The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse-Chapter 427 - 355, Wenshi is a bit wasteful
Chapter 427: Chapter 355, Wenshi is a bit wasteful
Imilo’s actions had no impact on the port.
Once the association’s carriage left, the workers continued their previous duties while quietly discussing the recent events.
The captain of the ship that nearly had ‘Kerim’ board rushed out of the cabin, wiping sweat from his brow and asking the crew about what just happened.
After inquiring about the situation,
and confirming that the association had taken the body away,
he still called everyone out to re-verify each person’s identity.
...
…
Aboard the carriage,
Wu Heng took out the Evil Sword and Space Ring, saying, “Steward, these were found on the body.”
According to the association’s rules, spoils of war are to be chosen first by the person who contributed most.
Even though Wu Heng had wounded the target and provided information on their whereabouts,
it was still Imilo’s two strikes that secured the final victory.
Imilo sat opposite, glanced at the items, and said indifferently, “Keep them for now, let Moya tally them when we get back, and then we’ll split the spoils.”
“Alright,” Wu Heng nodded, placing both items inside his Space Ring.
Then, he continued, “Steward, this ‘Kerim’ seemed familiar with the association’s rules, and now that he’s dead, could that cause any trouble?”
After all, there was still an Inspector Special Envoy on the island.
He may seem inconsequential, but he has inspection duties over associations everywhere.
If he were to take issue, it could indeed pose some problems.
Imilo said, “An incumbent steward has special authority to deal with local emergencies, killing him was within the rules.”
“That’s good to hear!” said Wu Heng with a nod.
The carriage moved on, and the two casually chatted.
They reached the front of the association.
Both men disembarked.
Imilo said, “Take the body for a post-mortem examination.”
“Oh, alright,” Wu Heng nodded and walked towards the morgue up the stone steps on one side.
…
In the cold morgue, several bodies were laid out.
Among them, the Stag Merchant Group steward’s and his lover’s bodies were still placed in their original positions.
As many things were still under investigation, the bodies had not been sent back to the merchant group.
Seeing Wu Heng approach, the two coroners stood up and saluted, “Deputy Steward.”
His suspension notwithstanding, the respect from everyone remained unchanged.
No one could tell when he might be reinstated.
The title remained the same.
“Mhm, here’s a fugitive killed by the steward, named ‘Kerim.’ Verify his identity,” said Wu Heng, bringing out the body wrapped in a straw mat.
The two coroners nodded and together lifted the body onto the metal table; the head rolled out of the straw mat, tumbling to the side.
The coroners retrieved the head.
They then started to unwrap the mat and began the post-mortem examination.
Wu Heng sat down on a wooden chair by the door, watching the coroners work and pondering his next plan.
The turn of events had been fairly favorable.
He’d managed to draw out the hidden enemy and killed them directly,
eliminating a potential danger.
However, the loss was not small, having lost a Level 15 skeleton attendant.
Level 15 skeletons were rare commodities and were previously used for personal protection; to have one killed outright was quite troubling.
Glancing at the body being examined,
he contemplated in his heart.
Tap tap tap~!
Footsteps echoed from the stairway.
Assistant Moya, accompanied by two association investigators, descended the stairs.
He glanced at the morgue and then fixed his gaze on Wu Heng, saying, “The steward said you were planning to conduct a Wenshi, so I’ve brought the investigators to you.”
Wenshi!
By performing the Wenshi, there was a high probability of discovering who hired him to come to the island to kill.
Similarly, it could provide a breakthrough to identify the Stag Commerce Association’s killer.
But as a Necromancer,
much of his power came from collecting bodies.
Even though ‘Kerim’ was slain by Imilo’s two strikes, he had demonstrated extraordinary strength and battle awareness in the fight against him.
A Bloody Hand Level 15 Warrior, himself a Mage, and ‘Andre Willow’ sniping from a distance,
Yet under these circumstances, he managed to kill Bloody Hand and then escaped the scene.
Using this body for just questioning felt like a waste.
Quickly pondering in his mind, he stood up and said, “Assistant Moya, may I have a word with you privately?”
Moya followed him to one side.
Wu Heng said, “I intend to hold off on the Wenshi for this body. There are some speculations I need to verify first.”
Moya frowned, “With ‘Kerim’ dead, the person behind the scenes might get the news and choose to leave the island quickly.”
Wu Heng nodded, “Give me half a day! If it doesn’t match my speculation, I’ll immediately proceed with the Wenshi.”
Moya continued to look at him, pondered for a moment, and said, “Why do I feel like you’re not at all worried about whether you can be reinstated?”
Wu Heng was taken aback, “How could I not be? The association is my family.”
“This matter, I will discuss it with the Steward,” Moya reminded again. “You also need to consider, if the culprit flees or if we ultimately can’t find the one who killed the Stag Manager, your situation will become quite troublesome.”
“Understood!” Wu Heng continued to take out the loot found on the body, saying, “This is from the body’s loot, the Steward asked me to hand it over to you, to be divided equally later.”
Moya took it, saying, “I’ll go back and sort out the items inside, and come back tomorrow to take away your other half.”
“Okay!” Wu Heng nodded.
“Then I’m going back first, to talk to the Steward about this.” Moya said, then noticing that Wu Heng had returned to his seat on the wooden chair, asked, “You’re just going to stay here?”
“Nothing much else to do, might as well keep watch here,” Wu Heng said.
Moya raised an eyebrow, understanding his meaning.
He was afraid someone from the association might come to tamper with the body.
“All right then! I’ll head back first, contact me if anything comes up.”
Wu Heng nodded, and Moya left directly with two Investigators.
About half an hour later,
The Coroner finished examining the body and had sewn the severed head back on.
But it was just a surface stitching, the bones were fractured, which looked a bit misshapen.
“Deputy Steward, the body examination is complete, we can confirm it’s ‘Kerim’.”
Wu Heng stood up and said, “Proceed with the regular documentation, this body is very important, I need to take it away first.”
“Okay, Deputy Steward!”
The straw mat was rewrapped, and Wu Heng retrieved the body into the Space Ring.
He took large strides and left the morgue.
Walking out of the association, he carried Skull Crusher with him toward his residence.
…
Returning to his residence.
As soon as he opened the iron gate, the skeleton guards in the courtyard.
All turned their skeleton heads towards him with quite an oppressive feeling.
“Spread out a bit!” Wu Heng ordered directly.
The skeleton guards moved out a distance, spreading throughout the courtyard.
Mini and Andre Willow rushed out of the room quickly.
“Master, are you alright?”
“Master, are you injured?”
Both women began checking on him, one on each side.
At the scene, when Bloody Hand disintegrated into a pile of bones, it had really scared them both quite a bit.
“I’m fine, not a scratch on me!” Wu Heng said.
Seeing that he was truly unharmed, the two maids finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Mini asked, “What happened to that bad person?”
“He’s dead, caught him at the port, he nearly managed to escape,” Wu Heng walked back to the house with the two women.
“Wow, Master, you’re amazing!” Mini exclaimed.
“Er… not me, the Steward did it, he killed the man directly,” Wu Heng explained.
Back in the room, seeing the two were quite concerned about the incident, he briefly recounted what had just happened.
When they heard that ‘Imilo’ had decapitated the enemy with two strikes,
Mini and Andre Willow still showed some surprise,
After all, Kerim had managed to kill a Level 15 Bloody Hand and escaped under sniper fire while surrounded by many skeletons.
It had already shown a strong combat and survival capability.
For such a person to be killed by the Steward in just two strikes.
That was a bit too exaggerated.
“Steward ‘Imilo’ seems to be more powerful than ‘Gomez’ the Steward,” Andre Willow commented.
Gomez was the Steward of Lundham City.
“Much more powerful, you could probably defeat Gomez as you are now,” Wu Heng replied candidly.
Gomez’s level was probably around 12.
Although Andre Willow’s level was somewhat lower, after consuming so many elixirs, her attributes might not be lower than Gomez’s.
Add some firearms to the mix, and she would have a chance to kill him.

“No way!” Andre Willow leaned in shyly.
Mini continued to ask, “Master, have you been reinstated yet?”
“Not yet. I’ll see how things go in a few days. If there’s really no other way, I’ll have to interrogate this body.”
“Oh, okay!” Mini nodded and continued, “What would the master like to eat tonight? Let’s celebrate your victory. It was so cool when you were chasing that bad guy with a sword.”
“Just prepare something simple; the matter isn’t over yet, so stay inside for now,” Wu Heng instructed.
“Oh, alright!”
…
Meanwhile, in a dimly lit tavern.
A noise-cancelling device was deployed.
The Inspector Special Envoy Kalemah, with a grim expression, said, “The person sent to assassinate Wu Heng is dead?”
“That useless Kerim got himself killed at the port by ‘Imilo,’” said the panicked captain. “Dammit, Mr. Kalemah, we need to leave quickly, or the association will come looking for us.”
Kalemah kept staring at him, speaking coldly, “Does anyone else know about our dealings?”
