"I really want to trust you. You have never given me a reason not to." He said and I could hear the pain in his voice. "Why did I have to find out from him?" He asked and I shrugged. I didn’t know what he wanted from me. The moment he confronted me, I told him everything. I didn’t intend to hide my past from him. "Do you enjoy sex with me?"

"Yes I do." I spoke up and he looked at me. It was then I finally understood what this whole argument was about. "Dev, I have never gone to seek out sex from anyone. I know we’re still trying to settle that issue but I am perfectly fine with having sex with you once a year and multiple times a month with someone else."

"Why? Why don’t you want to find someone else? I heard you and Nora talking about babies and what if I can’t give you children?" He asked as I got up and sat beside him, taking his hand in mine.

"I am happy with you. You take care of me and treat me like a princess. I’ve never had to worry when I’m around you." I said. There was so much to love about Devon that I didn’t mind any other issue as long as I was with him.

Devon was different. Different from all the other guys I’ve been with. He was soft and gentle. He cared so much for me. I loved that he was family oriented and he played with his siblings. He respected me and that was what made me fall in love with him.

"You’re the only person I’ve ever felt this way for. You make me so happy. I always want to be in your arms every time. I love you." I confessed as he pulled me into his arms. "I could never ever do anything to hurt you and even hurt myself. You mean the world to me."

I felt a kiss on my temple. "I love you too, Beth and maybe I really need to work on myself. I know I’m a bit insecure and I’ll deal with it." He said and I pulled away to look at him. "Also I’m going to try to initiate intimacy more. It doesn’t come naturally to me but I don’t want to lose you to anyone."

"You will never." I said as he leaned down and kissed the corner of my lips. He placed another kiss on my cheek causing me to smile.

"I’m sorry I made you cry but it will never happen again." He whispered in my ear and I nodded frantically. The mood had shifted and it seemed so delicate and soft. "You’re the most beautiful girl and I am terribly attracted to you." He continued. I couldn’t tell what he was doing as I like the way he was slowly talking to me. He slowly moved until we were both lying on the bed with our feet’s dangling off it.

"I love the way you’re always so happy to be around me. The way you’ll laugh and jump into my arms." He whispered and I felt his hands on my pajamas shirt. I looked down and I saw his fingers trying to open the button. I moved my hands to assist but he brushed them off. "It’s my turn to show you how I feel." His voice had changed and it was a lot more deeper than before.

He finally took off the buttons on my shirt and he took his hands off me. "I’m not going to hold myself back so this is your last chance to back out."

*Leonora*

I heard a loud bang and I looked over at Jax. He was seated on the floor with Xander, trying to fix the crib. I, on the other hand, was setting up the changing table. We had purchased so much stuff that it seemed almost impossible to move them back to the pack but with Micah’s help, we did it.

"If you hurt my baby, I’ll kill you." I wanted Jax as he gave me a sheepish smile and went back to screwing the crib. "You know what, I’m not even going to risk it." I dropped the pack of diapers on the table and walked over to Xander. He was laying on his belly on the floor and I scooped him up. "Please can you pass me the sling- no, not the carrier. The sling!" I order Jax as he tried picking out the sling from the items around him.

He held up a black cloth and I grabbed it from his hand. I walked over to the changing table, placing Xander on the table and started tying the sling like how I had seen in the videos. I placed Xander in the sling and finished tying it up.

"Carrying him like this is so better than using your arms." I pointed out and Jax hummed. I turned around to show him but he was focused on the crib. "Babe!" I called and he turned to look at me.

"I can’t wait to be done with this." Jax said as he leaned back on the bed. "Can we have the bath now?" He asked me with a pout on his face. I wanted to agree but we had been putting it off since we got back from our week long vacation. I loved sleeping next to Xander but I wanted his crib to be ready in case we decide that he could sleep alone.

"If I let you go, you wouldn’t fix his crib. Besides we really need to clear all those things and that can only happen when we fix the crib and set up the room for Xander." I said before turning back to the changing table. I arranged all the items for Xander into the small drawers.

"I’m so close to sending this crib to the guards and making them fix it." Jax said in a huff. I honestly didn’t get why he was annoyed. "Lonely, I am so lonely. I have nobody. All on my own." He sang out and I rolled eyes at him even though he clearly could not see me. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

There was a knock on the door and I heard Jax rush to open it. "Beth! Dev! Come on in and help me. I don’t even know how this young lady expects me to put up a crib." Jax sassily spoke and I almost bursted out in laughter. I looked down at my baby and rubbed his head. He was slowly drifting off to sleep.

During our getaway, I still breastfed him even though I said I wasn’t going to. It was our moment and I didn’t want to stop because I was having mixed feelings. It was the best decision I had made in a long time.

"Hey." I felt a hand on my back and I turned to see Bethany. She was glowing effortlessly. Ever since I saw her crying, things had changed between she and Devon. They were a lot more flirtatious but Jax had said it was all in my head.

"Hey." I greeted her as I went back to folding a few of Xander’s clothes in the changing table. Things have been a bit awkward between us. We didn’t talk as much as we used to meanwhile, it was like Jax and Devon were the best of friends.

"I overheard that there’s going to be a trial for Claire and Luke soon." She said as a frown morphed on my face.

Where did she get that information?

I turned to look at her as her eyes immediately went down to Xander who was fast asleep. "Where did you get that information from?" I asked her. She glanced at Devon then back at me.

"Devon told me. I thought you knew. I came to offer my support." She said as she tried to hold my hand but I brushed her off. "What is the problem?"

I scoffed. "The fact that you’re asking that already tells me everything I need to know." I started. "You’ve literally pushed me away. I tried talking to you on multiple occasions and you brushed me off and now you’re here to offer support?" I asked her. I was mad at the news she just broke to me but I was also mad at the way she had been avoiding me. I focused on her avoidance instead because when Jax and I are alone, I would grill him about the trial.

"I’m sorry. Dev and I were going through something and we just needed a bit of space and time for ourselves. I’m really sorry for pushing you away." Bethany said as she tried to hug me and this time I didn’t stop her. She was my best friend after all. I couldn’t risk spending another day being away from her. "He thought I was cheating and this led to us talking about our issues and it was just a really touchy subject for me. I promise I wasn’t trying to push you away."

"It’s okay. You have apologized." I said and she nodded frantically. "You’re also going to squeeze my baby so you have to let go now." I joked and she let go of me. "Please don’t ever push me away. Just tell me you need space and I’ll be fine with that."

"I know, I won’t do it again." She said with a reassuring smile. "So, what do you need help with?" I looked over at Jax and he looked like he was having fun with Devon as they fixed the crib.

"You screwed it back wards." I pointed out which earned a loud groan from the two men.
