slowly released his hand, and then, just as it was about to lower completely, he clenched his fist again.
Noticing the subtle shift in his mood, Yu Zhi raised an eyebrow. "Are you scared?"
"Huh?"
Shi Wei seemed puzzled, but his reaction took on a completely different meaning in Yu Zhi's eyes.
"Don't worry." Yu Zhi sighed softly, stood on tiptoe, and patted his shoulder. "I'll come by tomorrow."
After all, she had taken a piece of jadeite from him. If he was feeling anxious, offering a little protection wasn't too difficult.
Shi Wei: "..."
What a beautiful misunderstanding this was.
**
Early in the morning, a slightly burly man stood in the Shi Family courtyard, clutching a thermos while staring at the tightly shut door.
The northern wind howled from all directions, causing the hem of the man's coat to flutter, creating faint arcs in the air.
Chen Cai freed one hand to press the hem down forcefully, but within seconds, it was once again lifted by the wind.
And so he repeated this action over and over, seemingly without tiring.
"Click—"
A soft creak echoed as the door opened.
Chen Cai immediately halted and sprinted forward. "Boss, you're awake?"
Inside the house, the curtains were tightly drawn, and if not for a sliver of light filtering through the gap in the door, the room would have been pitch dark, devoid of any illumination.
Shi Wei leaned against the wall after opening the door, squinting slightly, his expression tinged with drowsiness.
He was still wearing his robe, the collar slightly open, revealing a stretch of pale skin underneath.
His demeanor carried an air of restraint, while the partially concealed expanse invited endless imagination.
"Why are you here so early?"
Shi Wei scratched his head lightly, sending a somewhat impatient glance toward the man.
"I've made you soup," Chen Cai replied with a smile, hoisting the thermos higher to signal him.
Soup again.
Chen Cai, for reasons unknown, seemed to have an odd fixation on preparing soup for him at least a few times a month.
This had reached the point where Shi Wei now felt frustrated whenever he saw a thermos.
"Chen Cai."
Shi Wei's face was utterly expressionless as he called his name: "Do you think I have anything that needs 'supplementing'?"
"Boss, that's not what I meant," Chen Cai chuckled awkwardly, rubbing his nose. "You still don't have a girlfriend, and I'm trying to look out for you."
As he spoke, his small eyes darted up and down Shi Wei's figure.
Shi Wei nearly laughed out of anger, with even his earlier traces of sleepiness evaporating completely in an instant.
He delivered a swift kick to Chen Cai's calf. "You must be tired of living."
If looks could kill, Chen Cai would already be six feet under right now.
"Boss! Boss... I take it back, you win, you always win!" Chen Cai darted three meters away with lightning speed.
