Chapter 190: The Night Before ’That’ Day!

Eduardo slammed the door behind him, entering the house. The living room quickly turned chaotic. Loud music blasted from someone’s phone connected to a speaker, and empty wine glasses soon littered the coffee table. Eduardo watched in mild horror as Nikolai and Luca started setting up a weird version of musical chairs with the dining room chairs. Alessandro, who seemed the only sane one, quietly sat in a corner with a doughnut, clearly questioning his life decisions.

He never wanted to be here. It’s not like he wanted to stay at the Diabolo mansion alone with Viktor. If Viktor hadn’t begged Nikolai to drag Alessandro with him, he wouldn’t have left the house. He was already regretting allowing himself to be dragged down here.

’At least, I’ve got the box of doughnuts with me,’

Marcello just grinned and clapped Eduardo on the back.

"Come on, Eddy. It’s a party now! Let’s have a little fun."

Eduardo wanted to groan again, sliding his fingers into his hair but stopped himself. He did need a break. He has been busy fucking Marcello and maybe if he drank enough, he could forget the weight sitting on his chest.

And so, it began.

First, they played simple drinking games. "Never Have I Ever" exposed far more secrets than necessary.

Nikolai admitted to skinny-dipping in a stranger’s pool when he was at school. He didn’t even go into details, but they just shut him up so he wouldn’t reveal annoying words.

Luca confessed he once stole a police officer’s hat. When he was the son of a mafia, he almost got arrested for driving past the normal limit. While the officer was talking to him through the window, he took the cap from his head and drove off. Too bad, the cap burnt in the house.

Marcello shared a wild story about sneaking into his first bar when he was sixteen; that’s what encouraged him to build his own bar when he grew up. Maria just kept laughing, refusing to say anything at all.

Eduardo drank more than he should have.

Somewhere between shots, David joined them, looking like he wanted to die inside but masking it with a strained smile. He avoided looking Eduardo in the eyes.

Eduardo made a mental note to deal with him later. He knew something was wrong with David. He could see it in the way he clutched his drink too tightly, how his eyes kept darting to the window like he expected someone to crash through it.

But Eduardo was sure that the guards he brought with him were doing their job, keeping the area safe.

And also, tonight wasn’t the night for interrogations.

They were just going to focus on playing games and drinking till they dropped.

That’s when Nikolai pulled out a deck of cards from his pocket and shouted,

"Alright, adults! Time to play something more... daring!"

The game was called "Risk or Dare"... a twisted, mature version of truth or dare where you either took a heavy risk or did a dare that could be absolutely embarrassing. They made silly bets too. Lose three times, and you had to do something insane, like strip down to your underwear and sing outside the house for a full minute.

"Let’s make it interesting!" Maria said with a wicked smile. "The losers get a punishment chosen by the group."

The group cheered.

Even Alessandro, after a few more drinks, started loosening up, agreeing to play.

’Why am I agreeing to this? With him?’

Eduardo was hesitant at first. It was reckless, childish, dangerous even... but then Marcello looked at him with those bright, mischievous eyes, and he found himself nodding. He was lured.

"Alright," Eduardo said, setting his glass down. "Let’s do it."

The first few rounds were harmless.

Alessandro lost and had to wear lipstick for the next hour.

Luca had to do ten pushups while barking like a dog.

Maria dared Nikolai to prank, call a random restaurant, and propose marriage to the employee.

Everyone laughed so hard that tears came out.

Then, as if fate wanted things to spiral more, Maya arrived.

Eduardo blinked, surprised when the front door opened and there she was... wearing a simple hoodie and jeans, a suitcase rolling behind her.

"Maya?" Eduardo stood up. "You weren’t supposed to come till tomorrow."

She shrugged, her face tired but smiling a little.

"Change of plans. Mom was... well, predictable. Grandma told me to come back with you next time." She gave a dry laugh. "So here I am. Early."

Before Eduardo could say more, Maria squealed and ran to hug her.

"I’m so happy you’re here! Now we’re even!" she said, counting the girls versus the guys.

Eduardo froze, waiting for Maya to maybe punch Maria in the guts or something. He remembered Maya telling him that he was sent to kill Maria at that time.

Maya looked back at him, also not knowing what was happening.

"She doesn’t know it’s me," she mouthed and accepted Maria’s hug.

"It’s nice to finally meet my husband’s lover’s wife... Yay," Maya said, and Maria laughed.

"Me too!"

Eduardo realised how weird that sound was and went back to his seat. Apparently, Maria doesn’t recognise Maya since she’s here as Maya and not the Flirty Demoness.

Everyone welcomed Maya warmly. Luca offered her a glass of wine.

Eduardo pulled her aside briefly, concern in his eyes.

"Are you okay?"

Maya nodded. "I’m better here."

She glanced around the lively room and smiled genuinely. "This is what I need. Some fun and.. commotion"

Relieved, Eduardo kissed her forehead softly. Her cheek flushed red as she smiled. She really missed Eduardo.

Eduardo wasn’t just her husband... he was his family too. They had an understanding.

She knew about Marcello. And surprisingly, she didn’t mind. Their marriage had never been about perfect romance, it’s more about acceptance and support. For her to get accepted when she has killed a lot of lives... Not a lot of people would do that and for him to get accepted by her when he has a lover. Not a lot of women would do that.

.

.

Back at the table, Nikolai grinned wickedly. He had always been the wicked one.

"Since Maya’s here... the games just got spicier," he announced.

Eduardo groaned inwardly.

Here we go. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"New rule!" Nikolai shouted. "No boring dares! All dares must be intimate or crazy!"

Everyone hooted in approval, even Maya, who laughed and threw her jacket off, ready to dive in.

The game picked up pace.

Eduardo ended up losing a hand and had to sit on Marcello’s lap for a full five minutes, whispering something dirty in his ear every thirty seconds. Marcello, of course, milked every second of it, holding Eduardo close with his hands boldly roaming over him in front of everyone.

"Is it me or you’re hard? What are you? A pervert?" Eduardo whispered and Marcello twitched down there.

Maria was dared to kiss Maya, which she did without hesitation, leaving both girls giggling hysterically. They looked like they didn’t even have a problem with that.

David, poor David, lost and had to strip to his boxers and model walk across the room. Luca lost a round and had to let Nikolai tie his wrists loosely for the next two rounds.

And Alessandro? He simply sat red-faced, clutching his doughnut, praying he wouldn’t get chosen. The doughnuts that were supposed to be for everyone were finished by him and him alone.

Things started getting a bit hotter, the dares more daring.

"Eduardo," Maria said, grinning, "Risk or Dare?"

Eduardo sighed dramatically. "Dare."

"Good." Maria leaned back, pleased with herself. "You have to blindfold yourself and kiss the first person you find."

The group cheered loudly.

Someone handed him a black scarf. Eduardo tied it around his eyes, feeling heat rush to his cheeks.

He stood up carefully, hands outstretched, stumbling through the room. Everyone was laughing and teasing him, some calling out fake directions.

Then, he bumped into someone. Hands grabbed his waist firmly.

Without hesitating... partly because he just wanted it over with... Eduardo leaned in and kissed them.

The lips were soft but hungry, and for a second, he forgot the world. A spark ran down his spine.

When he pulled off the blindfold, he found himself staring into Marcello’s wicked grin.

"I knew you’d find me," Marcello teased, licking his lips.

Everyone hooted and clapped.

"I could smell your horny self from over there... Don’t blame me,"

Eduardo flushed but smiled.

Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the atmosphere, but tonight... he just wanted to forget everything.

The dares grew bolder still.

Nikolai and Luca had to share a shot glass between their mouths without spilling it.

Maya was dared to sit on Eduardo’s lap and feed him strawberries while whispering naughty things into his ear.

Marcello lost a round and had to do a body shot off Maria’s stomach. They laughed through it, comfortable in ways only people who understood love’s many layers could be.

Everything was messy and stupid and absolutely wonderful.

For a few hours, Eduardo forgot the real world.

He forgot everything.

He forgot the secrets.

He forgot Fabio.

There was only laughter, games, stolen touches under the table, flirtatious glances, and kisses shared without guilt.

---

By midnight, the group was sprawled across the sofas and floor.

Empty wine bottles lined the kitchen counters. Someone had drawn a moustache on Luca’s face. David had passed out under the coffee table, snoring softly.

Marcello was lying behind Eduardo on the floor, one arm lazily draped over his waist. Maya was curled up nearby, using Alessandro’s thigh as a pillow while Alessandro tried very hard not to move or breathe too loudly.

The fire crackled in the hearth.

Eduardo leaned back against Marcello’s chest, feeling his steady heartbeat.

"Today was good," Eduardo said quietly.

"The best," Marcello agreed, pressing a kiss to his shoulder.

Maria giggled from across the room, where she was cuddled up with Nikolai and Luca.

"This feels like a sleepover," she said, slurring her words a little.

"It is a sleepover," Maya replied sleepily.

Eduardo just smiled, enjoying the peaceful moment.

He pressed closer to Marcello, letting the warmth of the fire lull him into a peaceful sleep.

Peaceful?

Everything peaceful about that night would get ruined pretty soon.

Just... Very soon.
