Chapter 823: Chapter 823: Don’t Bother Me (2)

"Trying to get rid of me, huh? No chance." With that, Ji Mingqian reached out to snatch the coffee from his hand, drinking it without any hint of avoidance.

He had waited here for so long, and with just a word, he thought he could send him back? No way.

Jiang Yisheng looked at the staff in the distance gathered to share cold drinks, a hint of worry surfaced in the depths of his eyes, "Today’s filming is finished."

Once the filming schedule ends, it means he should return with his parents.

Suddenly, the coffee tasted a bit bitter. Ji Mingqian’s dark eyes paused slightly, pondering for a moment, he asked, "Do you really have to go back?"

Jiang Yisheng shook his head, his lips drooping, "The day after tomorrow is my grandmother’s death anniversary."

No matter what, he must go back once, and he couldn’t avoid going back forever, someday he’d have to face things.

Disliking seeing him so dejected, Ji Mingqian glanced around, ensuring no one was paying attention to them, he reached out to lightly scratch the back of his neck, "Don’t worry, you go back first, I’ll come find you soon."

Following him back, he didn’t have any reason to stay at his house, if his parents found out, it would only backfire.

Everything needs to be done openly, there’s no use in being hasty.

Jiang Yisheng tilted his head up, looking into his deep black eyes, a reluctance hidden within, "Are you going back to Country Y?"

Serious for just a few seconds, Ji Mingqian placed the remaining half cup of coffee into his hand, with a roguish smile on his lips, "Reluctant to part?"

Knowing he was reluctant to part, this realization was actually pretty good.

Jiang Yisheng rolled his eyes at him, the slight sadness he managed to muster was shattered by his words.

He muttered insincerely, "Who cares."

"Yisheng, it’s almost time to shoot, quickly touch up your makeup." The makeup artist returned to remind him.

Jiang Yisheng responded with an "okay," turned his head to give Ji Mingqian a look, and the latter raised his eyebrows at him before striding away.

The shoot progressed smoothly and ended around twelve noon.

In the makeup room, the staff were busy wrapping things up.

The makeup artist looked at the man drying his hair and asked, "Yisheng, do you want to dye your hair back to its original color while you’re at it?"

Jiang Yisheng turned off the hairdryer, picked up a hat and put it casually on his head, "No, maybe another day."

There were still people waiting outside, if he dyed his hair here, in less than five minutes someone would probably burst in.

Wen Rang packed up his things, walked to his side, "Yisheng, filming is over, we’re heading back to Beijing, if anything comes up, contact me by phone."

Jiang Yisheng adjusted his collar, hiding the necklace inside the collar, "Alright, you all worked hard, take them to dinner, it’s my treat, I have a car picking me up later, don’t worry about me."

Hearing that someone was picking him up, Wen Rang’s first thought was Ji Mingqian.

He lightly covered his fist and brought it to his mouth, coughing softly, "Is it Brother Qian?"

Jiang Yisheng affirmed and added, "I’ve arranged to have dinner with my parents."

Wen Rang didn’t think much of it, and advised, "Be careful then, don’t get caught on camera."

Jiang Yisheng nodded, grabbed his backpack and headed out.

The summer heat was hard to bear, the green willows by the shore curling up, and the sound of cicadas making people restless.

Taking a few turns, he came out the side gate, Jiang Yisheng looked up to see the sports car parked not far away, a bright smile appearing on his lips.

He quickened his pace and ran over, the person in the car opened the door for him first.

Jiang Yisheng bent down to sit in the car, the air-conditioning driving away the summer heat from his body, he raised his hand to wipe the thin sweat on his forehead, and couldn’t help but sigh, "This weather is as hot as Beijing’s."

Ji Mingqian’s thin lips curved slightly, "Country Y’s weather is mostly rainy."

Jiang Yisheng was taken aback for a moment, then realized the implied meaning in his words, a smile spreading in his eyes, "Let’s hurry up and go, before we get discovered."

Knowing he understood his meaning, Ji Mingqian chuckled lowly, started the car and drove away.

...

"Your private island?" Ye Jiuliang sat on the desk, her legs dangling.

"What are we going to do there?"

Li Mochan was folding clothes and putting them into the suitcase, "Didn’t you say you wanted to have fun?"

"What fun is there on the island?" Ye Jiuliang asked curiously.

"There’s a club over there," he replied.

A club?

Ye Jiuliang raised her eyebrows, lightly leapt down, and stood steadily on the ground.

She walked over, a playful smile on her lips, "Did you build a club on the island to take pretty ladies there for fun?"

"Does Feng Yi and Asheng count?" Li Mochan casually tossed clothes into the suitcase, reaching out to pull her in front of him.

Do they count as pretty ladies?

Ye Jiuliang burst out laughing, "I’ll ask them next time."

"I heard Smith’s daughter ran out of the restaurant crying?" Li Mochan pinched her nose gently, his voice low, "Did she give you trouble?"

"No," Ye Jiuliang replied, "She liked Aqian, was hoping to get some information about Aqian from me, then cried and left when she found out Aqian likes someone."

"She likes Ji Mingqian?" Li Mochan raised an eyebrow, his tone teasing, "Seems like next time I see Asheng, I should let him know."

"Don’t stir up trouble, or Aqian will call to pester about it," Ye Jiuliang, half amused and half exasperated, patted his chest lightly, "Those two have enough going on right now."

And with that, the phone on the table suddenly rang.

Ye Jiuliang slipped out of his embrace, talking as she walked, "Nine times out of ten it’s Aqian calling."

She picked up the phone, glanced at the screen, and she was right.

Sliding to answer, Ji Mingqian’s resentful voice sounded, "Ajiu."

Ye Jiuliang almost got goosebumps from listening, "Speak properly."

During this time, Li Mochan followed behind her to listen in on the call.

"Ajiu, when are you coming back to Country M?" Ji Mingqian lay on the sofa, looking utterly dejected.

Ye Jiuliang leaned back, a smile curling on her lips, "Not going back for now."

"Seriously?" Ji Mingqian shot up from the sofa, looking gloomy, "Where are you, should I come find you?"

"Don’t, I’m going on vacation, don’t come bother me, go find Asheng." Ye Jiuliang unhesitatingly refused.

"Asheng is going with his parents back to Country M tomorrow," Ji Mingqian’s tone was sullen.

Ye Jiuliang suddenly understood, so that’s how it was, no wonder he sounded so miserable.

She teased, "Aren’t you going back with them?"

Ji Mingqian rolled his eyes, "I’d love to, but I need an opportunity."

"Don’t tell me you’re planning to use us as an excuse?" Ye Jiuliang instantly guessed his reason for calling.

"Since you’ve figured it out, then..."

"What do you mean ’then’, find your own way, we’re going on vacation, whatever you say is useless." Ye Jiuliang ruthlessly refused before he could finish.

Ji Mingqian put on a long face, "C’mon, Ajiu, don’t be so cruel."

Without their excuse, how could he stay at his house?

Li Mochan reached over to take the phone, and coldly and unfeelingly said, "Figure it out yourself."
