This time, there was no need for the horn’s guidance; the deafening gunfire became a coordinate, leading the corrosive insects to collectively crash against the door.

Seeing the metal plate being corroded into pits, the people inside suddenly retracted the machine gun, and then a fire snake emerged, burning a patch of corrosive insects outside the door to death.

I had seen this thing in movies, called a flamethrower. It’s incredibly effective against concentrated insect swarms.

In a short time, the ground outside the door was piled high with insect corpses, emitting a strong burnt smell. In one-on-one combat, no animal is a match for human weaponry.

Humans wielding weapons can even sweep through all the creatures in this tomb.

I suddenly felt a strange emotion, but I clearly knew this emotion was called anxiety.

Chen Qinghan and the others had their weapons confiscated by Boss Lu; they were like fish on a chopping board,

I, as the backup, must play my part.

A snake swarm would love to help, but alas, their intelligence is worrisome. Thinking of intelligence, I had a sudden idea.

The Water Monster is formidable, but only in water. I shook my head in disappointment, saying I needed a land-based strong creature.

The Water Monster spat out a mouthful of water, twisted its body, and began crawling onto the shore. Every step it took pushed lake water onto the shore, forming a massive wave.

I had seen a movie on the Tomb Robber’s phone where a huge sea monster landed ashore, causing catastrophic destruction.

The Water Monster wasn’t as large as that monster, but its appearance was much uglier than that giant lizard, truly deserving the title of ’monster’.

It had hundreds of tentacles, and its meat-face, resembling a bloated blobfish, was bigger than a truck head. When it stepped ashore, I finally saw it had legs and feet.

The giant creature stood on the shore, and its mere presence was already intimidating. But I worried it couldn’t withstand the roasting of a flamethrower, and before rescuing Chen Qinghan and the others, it would end up as grilled squid.

Suddenly, the Water Monster, after losing water, began to shrink, reducing in size at a speed visible to the naked eye.

To my astonished expression, it shrank to the size of a tennis ball, with hundreds of tentacles becoming a ’mini grass skirt’, its bloated meat-face shrinking into a ’little V face’, and its original bean-like eyes turned into cartoonishly large ones. No wonder people often say that chubby individuals are a potential stock.

The massive Water Monster had turned into a cute creature. In my heart, I saluted a big grass, at least with the previous height and weight, it looked quite intimidating.

Now it’s turned into a cartoonish little cutie; it probably wouldn’t even scare those paralyzed elderly and weak snakes.

Perhaps sensing my disappointment, the Water Monster, with its new look, explained to me that its body could absorb water, expanding to live in aquatic environments, but in terrestrial environments, it would transform its shape, becoming agile and small, reducing living costs.

I wasn’t interested in the different forms it could take, only wanting to know how effective it was in combat.

To prove to me it was the most formidable creature in this region, the land version of the Water Monster hopped and skipped towards the vault.

This guy wasn’t stupid either, mentioning conditions to me, asking for remuneration after it succeeded.

I recalled Chen Qinghan and the others having beef jerky, so I readily agreed.

Before running far back, I heard banging noises, not knowing what Boss Lu’s men were up to again. The Water Monster and I had to hide our forms, circling to approach the vault door.

Upon getting closer, it became clear that the dead insects were blocking the door, and they were using an air cannon to push aside the insect corpses piled like a small mountain.

The Water Monster, having no knowledge of human culture, thought that was a human skill in itself, marveling with me at the incredible power of human flatulence.

I was too lazy to explain to it, urging it to hurry inside and rescue people. The corrosive insects were already wiped out, and the surrounding snake swarm was still in a concussed state; it’s uncertain if they could recover to normal.

The former ’tomb-protecting’ beast that had made the Tomb Robber flee in panic was now utterly defeated by humans. Indeed, times are changing, and technology is advancing.

The Water Monster waved its tentacles at me, and its body turned a milky white after leaving the lake water, like a spiritual almond pudding.

After Boss Lu’s men cleared the insect corpses from in front of the door, they set up a machine gun in the opening on the door again.

This damned gun riddled my clothes with holes; given the chance, I’d surely dismantle it!

The Water Monster used the rocks for cover, jumping beneath the door. Its tentacles could cling to the smooth stone wall like a spider, gradually approaching the opening.

It was so small; I was uncertain what it could do after squeezing inside, but could only keep in contact with it.

In a very magical turn, as it neared the opening, it changed color, from milky white to transparent, its invisibility skill expanding my horizons.

Thus it stealthily crept inside right under the machine gunner’s nose, and I was so excited I almost wanted to take out the small horn again.

Once inside, the Water Monster sent me one good news and one bad news.

The good news was that Chen Qinghan and the others were still alive. The bad news was that Wen Jing, Shunfeng, and Miss Scream were suspended mid-air by ropes, and the plastic buckets they stood on could be kicked away at any moment.

Boss Lu intended to use them to coerce Chen Qinghan, meaning Chen Qinghan must have something Boss Lu needed.

Both Boss Lu and Chen Qinghan had some understanding of this tomb. Moreover, Chen Qinghan’s friends had visited other Heavenly Maiden Tombs, so the information he gained could very likely be more than what Boss Lu had.

But if Boss Lu merely wanted to extract some information from Chen Qinghan, he could have simply used coercion when entering.

I was anxiously waiting outside, while they were inside my tomb staging a psychological battle, and I became an irrelevant figure excluded from the situation.

Luckily, the Water Monster was relaying messages to me; it saw a ’big creature’ inside the vault, and Boss Lu wanted Chen Qinghan to stop it.
