The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 672 - 3: Unknown Journey (Part 3)
Crossing the city gate, what appeared before Richie was a series of towering, conical stalagmites.
Alright, this city is not only a hell for those with trypophobia but also a hell for those with OCD.
These natural stalagmites are densely packed, hollowed out from the middle, and transformed into towering buildings. At the same time, the outer walls are covered with various small, gray clay-constructed houses. It’s like they are hung up there. The key is that none of these houses are symmetrical, all tilting as if they’re about to collapse at any moment.
It feels like... there’s no such thing as a straight line in this place.
Compared to outside the city, the streets inside share the same structure, yet they seem to have suddenly become much narrower and more crowded.
Perhaps it’s related to the increase in "pedestrians" and stalls.
The key is, the feeling inside the city is much more oppressive compared to outside.
The omnipresent lava streams illuminated everything, turning the whole world into a reddish-brown hue. Rising heat is everywhere, and the dust drifting from the buildings further clogs the air, making it unbearably murky.
The underground world has no wind.
In addition to the crowded "tide of people," the air is filled with the smell of fishiness, burning, blood, sweat, and even the stench of rotting meat.
Even Richie, who doesn’t consider breathing a necessity, couldn’t help but cover his nose with his hand.
"What a thoroughly terrible place. The west side of the city." Among the passing crowd, Richie waved his hand, quickly identified the direction, and started walking westward with Brau in tow.
Along the way, Richie held his head high, showing no sign of being in this place for the first time. Instead, Brau, who had already been here once, was cowering and looking around, not daring to step more than three paces away from Richie. He frequently glanced at Richie with eyes full of admiration and nothing but admiration.
The red glow cast by the lava illuminated the faces of the surrounding passersby from below, making each look like demons from hell.
Soon, these residents proved to Richie through their actions that they weren’t just evil in appearance; they were truly malevolent.
In just three blocks, Richie had witnessed six cases of theft and four cases of highway robbery, with one of them even involving robbery coupled with murder.
Two werewolves cornered an elderly mouse-man in an alley, stripped him of everything, then casually picked him up and tossed him into the nearby lava stream. They then walked away laughing and chatting.
The surrounding passersby seemed to find such incidents commonplace, not even sparing any interest in watching. Even a passing Bull-man soldier squad showed no intention of intervening.
For a moment, Richie almost wanted to take action. But he couldn’t. Here, he needed to remain low-key at all times.
The sounds of roaring, screaming, the crack of whips, sobbing, shrieks, cries, chases, and manic laughter rose and fell, making the entire world unbearably noisy, like a veritable hell.
Richie wound through the crowd, wrapped in a gray cloak.
It took them about half an hour, asking for directions several times. Each resident queried looked at Richie with astonishment. This made Richie have to wrap his cloak even tighter.
Finally, on a crowded, chaotic, and somewhat dirty street, Richie saw his intended destination upon arriving in Shisun City—the "Pandora Inn."
It was a building clinging tightly to a giant stalagmite, built from clay. Shaped irregularly like a boulder. The outer walls were dotted with circular windows placed randomly, resembling a giant anthill.
By the faint red glow of the lava stream flowing past the street, Richie could clearly see a crooked sign hanging above the entrance—"Pandora Inn." In one corner, there was an abyssal script translation.
However, it seemed that the letters of the abyssal script were written incorrectly.
All the doors were open. Or rather, there wasn’t, in the true sense, a door. Just various entrances leading inside, without a single door panel.
Stepping forward, Richie led Brau into the largest entrance.
As soon as they entered, they were greeted by a horrifying sight.
The uneven floor was covered in slime, and the walls seemed to be entwined by the huge roots of some plant.
A large swarm of insects, yes, insects—like the ones Richie saw on the streets. Piled up like a mountain, the insects crawled everywhere. The sight was deeply unsettling.
Not just those pig-sized ones, but a heap of other species too. Some were even as large as a fully grown bull.
At the center, there was even a small hill formed by insects. The scene was haunting.
Brau screamed in fright and quickly shrank behind Richie, not daring to move an inch.
Richie stood in place, watching quietly. The light from the door behind him shone in just right to cast his shadow onto the insect-formed hill.
Gently moving forward, Richie stepped carefully.
The surrounding insects scattered all at once, like a receding tide.
Soon, beneath the "Insect Mountain" directly in front of Richie, a flesh-colored "thing" was revealed.
If those smaller insects were piglet-sized, then this flesh-colored creature was the size of a sow. Round, covered in wrinkles. Like a human brain, yet also like a lump of rotten flesh. Its surface was dotted with human finger-thick tendrils, waving around.
