The Husband I Snatched Is Not Right!-Chapter 67: I’m a Normal Man
Yu Tingwan reflected for a moment.
This is indoors, not outside, and Wei Shen is her husband, not an outsider.
No problem.
It’s just that he’s making a big fuss!
All wet, if she didn’t change, she’d be so cold.
Wei Shen is not considerate!
Yu Tingwan pursed her lips.
Even if they haven’t consummated their marriage, she and Wei Shen have been living and eating together for a while, they should have developed some feelings, right?
After all, she escaped the jaws of death but didn’t see Wei Shen show any concern.
If he’s not concerned, that’s fine, but he even fusses over her being exposed.
Is it unattractive?
Yu Tingwan looked down at herself in confusion.
Her skin was as delicate as a freshly peeled lychee.
She was left with only thin underpants below, with short legs that exposed her frost-bitten red ankles, and a dusty gray undergarment on top.
But upon closer inspection, it was clear it had been washed to the point of fading.
The undergarment was made last year, and a young woman’s body changes quickly. Now it didn’t fit properly; it was tight and accentuated her graceful curves.
Her chest was full and about to spill out.
Normally, girls wore more clothing, appearing clumsy. But now her slender waist was exposed to the air.
Another girl in this situation, with a husband avoiding her, would be too embarrassed to face anyone.
But not Yu Tingwan.
Why should she care if Wei Zhao has no appreciation?
The basin inside the room was burning with charcoal fire, made from the stove room. It was much more convenient than the firewood Yu Tingwan previously used.
She picked up a long-handled poker beside her, stirring the fire to make it burn brighter.
After she finished these tasks, Yu Tingwan expressionlessly took off her undergarment as well.
Using a cotton cloth to wipe the moisture from her body, she glanced around, then walked to the bed on tiptoe.
If it weren’t for her dirty hair, Yu Tingwan would have crawled onto the bed and hid under the quilt to warm up. But for now, she had to settle for taking the cotton clothes from the wooden rack beside the bed.
They were Wei Zhao’s usual clothes.
Yu Tingwan’s teeth chattered as she unhesitatingly put them on and wrapped herself tightly.
Wei Zhao was tall, and the cotton clothes appeared as if a child had stolen an adult’s clothing when she wore them. Seeing her limited movement, Yu Tingwan folded the cuffs and pant legs.
Hearing the rustle of clothing, Wei Zhao couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
But when he saw what Yu Tingwan was wearing.
The slender figure wrapped in the cotton clothes, he had glimpsed a moment ago. His eyes deepened, and his throat tightened.
"Wan Niang."
From outside came Hui Niang’s knocking voice.
"I boiled some ginger soup to warm you up. Is it convenient to come in now?"
Indeed! Men are unreliable; at critical times, it’s the mother-in-law who is better.
Yu Tingwan ran to open the door.
The ginger soup was pungent, but it was mixed with brown sugar. A few sips and she felt warm all over.
She smiled at Hui Niang, "Thank you, Mother."
Hui Niang didn’t seem to mind her outfit.
But she frowned, due to the delay in making cotton clothes for Yu Tingwan because of the inability to go to the county to buy fabric.
The girl had married in with barely enough clothes, and no spare cotton clothes.
Hui Niang: "The hot water is ready too, where do you want to wash?"
You can’t blame her for asking.
The house is small, without a specific bathroom, villagers bathe by pulling a curtain in the room.
Since Yu Tingwan married in, Hui Niang worried the young girl loved cleanliness and was shy, so she arranged a new wooden tub in the adjacent Lady Xiao’s room for her to use.
There were soap pods and the daily hand cream that the girl used, all prepared.
But now Yue Shan was residing in that room.
Yu Tingwan had been using the old house for washing these days.
Seeing her looking exhausted and weary, Hui Niang knew she was worn out.
Even though the old house was just next door, Hui Niang couldn’t bear to see the young girl go out in the wind and snow again.
"What do you think, should you wash in Mother’s room?"
She could move the usual bath barrel she used into there, not much effort.
Yu Tingwan truly didn’t want to move; too much exertion had left her exhausted, and her head still ached.
She just wanted to wash up and go to sleep.
About to agree, she thought of something else.
"No need. Mother, I’ll wash here."
She wasn’t inclined to even enter the in-laws’ room.
Wei Zhao: ?
He sat upright, looking deeply.
Hui Niang glanced at Wei Zhao, then at Yu Tingwan, feeling both tender and gratified.
Who said her daughter-in-law wasn’t practical!
"Mother worries you won’t feel comfortable."
Yu Tingwan stated, "I won’t be."
Hui Niang: "Okay, Mother will bring in the water and barrel."
She was about to leave.
Wei Zhao slowly said, "I will."
Hui Niang paused.
Really, having such a good daughter-in-law is a blessing.
She went out with large strides, as if she hadn’t heard the comment.
Once she was gone, Yu Tingwan glanced at Wei Zhao.
The girl was quite perplexed.
"Why are you..."
She arranged her words.
"Acting like such a chaste maiden."
She was helpless, "As if I would do anything to you."
Hui Niang moved quickly, bringing in the wooden barrel and adding hot water.
She stooped to pick up the clothes on the ground.
Yu Tingwan hurriedly said, "Mother, I’ll wash them later myself."
Hui Niang gently replied, "Wash up and rest, I can do this. After washing, I’ll hang them to dry overnight."
"Once the meal is ready, I’ll call you."
As she was about to leave, Yu Tingwan tenderly called, "Mother, why don’t you stew the ginseng for my husband."
Hui Niang responded in agreement, "Alright, whatever you say..."
Suddenly, she was stunned, afraid she heard wrong.
"Stew what?"
Yu Tingwan’s eyes sparkled, radiating a brilliant smile.
"Ginseng."
She led Hui Niang to see the basket placed in the corner.
"Look, Mother, it’s all excellent herbal medicine."
"On my way back, I was afraid the villagers might see, so I covered it with wild vegetables and took a longer route."
She understood the principle of making a silent fortune.
Most villagers in Xilin Village were good, but there were also some with malicious intent.
With Wei Shouzhong not around, if someone sneaked in at night, what could she and Hui Niang, two women, do?
You can’t blame Yu Tingwan for being cautious.
Hui Niang’s legs nearly buckled when she saw it, quickly turning to close the door cautiously.
She breathed shallowly, fearing she’d seen wrong. She wanted to take it up for a closer look, but hesitated, wiping her hands forcefully on her skirt.
Then she reached out with both hands to accept the ginseng Yu Tingwan handed over.
No mistake.
She felt her whole body light, like walking on clouds, yet afraid of falling off them carelessly.
Her voice trembled, "These... were these all gathered from the mountains...?"
Fearing Hui Niang might worry, Yu Tingwan didn’t mention the tiger incident.
"Yes."
Hui Niang fell silent.
Yu Tingwan truly was a lucky star for the family!
Even the deep mountains might not have yielded so much!
Clearly, Lang’s fate wasn’t meant to end!
Hui Niang, dizzy with emotions, carried the clothes and ginseng out.
Inside, the heat swirled, enveloped in mist.
Yu Tingwan, dragging heavy footsteps, went ahead.
Behind her, Wei Zhao’s voice sounded, soft, seeming to carry a warning.
"No matter what, I am still a normal man."
Yu Tingwan found it inexplicable.
But she wasn’t pleased at the moment. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She responded nonchalantly, "If you say so, then so be it."
