The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 176 - 177: Reception
All of us had our belongings searched by them, except for Bi Shi, who managed to hide the music box in advance.
There was also a small item from the Undersea City that escaped confiscation due to its invisibility.
But I believe the blonde old man was quite disappointed because the leader and his team even lost their weapons, and we didn’t have anything that caught his interest.
Clearly, the mission led by the fake Meng Qingyu ended in failure.
Without the ’key,’ those who escape alive have value; otherwise, the leader and his team would be silenced immediately.
The three of us in the lower cabin weren’t part of the blonde old man’s plan. He didn’t know us or understand our true identities, which is why he didn’t kill us right away.
After threats with mad dogs and smoke failed, he temporarily stopped the ’interrogation,’ and by then, night had fallen.
To escape, we had only two options: jump into the sea and swim away or hijack a fishing boat.
Jumping into the sea would only allow the three of us to leave, so after discussing it, we agreed on hijacking the boat.
This plan was not only for us but also for the leader and his team, who are all flesh and blood. Once they wake up, they’re likely to suffer physically.
Chen Qinghan suggested waiting until late at night to act, but we discovered that the people on the ship took turns on guard, with at least half always awake and ready.
I clenched my fists, hesitating whether to use the green light, as it was undoubtedly the fastest and easiest way to seize the ship.
Yet I hadn’t told Chen Qinghan that I had acquired new abilities, and at least for now, I didn’t want to tell him.
I had my concerns, so after much hesitation, I chose to remain silent.
Just then, someone opened the hatch to the lower cabin. The young man with the Eastern face relayed the message that ’Captain Jack’ wanted to host us.
Chen Qinghan gave a look to Bi Shi and me, whispering, "Play it by ear."
I thought Captain Jack’s ’hospitality’ meant torture, but it was just as literal as it sounded.
We were taken into a clean and comfortable room, with a full set of new clothes on the chairs, and a bathroom that provided hot water.
Having been in harsh environments for so long, I didn’t think I looked too awful. I had been unsightly in tombs before, and now I was just dirty.
Yet, given the conditions for free, I might as well use them. After coming out of the bathroom, I could still smell the odor of rotten fish and shrimp in the room.
Probably when entering, the smell had stuck to the soles of my shoes and was now on the carpet. Unlike in movies, Captain Jack prepared jungle outfits for the ladies instead of evening gowns.
While bathing, I left the small item outside the bathroom, and when I came out, I saw the water dispenser in the room automatically dispensing water.
The cold water tap was on, but not a drop spilled onto the floor; all disappeared into thin air.
The bottle was full before I showered, yet by the time I came out, it was nearly empty.
Thump... thump... thump...
A strange sound accompanied the depression in the carpet, ’jumping’ onto the bed bit by bit, and the soft double bed suddenly sank into a hollow. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
It seemed the small item, having drunk itself into a water balloon, rolled around the bed a few times before stopping.
Being liquid itself, it drinks to ’fill’ itself—what kind of spirit is this?
I changed into new clothes, tied up my hair, and prepared to communicate with it seriously.
This thing can understand us when we speak, but I’ve never received its ’thoughts.’ This situation has only occurred with one type of creature—could it be human?
My Mind Reading Technique only works on intelligent animals and is ineffective on humans so far.
Although the ’supernatural’ event the small item just caused might have been captured by hidden cameras in the room, I still had to take precautions.
Luckily, I found no cameras but only a few eavesdropping devices.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, giving me no extra time, and surely, Captain Jack knew through the bug that I’d finished bathing.
Outside stood two familiar faces—the ones who had taken me to the interrogation room before, now here to escort me to the dining room.
I initially planned to leave the small item in the room; it’s too round from drinking, and if stuck to my back, it might be noticed.
But it clearly refused to stay, suddenly jumping onto my back. Taken off guard, I stumbled forward, embracing the hallway’s large vase.
The two burly men escorting me were startled. I eyed the vase and muttered, "Tsk... I thought it was a Ming Dynasty antique, turns out it’s a fake."
The two burly men looked at me as if I were crazy, but fortunately, they didn’t suspect the existence of the small item.
Yet, with every step I took, there was a ’dropping’ sensation and a peculiar water sound behind me.
It was as if I carried a bottle of purified water on my back; any movement would trigger a bubbling water sound.
And this wasn’t even the worst. I feared that too large a movement might burst the small item like a water balloon.
"Did you hear something?" the burly man on my left asked.
"It sounded like water," replied the one on my right.
They spoke in a foreign language. Though I understood it, I pretended not to.
They both inspected me, wearing a jungle outfit jacket unzipped, with a tight-fitting short-sleeved T-shirt underneath. My flat, solid abs showed no sign of being injected with water.
I intentionally held my breath a bit, hoping my abs looked more pronounced. These two burly men always had an arrogant demeanor, but their bellies were only slightly better than beer bellies. I wanted to tell them—without abs, you can’t be the male lead.
Regrettably, they quickly looked away, shrugged, and said they might have heard wrong.
Then they knocked on the neighboring room’s door, bringing out all three of us to head towards the dining room together.
After walking for a while, Bi Shi looked back at me strangely, asking if I heard any sound.
I said there were many sounds at sea, all water sounds, so of course, it was the sound of water.
Bi Shi saw I was being evasive and didn’t ask further. She knew there were Captain Jack’s men around us, making it inconvenient for me to speak openly.
The fishing boat’s dining room wasn’t as luxurious as a cruise liner, but we weren’t here for dinner anyway. Captain Jack sat at a table in the center of the dining room, with only one plate in front of him.
He was cutting steak with a knife and fork, and when he saw us coming, motioned for us to sit down.
Only up close did I see that the other three seats at the table each had an item.
Chen Qinghan’s treasure sword, my broken stone, Bi Shi’s... bundle?!
On discovering the fishing boat, I’d stuffed the pearl hairpin from the Undersea City into my shoe, and during the search, they found my compass, took it for a toy, and returned it to me.
But for some unknown reason, they took the broken stone I’d picked up from Bi Shi’s tomb.
