Chapter 1321.1

In the situation where Davey couldn’t bring himself to speak, he had to force his mind to work. According to Super Ribbon—no, the other ego in front of him using her body—even though he had created her, he had also neglected her.

If he looked at it coldly, he could’ve asked how he was supposed to know when she never said anything. However, he couldn’t bring himself to say that. After all, if he wanted to know of her existence, he could do so anytime. Ultimately, it was his own complacency that had denied her very existence.

“Don’t lie and say you didn’t expect my existence at all. Dad, you could’ve guessed it when I said I was closer to a demonic sword than a divine sword. Instead, you were so preoccupied with those kids, Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon, that you figured it couldn’t be possible.”

He was speechless, finding it reasonable.

“Hah! You can’t answer after all, can you? Well, I guess I’m not surprised. I can only imagine how shocked you are.”

Even when he tried to call out to her, the words wouldn’t come out easily. He knew she was only using rhetorical questions, trying to get her point across.

She was pretty much asking if he had the right to ask her anything.

“Since I’m caught like this, it’s all over...” she murmured to herself.

He was confused. “What are you talking about? All over?”

“Still, it was a really good dream, no matter how short, right?” Having said what she wanted, she turned her body to go. “Oh, and that sleeping idiot will be back soon. It’s me here who’s saying goodbye.”

As she bounced away, her speed exceeded any ability Super Ribbon had shown before.

He figured she had saved all the mana he had infused into her without using any of it.

Although Davey didn’t know her current potential, one thing was certain—he had to catch her now. Yet his feet wouldn’t move easily, and one thought kept swirling around in his head.

'What should I even say? Can I really just stand still and stay quiet, though?’

He instinctively felt that if he let her leave, there would be no next time.

“Wait!” In the end, he decided he had to catch her, regardless of how things would turn out. He swiftly flew into the air after her.

Boom!!

However, she retaliated and obstructed him with a tremendous sword strike.

The red blade energy was impossibly thin, and its long, continuous line sliced through everything before it without restriction. It was Red Ribbon's authority to sever all tangible materials.

Although the one in control was neither Super Ribbon, nor Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon, she was surprisingly using the power of all three simultaneously.

It was likely due to the power of Predatory Assimilation. Davey figured she had used that power to devour the three’s strengths and melt them into her own.

Of course, without another power to match it, she should’ve been subjected to the madness of immense hunger like Davey was in the past. Yet, she was unharmed.

“Tsk!”

Clash!!

Davey blocked the slash using Longinus, a helixium spear known for its unmatched hardness. An immense shock traveled down his fingertips, carrying a weight so heavy he felt he might drop it anytime traveled through his body.

He couldn’t remember the last time he had clashed with someone who emitted such a huge force.

Illyna’s sword was heavy, yet so sharp that the concept of blocking didn’t work against it. Others couldn’t produce such a level of power.

The Super Ribbon in front of him was the only one entirely similar to himself, capable of clashing head-on with him.

Davey finally caught up, then shouted, “Just wait a second!”

Super Ribbon, standing atop the slanted, collapsing building's rooftop, turned around. In her hand was a blue and red energy sword that was slightly tainted with darkness.

“I don’t have anything more to say,” she resolutely responded.

“So? You can’t just run away and leave things like that!”

“I just told you, I don’t have anything else to say!”

'Says who?'

She seemed to have no intention of talking to Davey anymore, but he had other ideas, and chase between Davey and the child swinging her sword began.

* * *

Davey O'Rowane effectively disappeared.

Ever since he had gone after Dark Ghost, no one was able to get a hold of him. When combing the construction site, presumed to be his last location, only cleanly shattered remains were left behind.

Casualties were also discovered at the scene.

Evangeline was at a loss. “Where could dad have gone...”

Those who had been waiting for him were deeply shocked and caught off guard by his sudden disappearance.

“He’ll be fine. How many people in this world can actually harm Davey?” Illyna reassured her.

“But that doesn’t mean absolutely no one can,” Evangeline muttered gloomily.

Even though she always complained about how he smelled like alcohol, he was still a precious family member to her. She couldn’t help but worry.

No contact, messy traces, and Dark Ghost was still on the run.

According to Perserque, Dark Ghost even wielded the power of Predatory Assimilation. Since the opponent was wielding a dangerous power, they had no choice but to worry for Davey.

Then, news arrived that Dark Ghost was spotted near Busan after Davey had already disappeared.

'Davey missed it!’

'Davey went missing.'

Chilling possibilities couldn’t help but cross their minds.

Everyone was left waiting, burning with anxiety.

“Just what is the true identity of that Dark Ghost?”

Even though she believed her dad wasn’t truly in danger, Evangeline couldn’t shake the anxiety inside her and kicked at the ruined ground of the construction site.

Though the area was bustling with police and recovery crews, no one tried to stop Illyna, Evangeline, and Rinne from combing through the scene.

“Has Mom contacted you?” Evangeline asked Illyna.

“She left immediately after Davey's scheduled return time passed, and hasn't contacted us since. She is probably searching for him on her own.”

Perserque immediately began a personal search when Davey didn’t return after the promised time.

Illyna and Evangeline were searching for him on their own, as well.

Just then, Rinne, who was sniffing the air, strode into the middle of the mess. “Rinne detects Master Davey’s scent.”

“Ummm, hello?! That area’s dangerous!” someone shouted. “If you go in now—”

Rumble! Rumble!!

A construction worker who was in the middle of recovery work hastily tried to stop Rinne, but she crumpled the mess of stacked metal beams with one hand and strode right in.

“Woah! Where does all that strength come from in that little body...” the astonished worker muttered, but she couldn’t have cared less.

Rinne, who went inside the mess, found a dried bloodstain.

“Discovery. Rinne rates her search ability highly,” she reported as she sniffed the air.

The two others quickly ran up to her. “Whose blood is it?”

Rinne quietly crouched down and placed her hand on the small, dried bloodstain on the floor. Then, she lightly rubbed the dried blood with her index finger and put it in her mouth.

Evangeline was appalled. “Ew! Rinne, that’s gross! Spit it out now!”

Yet she quietly closed her eyes and remained silent. “Rinne hypothesizes it to be Master Davey’s.”

“That’s insane... Dad was injured?!” Evangline mumbled in shock.

The reason Evangeline was not panicking, despite worrying about him, was her certainty that he was not dead.

In fact, If Davey actually died, Perserque would also die, and vice versa. That was their contract. Of course, the seemingly disadvantageous contract also served to protect the other person.

Interpreting their contract in her own way, as long as Davey lived, Perserque wouldn’t die. And as long as she lived, he wouldn’t die either. Those who knew the truth had a firm belief that Davey wasn’t dead.

“It seems Perserque went to search for him because she can instinctively determine his location.”

“Then shouldn’t she find him immediately?”

“But it seems the link is being disrupted.”

Thanks to the contract, Davey and Perserque could sense each other even when apart, but the link was currently experiencing interference.

Despite their thread of life being connected, tracking was difficult.

“In any case, it’s clear that this Dark Ghost is very dangerous if they’re strong enough to threaten Dad.”

“If you understand, go home. Rinne and I’ll handle this,” Illyna insisted.

“No!” Evangeline stubbornly responded. “I know how to fight too.”

“Listen to your mother. Do you even know how dangerous this situation is?!”

Illyna and Evangeline started bickering, but Rinne quietly looked around with an expressionless face.

It was a relief that Reina hadn’t yet heard the news of his disappearance. If she knew, she’d probably lose her mind and search for him frantically.

Rinne calmly examined the traces Davey left behind. “Traces of Longinus. Traces of Super Ribbon.”

Letters and numbers rapidly flashed behind her blue eyes. She was distinguishing each trace and mentally reconstructing how the fight must have unfolded.

However, she soon encountered an error. After thorough analysis, she concluded that there were absolutely no traces of any enemy.

“Rinne found Super Ribbon's blade energy mixed with Longinus's traces. Rinne deems this theoretically impossible.”

Evangeline was similarly confused. “Are you saying Super Ribbon fought Dad?”

“That’s nonsense.”

Super Ribbon also disappeared with Davey, but that was surely because Super Ribbon was his weapon, so they pretty much went together in any combat scenario.

“Rinne determines that after examining the current traces, there are absolutely no signs of Dark Ghost. Rinne deems that these are the only traces left behind.” Those two, and the faint remnants of Predatory Assimilation felt nearby.

“Ah, seriously! Where did Dad go, making everyone worry like this?!” Grumpily complaining, Evangeline kicked a distorted steel structure nearby.

Thud!!

She seemed to have forgotten that she’d long surpassed the limits of a normal human.

Boom!!!

The steel frame she lightly kicked was instantly warped, and the massive, heavy steel beam that was precariously balanced above dropped straight onto her head.

“Kyaaak!”

“Eva!” Illyna, who had been focused on Rinne's analysis, was startled by her sudden scream and leaped toward her.

Evangeline was crouched down, clutching her head and groaning.

“Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

A normal human would’ve been instantly flattened, but it seemed like the beam hadn’t done much to her.

However, it had another effect.

“Ow...” While groaning, she suddenly froze before her eyes shot wide open. Her trembling hands clenched into fists.

Illyna was worried about her sudden behavior. “Eva?”

“I... I remember now...” she muttered in a serious tone. “No...”

“No?”

“This is wrong... Fundamentally wrong!”

The truth about the person inside Super Ribbon was one thing, but there was something Evangeline had felt when she’d come into contact with her.

It was something she absolutely had to share—something she might regret for the rest of her life if it was too late.
