Chapter 412: 411. Two Can Play This Game (3)

I stood on the sidelines as I saw Rune flexing his arms with a sword in his hand, in front of him was Rowan and Cyrus.

"We’re not going easy on you this time, Big Brother." Rowan grinned and Rune smirked.

"I won’t go easy on you either."

Davian stood by my side as the kids cheered for the fighters. Drac stood with the kids at a distance to avoid Davian.

"Okay, start!" Kent shouted, acting as a referee.

The fight started. Rowan and Cyrus split up in a flash and attacked Rune but Rune was fast enough to dodge the incoming combo attack from two sides and swung his sword to block Rowan’s axe.

"Aren’t you worried about him?" Davian asked.

"Hm? About Young Duke? Not really, he’s trained here before going to the war." I said and Davian shoved his hands in his trousers’ pockets.

"No wonder he seemed right at home here." He mumbled and then turned his head looking at the Elves and the Dwarves.

"I didn’t expect to see the Elves and Dwarves living like this," he admitted, "Where did you even find so many? Did them but them in a black market sale or something?"

"You could say that," I responded keeping my eyes on the fighters, "I got them from Izkar."

Davian frowned and then looked at me, "Izkar?"

"Your parents had the same reaction when I told them." I spoke and Davian chuckled.

"You have two young Dragons, a small battalion of Elves and Dwarves and hundreds of humans under you, should I be even surprised to hear if I knew you are planning on taking over this kingdom?" He asked and I smiled.

"I’m not taking over any kingdom, Your Highness."

"But you are doing something to influence it, aren’t you? That’s the reason why you’re on Prince Eric’s side." He said.

Well, he wasn’t far off the truth.

"You’re planning on making him the King, right?" He asked and my eyebrows twitched.

I didn’t answer and let his question hanging in the air as I kept my eyes on the spar.

"All right! It’s a tie!" Kent shouted.

"Not yet! I’m going to win!" Rowan protested as he attacked Rune again.

"Hey, Rowan your turn is done!"

"Yes, it’s our turn now!"

Some kids started protesting. But it didn’t seem like Rowan was listening. This kid was too stubborn when it came to fights. I looked at Drac who noticed my state and then nodded, quickly moving to the ground to subdue Rowan.

I sighed watching as Rowan was still being stubborn while Cyrus moved back obediently. Since Rowan wasn’t listening, Drac smacked on the side of his neck making his body slump over and then put him over his shoulder and carried him away.

"They’re pretty used to this, aren’t they?" Davian commented watching as the kids were unfazed even after seeing what Drac did.

"You can say that, they are pretty enthusiastic about growing strong. If I’m being honest then they’re the strongest batch of fighters I’ve got." I spoke with a smile as I watched the other two kids taking over.

"Nobody apart from me has ever won against them," I added making him look at me.

"Though your parents were the closest ones to give them a hard time." I spoke with the hint of pride.

"These kids have flaws though, their major assets are their sharp reflexes and swift bodies. Anyone might be able to take them one-on-one or even two-on-one like Young Duke just did." Davian said and I chuckled.

"That’s true but those fights end up in a tie and just like you saw they wouldn’t give up until they’ve won."

"That just makes them troublesome." Davian mused.

"They can be, but when it comes to teamwork, they have the best coordination."

After fighting some more Rune walked back to me and Davian and Davian picked up his sword placing his overcoat over my shoulders.

"Hold on to this, I’ll be back soon after seeing how strong your kids are." He spoke and I smirked.

"I hope you don’t cry after you lose."

Davian smirked back as he stepped ahead and Rune narrowed his eyes looking at him.

"He’s too presumptuous for his own good." Rune commented.

"Well, he does have the assets to back his ideology." I spoke as I crossed my arms at my chest.

"You said he purposely fought dirty with those other contenders during that sword competition on purpose," Rune started and I hummed watching as Davian faced Viella and Liam.

"All to make me look good in Lady Celestia’s eyes." He added and I hummed again.

Viella and Liam were quick to move with their attacks but strangely enough, it seemed like even after that fight had started Davian was playing with them. He wasn’t being serious.

"Well, it was only rumours that I heard though," Rune spoke up, "But the knight whom he beat up first was said to be a corrupt guy who would take advantage of women and use violence on them."

I frowned tearing my eyes off of Davian to look at my brother.

"What?"

"I heard a couple of maids actually praising Prince Davian for beating those couple of men up so badly, as after that they didn’t do anything around the palace."

"All right, Prince Davian is the winner!" I heard Kent shout and I turned to look at Davian who stood therein the center of the ground with his blade on his shoulder and smirking at me.

"See?" He spoke and Rune scoffed beside me.

"Whatever the reason, I still don’t like him."

Prince Davian had been showing me a lot of sides that I wasn’t aware of, he seemed so layered that I couldn’t help but feel like I only knew the surface level about him. It was kind of uncanny to not know more about this man when I held the control of the most proficient information guild. The more I peeled the more I knew and the more I wondered just what this man was all about.

I was lost in my thoughts when I felt a gentle tug at my coat and I looked at Sylvia who approached me.

I looked once at Rune before I turned gesturing her to come along.

"Where are you going?" Rune asked.

"I’ll be back in a bit." I spoke as I walked towards the manor with Sylvia behind me.

We stopped at the stairs that led inside the manor and I turned to look at her, from my viewpoint I could see the fight and also her.

"So, how are you doing?" I asked.

"It’s as the normal, Master." She said, "How about Young Master Kai? Is he all right?"

"Yes, he’s still in his punishment that’s why I didn’t bring him along." I said and she hung her head.

"I’m sorry, Master. If only I had-"

"It’s fine," I spoke before she could finish.

"What I want is the safety of the people around me and if I can’t even know what kind of things are happening under my nose then... It’d all be a waste, don’t you think?"

She hung her head, "I’m really sorry."

I sighed and placed my hand on her head, "Learn from your mistakes, I’m happy that you were thinking of doing things that would make Kai happy but you shouldn’t have both left your posts together."

She nodded, and I removed my hand.

"Don’t feel too guilty about it and move forward with a lesson, all right?" I spoke with a smile and she nodded.

"Yes, Master."

"Good, now let’s go, it seems like Prince Davian is giving them a hard time." I said as I placed my hand on her shoulder and we walked back.

Davian defeated almost all of the kids whom he fought against and with others it was a tie.

Davian seemed quite into his element standing in the middle of the ground with a triumphant smirk.

"Well, it’s the first time ever that they were defeated like this, he’s really a demon." Rune commented and I chuckled.

"He’s not called the Beast of Battlefield for no reason, Prince Frost." I spoke and he turned to me with his ears going pink.

"D-Don’t use that embarrassing name!"

I laughed as he looked embarrassed before I turned to see Davian whose eyes were now fixed on Drac.

It seemed like he was planning on challenging Drac next. I couldn’t let that happen, if he sensed Drac’s mana presence for a longer time he might recall.

"All right, that’s the end!" I called out making everyone look at me.

"Eh? But we haven’t won against him even once!"

"Yes, let us have one more round, Master!"

"We’ll surely defeat him this time!"

"No," I announced, "it’s already getting late, don’t you guys have dinner to make? It’s enough playtime for you all, get back now all of you!"

The kids pouted but obliged making Davian to walk back at me.

"Well, I would have managed to get another round." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"As much as you are strong you shouldn’t overdo it."

"Are you saying that because I defeated your kids?" Davian smirked and I sighed.

"Try saying that when you defeat them all together." Rune spoke up and Davian cocked his brow.

"I just did."

"That was a two-on-one fight, I’m asking you to try and take them all including me at once." Rune challenged.

"Sounds thrilling, why don’t we do it?" Davian spoke up with the same challenging smirk. These two would keep playing this game forever until they’d gotten rid of another. But my patience had limits.

"Do you want me to knock you both out too?" I spoke revving up my Dragon’s Presence making them both stiffen up.

"It’s late, let’s return." I spoke before I removed Davian’s overcoat and handed it to him.

Davian simply smiled as we started walking back, I was glad that I didn’t have to clean up the mess of Davian recognising Drac for being the guy who was had partly led for his childhood trauma.

It was inevitable to come out sooner or later but I was too slumped with work to deal with this any time soon.

[Defender of Divine Glory has assigned you a quest.]

The sudden notification took me aback as I halted in my tracks making both Rune and Davian look at me.

"What’s wrong?"

I stared at the notification before I looked at the two.

"No, it’s nothing, let’s go." I said as I walked ahead the plan already formulating in my head.

It was almost time for this anyway.
