Chapter 1021: Chapter 1021: Hatred (15)

Not long after hitting the road, Yan Sijue stuffed the walkie-talkie into his backpack, seemingly not paying it any mind.

Mu Yiliang silently observed, feeling a slight sense of relief in her heart.

She must hit the mark with a single strike and not give this man a chance to struggle. If he resisted, she would definitely not be his match.

She pondered this silently as she walked up the mountain.

The journey was very quiet, with only the sound of the breeze and faint cicada chirping. Yan Sijue kept holding her hand, walking forward in silence.

Mu Yiliang initially found it strange why this man didn’t speak much. Then she recalled that this was always his demeanor, making it unsurprising.

"I’ve never been to Xiang Mountain before, just heard others say the scenery is beautiful." Silence often feels oppressive, so Mu Yiliang made an effort to find a topic.

Yan Sijue smiled faintly: "I’ve been here a few times before. The scenery is average, but because reaching the summit isn’t easy, even ordinary scenery becomes precious in their eyes."

Mu Yiliang was taken aback and murmured, "So philosophical..."

"Is it?" He chuckled lightly, squeezing her hand, "There’s no road ahead; from here, we start climbing for real."

The path up the mountain had ended. To go further, they had to climb the rocks.

Fortunately, previous travelers had forged a trail, so it was sort of like a stairway. As long as she was careful, this part wasn’t arduous or dangerous.

"I’ll go first." Mu Yiliang was eager to try.

"Go ahead," Yan Sijue smiled, taking her backpack off her shoulders, "Give me the bag."

Mu Yiliang felt a slight stir in her heart, as if some unfamiliar emotion brushed past.

She quickly brushed that emotion aside, composed herself, and started climbing. Though she wasn’t in great shape, she had trained in the past, so her reflexes were quicker than the average person. As a result, her moves were swift at first, showing no sign of struggling. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Yan Sijue, needless to say, his vigor and extraordinary stamina were well known to Mu Yiliang; she wasn’t worried he wouldn’t keep up.

She completed the climb in three minutes, breaking into a light sweat, and when she turned back, her face carried a proud smile.

Yet Yan Sijue appeared at ease, not breaking a sweat, with even his breathing remarkably steady.

He smiled faintly, "What’s up?"

Originally seeking a sense of superiority, Mu Yiliang could only reply sheepishly, "Nothing, where do we climb next?"

Yan Sijue surveyed the terrain and pointed in a direction, "There."

Mu Yiliang immediately climbed in that direction.

After more than ten minutes, they reached halfway up the mountain.

Mu Yiliang was already out of breath, sweating profusely. Her stamina wasn’t lacking to this extent, but she climbed too quickly, making her limbs feel weak.

Yan Sijue put his arm around her, raised an eyebrow with a smile, "Can’t go on?"

"Who says I can’t? I... I’ll be fine after a rest." She sat down on the stone stairs.

Yan Sijue laughed and took out some water from the backpack, handing it to her.

Mu Yiliang took it but couldn’t open it after trying for a while, handing it back awkwardly. Yan Sijue glanced at her and then helped her open the cap.

In that instant, a hint of confusion arose in Mu Yiliang’s heart.

Why was she so determined to kill him in the first place?

It seemed that emotion was particularly strong only in the early morning upon waking, but at this moment, she was instead a bit perplexed.
