The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 807: One Thing Subdues Another (Part 1)
Ji Mingqian raised his hand to pinch the center of his forehead, a clear look flickering in his eyes, "Alright, I’ll handle it. Get in touch with me if needed."
"Don’t forget the red envelope when you reach out," Ye Jiuliang chuckled dryly.
Ji Mingqian sneered, "Money-grubber."
Ending the call, Ji Mingqian looked up at the azure sky, a weight still sitting heavy in his heart.
He had been an orphan since childhood, unburdened by the usual ties, unlike Jiang Yisheng. If his family opposed, Ji Mingqian wasn’t confident Jiang Yisheng would choose him.
He didn’t want to make him struggle, but he couldn’t just let go either. This matter was really distressing.
"Let’s go."
A gentle voice sounded from behind, Ji Mingqian turned to meet his smiling eyes.
He was momentarily dazed, returning to his senses, his gaze landing on the bag he was holding, "Got everything?"
Jiang Yisheng nodded.
"Give it to me." Ji Mingqian reached out for the bag in his hand, "You go ahead for the shoot later on, I’ll take care of things with Uncle and the others."
Jiang Yisheng responded softly, walking beside him, "I’ve told Wen Rang already, I’ve arranged to be an hour late. I’ll take my mom and them back to the hotel first."
It was still early, and there were few people on the street, rendering it somewhat desolate.
The hospital wasn’t far, so they didn’t drive but walked to buy breakfast.
Both were silent, lost in their own thoughts.
"Asheng."
The person beside him suddenly spoke, his voice deep and resonant, like a cello being played.
Jiang Yisheng responded nonchalantly, "Hmm?"
"Will you always remember the promise you made to me last night?" Ji Mingqian slowed his pace, his tone carrying a hint of uncertainty.
Jiang Yisheng paused, his gaze fixed on him, a teasing smile tugging at his lips, "Do my words really lack that much credibility?"
He could tell from the moment his father arrived, he sensed the unease; knowing his character, he had thought he’d keep it bottled up without speaking it aloud.
Stopping in step with him, Ji Mingqian turned to meet his gaze, eyes deep, "Only you can make me feel unconfident."
Jiang Yisheng’s eyes slightly narrowed, his heart like being filled with scalding hot liquor, an unspeakable joy.
After a while, his thin lips moved slightly, releasing a soft, gentle laughter.
"Wherever you go, I’ll accompany you."
That brief sentence was filled with all his affection, a promise for eternity.
If letting go was possible, he had had hundreds, thousands of opportunities to do so over the years. But not being able to, he could only follow his heart’s desire.
Ji Mingqian was startled, the corners of his thin lips almost stretching to his ears.
He leaned in closer, "You said it yourself."
Jiang Yisheng took a step back to remind him, "We’re outside."
Ji Mingqian huffed a response, it was still more straightforward to take him back to the K organization.
...
The night was cool, the dark sky flickering with mystic light points.
Turning into an alley, the engine sound of the car gradually died down.
After a moment, two figures emerged from the alley, the streetlight casting a dim yellow glow, elongating their shadows.
"Ajiu, how do you plan to deal with Li Jingjie?"
"No need for us to deal with him. You know how Hunter, the old man, is. When things go wrong, the first to be in trouble will be Li Jingjie."
Near the bar entrance, Ye Jiuliang paused, turning, the silver mask on her face gleaming coldly.
"Remember to keep this a secret from me, and Achen shouldn’t let it slip either."
If her Li Mochan finds out she’s in such a place this late at night, her beloved motorcycle won’t be safe.
Gu Xinuo chuckled, "It’s rare for there to be someone that Master Jiu is afraid of, why don’t you head back first?"
Truly a case of every person having their match, even the fearless have their nemesis.
"If you both don’t speak, no one will know." Saying that, Ye Jiuliang stepped into the bar.
Since she’s here, there’s no way she’s leaving.
Gu Xinuo shook her head, following her steps.
Loud music reverberated in the bar, the smell of alcohol mixed with tobacco filling the air.
Ye Jiuliang frowned slightly, uncomfortable with the smell.
"What’s wrong?" Gu Xinuo asked in a low voice.
Ye Jiuliang adjusted her hat, "Nothing, just the smoke smell is too strong, it’s horrible."
Gu Xinuo stayed close to her side, ensuring she wasn’t bumped by the passersby.
"The private room’s on the third floor, we’re almost there."
Ye Jiuliang acknowledged and quickened her pace up the stairs.
Just as she was about to enter the pre-booked private room, she caught sight of a man emerging from a nearby room.
Even in the dim light, she could see clearly, recognizing him at a glance.
"Ha."
She laughed coldly, what a coincidence indeed.
"Ajiu, what are you looking at?" Gu Xinuo asked curiously, seeing her not opening the door.
"Li Jingjie is over there," Ye Jiuliang said in a low voice.
Hearing this, Gu Xinuo’s eyes sparkled, following her gaze, and saw Li Jingjie enter with a woman.
After a close look, she smiled understandingly.
It was none other than Hunter’s precious daughter; it seemed Li Jingjie was quite capable, swiftly cozying up to Hunter’s daughter.
"Let’s go." Ye Jiuliang withdrew her gaze, pushing the door to enter the private room.
Unaware he was already being watched, Li Jingjie busied himself in greeting Hunter.
Pouring a glass of wine, he personally handed it to Hunter, "Uncle, thanks to your support in this business, I toast this drink to you."
The middle-aged man standing before him, in a silver-gray suit that accentuated his tall figure, his deep-set features and slightly narrowed hawk eyes occasionally flashing a calculating glint.
He took the glass, laughing heartily, "Jingjie, you’re a clever man, you’ve greatly contributed to this business, I should be toasting you instead."
"Uncle, you’re flattering me. There’s no reason for an elder like you to toast me," Li Jingjie replied with a grin.
"Daddy, I’ve long told you that Jingjie is very capable, do you believe me now?"
The woman speaking was Hunter’s daughter, Sophia.
With a glass of wine finished, Hunter laughed, "I believe, I believe."
He turned to Li Jingjie, "Jingjie, take good care of Sophia, she always speaks highly of you to me."
Li Jingjie glanced at Sophia, they exchanged a smile, "Of course, I’m completely serious about Sophia, I’ll treat her well."
Hunter nodded, his expression turning serious, "The goods from the K organization are truly top-notch. Remember not to make a fuss about this business; if word gets out, it’ll affect all of us."
Li Jingjie felt a twinge of warning, "Uncle, is the K organization very powerful?"
Having rarely dealt with these forces, and not having been in the Y country long, he wasn’t quite clear on the hierarchy of these organizations.
However, from Hunter’s words, he sensed his considerable fear of the K organization.
