Chapter 146: Megan’s Resolve

Megan looked around the cave formation, searching for Rem but he had vanished so suddenly... she looked in the tent but he wasn’t there, no matter where Megan looked, she couldn’t find him.

Tremors suddenly echoed, even succeeding in rattling the cave. Megan raced out to the entrance of the cave and looked at the rocky land in front of her, several tremors ran through the surface and huge web-like cracks were formed... Megan could sense the magical energy in the air, it was thick and instilled fear in her.

She stared ahead and gulped, the source of this disturbance was not too far away but her instincts warned her against going toward it – Megan felt like she would die if she approached it but she steeled herself.

"Maybe Rem is there," Megan muttered, gathering courage within her shaky feet, "Maybe he needs help..."

She clenched her fist and raced forward, determined to find Rem. The ground creaked and shattered in several spots, each step she took forward seemed like hell to her as she was subjected to more of the magical pressure yet each time Megan felt like giving up, she thought about Rem and it gave her strength to pull forward.

An explosion echoed as the Dungeon wall trembled for a while before stopping, Megan looked at the battle in front of her while raising a hand up to cover her eyes – she could barely keep up with what was happening but she could see Rem’s figure, moving across the battlefield with a speed that defied anything he had ever shown her.

The blue energy razed the ground, heading toward Rem but the Apprentice jumped over it, landing on the damaged ground and shooting toward the Demon with Flash movement.

Rem brandished his blade as he drew closer to the Demon, He appeared in front of the Demon and swung it, aiming to connect right with the head but the Demon moved back, dodging Rem’s swing before pushing him back with the blue energy.

Rem grabbed onto the side of a broken pillar before he could crash into the wall, his eyes traveled across the battlefield and met the gaze of Megan who watched the battle with excitement. With a single thought, he blew her away from the battleground with a powerful gust of wind.

"Don’t let your sight off me!" The Demon cried out, a powerful blue aura surging to life around him, "I am your Opponent, Monster Monarch!"

Rem analyzed the skills that his Opponent had brought up so far, Illusions – Tendrils – Repulsion... he had a counter prepared for every one of the techniques that the Demon had been showing him throughout the fight.

Rem stood atop the broken pillar proudly, raising his left arm up and blasting the Demon with holy flames but they were stopped by a wall of blue energy... with a thought, the Demon dispersed the Holy flames and let them ravage the ground around it.

"Is that all you have?!" He cried out, trying to force Rem into letting his guard down but Rem was much smarter than the demon had expected.

He had already moved away from the broken pillar, his feet a blur as he quickly closed the distance between himself and the Demon from behind. The Demon quickly noticed him and sent a tendril made of blue energy his way, the tendril was so close that Rem wouldn’t be able to dodge it but he didn’t plan to, he extended his palm and shot out a tendril made of shadow.

It took moments for the shadow tendril to overpower the blue tendril and slam into the Demon’s back, sending him flying through the air for a few meters. The Demon quickly regained control, planting his feet into the ground and skidding to a halt.

Rem kept running at the Demon, making his movements as predictable as possible. The Demon having recovered from the Shadow tendril raised his arms up and summoned several tendrils, they snaked in the air before shooting in Rem’s direction – each one moving with the intent to kill.

The Apprentice wasn’t afraid though, his eyes were completely fixated on the Demon... they flared up in green flames as the tendrils came dangerously closer, threatening to pierce his skin and bring an end to his life but then... they stopped. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

The tendrils shattered mid-air, turning into nothing but blue energy that rapidly disappeared... Rem had pulled to a stop and stood in front of the Demon with a confident smirk adorning his lips.

’There were three skills that came from the Demon known as Aegi,’ Rem thought as the Demon’s eyes widened.

No matter how much he tried to summon the blue energy, he was unable to – his heart pounded in his chest as Rem’s smirk widened, Rem raised a single finger up and his arm bent to an unnatural degree courtesy of his Shadow.

"This will probably burn through a lot of magical energy but it’s totally worth it," Rem muttered with short breaths as he lifted another finger, The Demon’s other hand twisted and turned, the sounds of his bones shattering as clear as day.

Rem raised his third finger, both legs of the Demon bending in an instant and twisting in opposite directions, the bones were severely damaged. The Demon had a quick healing factor but that proved to be useless here, his body was under subjection of his shadow – a force Rem now commanded.

Rem lifted his fourth finger, nothing happened... suddenly the Demon’s body started bending, twisting and cracking as all the bones were surrendered to a horrid treatment, blood splashed on Rem’s face and his clothes yet he didn’t stop the spell – he made sure to focus on finishing off the demon before he had any chance to pull out a forbidden technique that would lengthen the battle.

After a short while, Rem raised his fifth finger and the Demon was shredded apart – several parts of his body lay sprawled across the ground... all in a pool of blood.

Rem fell onto his knees, he could understand why Aegi had lost all of his magic after performing this skill – he felt extremely tired and his magic reserves were tethering dangerously low.

’Time to harvest,’ Rem thought while staring at the screen in front of him.

An overpowered technique like that is bound to consume a lot of magical energy to maintain... that’s why he can’t spam this skill yet. Please support this book with your Power stones and golden tickets, they keep me motivated!
