Chapter 38: Chaos In Orion Battlefield (Part 5)

The Thunderbolt descended upon them the next moment, sending ripples across the ground yet it didn’t get the chance to fully consume them.

Krista bore witness to the arc of lightning being slashed in half by Cole’s jagged blade, the blade spinning through the air with force akin to a chainsaw and blue soul energy surrounding it’s figure like a flame.

"Thank you," Cole said to the Cavalier who sat on the ground, his sword at the side and his eyes a little bit dizzy.

#####

Cole drew back on the chain, he watched as the chain shot backward and out of Tobi’s shoulder. The Demon’s eyes widened in surprise as blood spouted profusely out of the wound but Cole wasn’t done yet.

He twisted the chains masterfully, a blue aura of soul energy wrapping around the blade the next moment – Tobi was taken by surprise, he truly didn’t expect Cole to use Soul energy...

Armed with the element of surprise, Cole spun the chain yet again, aiming to take Tobi’s head but Tobi leaned backward, dodging the blade.

"Interesting!"

Cole drew back on the chain and the blade tore through the air, aiming at Tobi’s back yet Tobi was able to dodge it again, without much effort. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

With the blade back to him, Cole spun the chain through the air – instead of going for an attacking stance, he took a defensive one, the chain spinning around his entire being from all sides, protecting him from any attacks which may come from behind.

"You aren’t usually using Soul energy... it’s the Magic weapon itself," Tobi said, "You probably absorbed a fraction of soul energy from another person and now, you’re using it to battle against me,"

Cole winced a bit, it had taken only a second for Tobi to figure out his element of surprise but it didn’t matter – in reality, he still had the upper hand in this battle, that was if he used... it.

Tobi raised a single finger into the air, letting magic pulsate around it as he fired a single crimson beam toward Cole but he couldn’t help but notice that Cole felt... different. The beam tore through the air instantly only for Cole to twist his head to the right and dodge it, letting the beam shoot through the air and combine with one of the stone pillars.

’Strange,’ Tobi thought as Cole’s entire body gave off a different vibe... there wasn’t any awakening or anything but he just felt... different.

Cole slowly brought his right leg forward, planting it into the ground deeply as adrenaline pulsated through his body and into his muscles.

’I can only use this for about a minute,’ Cole thought while his grip tightened around the chain so hard... it began crushing.

Tobi wasn’t able to react as Cole appeared right below him using nothing but pure speed – it wasn’t even his Flash Movement, Cole used his fist to hit Tobi in the jaw and with the force of momentum expended earlier, Tobi’s body was flung into the air.

Cole steadied his feet on the ground and shot into the air, mounting himself atop Tobi’s shoulder as they slowly fell downward.

’I can’t feel...’

Tobi’s body felt numb as Cole’s eyes, filled with bloodlust landed on his figure.

’He has great regenerative abilities,’ Cole thought, ’But... If I aim for his neck and heart as well as his lungs, I doubt his regeneration would be able to react quickly,’

The heart was the point of danger for every living being alike and Cole was sure he could end it all... if he aimed for the heart.

The last bit of Soul energy surged through the blade on Cole’s command as he stabbed into the neck of the Demon, dragging it through every bit of flesh and cartilage that stood in his path- blood spouted from the openings as Cole targeted the blade for the heart, stabbing deep within just as Tobi’s body landed on the ground.

’Did I win?’

Tobi’s body was strewn across the ground, lifeless and stained with blood while Cole stood victorious over the body – his face and body painted with the blood that spouted from Tobi’s body while he had hacked through the Demon’s flesh.

’I knew it,’ Cole thought while wiping the blood off his blades, ’His regeneration wouldn’t be fast enough to deal with all of that damage,’

He spared a glance at Krista and waved to her.

"It’s finally over," Cole muttered under his breath as hope flashed in his eyes.

"For you," Tobi’s voice sounded behind Cole – terror sinking into the heart of the Soulless Apprentice as a slap, filled with a ferocious amount of magical energy sailed right at his cheeks, blood spouting out of his nose, mouth and ears upon impact. Cole’s body flew through the air and smashed against the rocky pillar, a resounding splash going through the air as his blood painted the rocks.

Krista couldn’t believe her eyes, her lips quivered as she sighted Cole’s body slump and land on the ground face-first, a pool of blood slowly pulsating around Cole.

"Maybe if you had gone for the head, you could have stopped my Regeneration," Tobi said as steam engulfed his body, the wounds around his body slowly but surely healed, Tobi rubbed his chin while sighing a bit... he still felt the stinging pain.

’If he had really stabbed my brain, I would have died,’ Tobi thought as his wounds healed quickly... he could sense an increasing bloodlust though, spreading all over the battlefield. His eyes locked onto Krista’s figure, pulsating with violet soul energy – Krista dashed toward him on all-fours, her soul energy surrounding her entire body.

"You’re pesky," Tobi said as Krista appeared below him, gnashing her teeth against each other.

Krista leapt forward, aiming to bite into Tobi’s arm but Tobi dodged the strike quickly, even though he had been able to heal every single wound that had been inflicted to him by Cole – he still hadn’t been able to recover lost stamina.

Krista attacked Tobi, coming at him from all sides but there was no point in it – it was already obvious that Tobi was not only more faster but he was more skilled, evading all of her strikes with little effort but she couldn’t stop – she poured more soul energy into her strikes, the more she missed, the more she empowered them... visions of Rem flashed in her head, not only Rem but Cole as well... and even Mika, all of them had gotten to fight against this monster and they had done their best against it, but she... she had only gotten the short end of the stick.

’If I had joined Mika... she wouldn’t be like that,’ Krista thought.

’If I had joined Cole in his battle... he wouldn’t be on the ground about to lose his life,’

Her soul energy rapidly diminished and Tobi slammed his foot into her face, sending her skidding backward with blood trickling down her nose.

’I have gathered my energy once again,’ Tobi thought while smirking as a similar golden energy shrouded his entire body, malevolent energies leaking into the air as he brought two fingers into the air.

"It was a valiant battle!" Tobi exclaimed while preparing himself mentally and physically... he just needed to summon another Gateway and suck the rest of them inside and then he could destroy the town without much trouble...

Krista’s eyes shrunk with fear, her legs shook feverishly as her combat stance slowly crumbled... there was no helping it now, in just a moment, Tobi was going to summon another Dungeon gate and they would be killed by the monsters that lay within.

The fabric of reality distorted behind Krista as the beastkin gulped, unable to move her legs – it ripped open and revealed a blue gate, a dungeon portal but she could see visible fear in Tobi’s eyes... something strange was going on.

"I didn’t... do that," Tobi muttered under his breath as he brought his fingers down, yet the portal kept expanding – swirling as if it was coming to life.

Something was coming out from the gate... a human being? No...

Rem emerged from the dungeon gate, watching it close behind him instantly. Tobi couldn’t believe his eyes... It was Rem, his soul energy matched the Rem that he had just thrown into the dungeon earlier.

"I don’t believe it!" Tobi screamed out, he stumbled backward a bit – all of his earlier composure had vanished as a pair of crimson eyes landed on his body, Rem’s poker face showing no emotion but there was something more troubling than the fact that Rem had actually come out of a C-grade Dungeon all by himself... he was unscathed.
