Chapter 194: Dungeon Break (Part 3)

Rem walked in the streets of Ember town, his lips pursed as several glances were directed his way – he couldn’t blame them... their gazes were full of skepticism as well as fear.

Fear was a normal feeling, who wouldn’t feel afraid of someone who could fight a horde of monsters with relative ease... that certainly wasn’t normal. The fact that he had been clearing dungeons alone earned him the title, Solo Raider but there were still some people that disagreed with the title, people that dared to challenge him despite his status because they didn’t believe his strength, they didn’t believe it was real.

And now it was proven, right before the eyes of the Cavaliers that had been fighting that he was even stronger – strong enough to stop a dungeon break within a span of 30 minutes, it was inhumane.

But Rem shrugged it off, he didn’t care... he preferred to be isolated.

’Besides those annoying challenges will stop,’ Rem thought as he walked to the GUILD, there had been a few people that had chosen to take refuge within their homes and even the GUILD, it was a big place after all. The Monsters had not caused that much damage to the town, a few buildings were destroyed and the wares of the Vendors lay across the market – there were some people even trying to take the goods.

The town was in chaos for now but it wouldn’t take long until the harmony was restored once again, he looked over at the Café and smiled a bit – Pari’s father was the first person he had saved, the man was almost impaled through the chest by a Deathwolf.

Rem continued his walk, taking long strides and letting his cloak blow in the wind – people distanced themselves from him, more so than they had done before. There was a saying that applied to what was happening now; Humans fear what they do not understand.

"I want to sell all these magic stones," Rem said while dropping the sack in front of the counter – the receptionist regarded him with skeptical eyes, but for an entirely different reason, there had just been a dungeon break and someone already wanted to sell Magic stones?

She took the sack and began counting the magic stones while weighing their magical energy on a scale, Rem at least recognized the machine from Orion – the receptionists there used it as well to get the amount of magical energy residing within the stones.

It didn’t take her long to finish and she soon slid a Silver coin onto the table, just like Rem had calculated.

"Thanks for doing business with Ember Town’s GUILD, please come back next time," She said with a professional smile, Rem pocketed his silver coin and turned away... disappearing within the rowdiness of the GUILD.

At the other side of the town, Pari hugged her father tightly. She had impatiently ran with the twins to see if he was at the Café and when she saw him there, an indescribable joy filled her heart.

"Were you hurt?" Pari asked but Lucas shook his head, staring at the hole in the wall.

"I was about to make my way to the Defense Pavilion but a monster came in here and threatened to end me," Lucas recounted, a vivid frown visible on his face, "But Rem came in and killed the Monster,"

Their eyes subconsciously went to the corpse of the Death Wolf that lay in the corner, slashed vehemently with enough force to split it in half. Pari breathed a sigh of relief as she hugged him tighter, unwilling to let go.

"We need to thank him," Pari finally said, "Maybe I could cook something big?"

She had let go of Lucas and paused to think, Lucas and the twins joined in as well. They soon found a good idea that they were sure Rem would like.

The moon shimmered, brightening the night sky as Rem walked through the empty streets – it was a total contrast to the lively appearance of the town during the day. The people who had gotten their houses destroyed would have to lodge at the inns available.

"I’ll soon head to the city," Rem muttered under his breath, he had left Orion because he didn’t want to be held back and Ember town was also holding him back quite a bit. He planned to ensure that the twins got a good amount of training before they set out for the city which lay in the distance, they were meant to be an advantage not a disadvantage.

"I at least hope one of them was able to unlock soul energy today," Rem said as he reached the final curb before Lucas’s house, the place where he was staying, "That way I won’t have to cast too many illusions tomorrow," 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

To unlock soul energy, one needed to rile up the soul to unleash it’s dormant power outwards and to rile up the soul, the person would need to be in a state of helplessness or discomfort. The Illusion skill he had gotten from the Psychic demon fit the bar perfectly as the Illusion was able to cloud and block out the five senses while playing with the mind – it was perfect for tormenting someone emotionally and this kind of push was needed to unlock soul energy.

He could let the process go naturally, but he didn’t want to spend more time than he had to in Ember town when there was so much more waiting in the vast regions of the world – The Institution of magic and big towns, big cities, he longed to see them all. In reality, Ember town was just a small part of the big picture.

Rem reached for the knob and twisted it, opening the door.

"I’m home," Rem said unceremoniously, there was no answer... from either Pari nor the twins, something felt strange, "Could’ve sworn they were all safe,"

His eyes flashed as he pin-pointed their soul energies, a little bit of surprise flashed on his face... They were all in the dining room, but that wasn’t the shocking thing.

’Luke unlocked soul energy, huh?’

It was surprising.
