The Marquis Mansion's Elite Class-Chapter 169
When the members of the Child Prodigy Class saw Zong Jincheng enter, the discussions broke out in waves, but one person stood apart, engrossed in their own book.
Zong Jincheng felt his irritation flare up at the sight.
"Hmph, that annoying Qin Ye. I’ll make sure you regret not paying attention to me!"
The young troublemaker took his seat, waiting for the teacher to arrive and begin the lesson. He flipped through the newly issued textbook, which combined multiple articles for learning. In contrast, their elite class studied one book at a time.
He muttered, "No wonder the teaching is different."
After all, the Child Prodigy Class was filled with people stronger than him at his current level. Zong Jincheng was curious to see how the teacher compared to masters like Master Baili and Pan Hongzhi.
However, after a few moments of the lesson, he found himself struggling to stay awake.
The teacher first had everyone read the article aloud together, then explained each word and phrase, speaking slowly to ensure no one fell behind.
Zong Jincheng was already slumped on the desk, half asleep. With this much time, he could have learned three articles at home.
This way of reading is so boring, he thought. If he had started at the academy, he probably wouldn’t have lasted two days.
The more he listened, the more he felt drained. Yet, beside him, Qin Ye remained focused, occasionally jotting notes on paper.
Taking notes… didn’t they have attendants to do that for them?
Zong Jincheng suddenly sat up, looking around to see everyone else writing diligently.
While he was distracted, the teacher had moved on. Feeling a pang of panic, Zong Jincheng quickly flipped a page, trying to catch up. But the teacher’s explanation didn’t match the page. He flipped further down, still not finding the right section, until he realized and flipped back to the beginning.
Ah, now it matched.
This is ridiculous!
This class at the academy is painfully slow and dull.
But since he had agreed to study here for a day, and the half-day session wasn’t even over yet, Zong Jincheng felt it would be rude to leave. Reluctantly, he slumped back onto the desk.
In his slump, his movement was too vigorous and accidentally knocked over Qin Ye’s inkstone.
"!" Zong Jincheng quickly sat up, ready to apologize.
But Qin Ye calmly picked up the inkstone, refilled it with ink, and continued listening, not showing any intention of blaming him, not even glancing at the culprit.

Another instance of this infuriating indifference. It drove him crazy.
Perhaps feeling the intensity of Zong Jincheng’s glare, Qin Ye turned his head while grinding the ink and reminded him, "Don’t touch my… Oh, it’s you."
Zong Jincheng scoffed. "At least you finally remember who I am. You’re lucky; just wait until I surpass you."
With the faster teaching pace he had at home, he was confident he could catch up and overtake Qin Ye.
Qin Ye’s expression darkened, his cold eyes sharp as knives. He quietly said, "Dream on."
"What did you say?!"
Qin Ye’s arrogant attitude stoked Zong Jincheng’s anger, and his voice shot up.
The teacher on the platform was startled by the shout. Seeing it was Qin Ye and Zong Jincheng, his eyes widened.
These two, one was the academy’s prized hope, the other its major benefactor. Neither could be offended.
Who was the fool who put these two deities together in his class?
The students, interrupted in their studies, craned their necks to see what was happening.
Qin Ye frowned, deeply annoyed by the disruption. He said icily, "If you’re here to cause trouble, I suggest you leave. Everyone else is here to study, not to deal with your nonsense."
Zong Jincheng clenched his fists in anger. He stood up, nodding as he said, "Fine, just wait. Watch me dominate the Child Prodigy Class rankings."
With that, he made to leave.
The teacher called after him urgently, "Zong Jincheng, where are you going? Class isn’t over yet."
Without looking back, Zong Jincheng waved him off. "Don’t chase me; I’m going home to study. You’ll see my results in the exams!"
He had been looking for an excuse to leave, and now that he’d disrupted the class, he might as well take the opportunity to escape.
Zong Jincheng thought, he’d been behind on his studies due to illness a few days ago. If not for that, he’d already be ahead of many.
Leaving the Child Prodigy Class, he searched for Xu Wan’s figure but didn’t see her. She was probably waiting for him outside the academy. Imagining this, he felt a wave of happiness.
Hmph, his original plan was to study all day, and Xu Wan would wait for him all day.
An entire day…
Hehehehe.
As he walked back, the boy’s thoughts grew more delightful, even humming a little tune.
But before he reached the gate, he saw Xu Wan approaching with someone. She looked surprised to see him out so early. "You’re supposed to be studying; why are you leaving now?"
She glanced at him, noting it wasn’t yet time to end class, so he must have left on his own.
Had this troublemaker caused another scene?
Zong Jincheng quickly explained, "The teacher in the Child Prodigy Class was too slow. I couldn’t stand it, so I found an excuse to leave."
As for the excuse involving Qin Ye, he decided not to mention that.
After all, she hadn’t asked.
Xu Wan eyed the smug Zong Jincheng suspiciously, sensing something else must have happened, but there wasn’t time to question him now.
"Come back to the estate with me. Even if you hadn’t left, I would’ve called you out."
As she spoke, she grabbed his arm and started pulling him along.
Zong Jincheng, feeling his arm caught, couldn’t help but smile wider, but Xu Wan, walking ahead, didn’t notice anything unusual.
Grinning, the boy deliberately slowed his pace.
As a result, Xu Wan’s grip on his arm tightened, making Zong Jincheng’s heart soar. He was so elated his eyes almost disappeared into slits.
But, not wanting to be caught, he avoided looking at Xu Wan, instead focusing his gaze on the gate of Qingbo Academy.
Buyan, watching from the side, was puzzled.
The gate… What’s different about it?
After enjoying the moment, Zong Jincheng finally asked, "What’s the hurry? What’s happened at home?"
Xu Wan quickened her pace, hurrying him onto the carriage before telling him, "The Crown Prince is at the estate. He came to see you but found you weren’t there, so he’s waiting for you in the elite class."
Zong Jincheng’s eyes widened in surprise and delight. "The Crown Prince came to see me again? And he’s waiting for me at home!"
Oh, oh! What lucky stars must shine on me to have the Crown Prince treat me so differently, missing me after just a few days… Oh ho ho haha, I really am the most unique!
