The Hunter's Lively Wife-Chapter 2039: Absurd
After Mrs. Chu heard Su Yunjin’s suggestion, she went back and found a female master for Aluo, asking her to teach Aluo reading and literacy.
Mrs. An saw this and immediately thought it was absurd and scolded Mrs. Chu.
"Hey, fifth daughter-in-law, what’s wrong with you? Is there too much money at home? Or do you have money with no place to spend it? A little girl, instead of teaching her embroidery and needlework properly, you actually hired a master to teach her reading and literacy?"
Mrs. An showed her dissatisfaction, Mrs. Chu said, "Mother, sister-in-law said now is the time for girls to read a bit and recognize some characters while they’re young. Otherwise, they might become blind fools in the future. Anyway, hiring a master doesn’t cost much Silver, it’s not a bad thing for the kids to recognize some characters."
"No, I don’t agree. A little girl should focus on supporting her husband and teaching her children in the future. What’s the point of learning to read and write? Don’t waste Silver for nothing." Mrs. An did not agree with Mrs. Chu hiring a master to teach Aluo literacy.
Mrs. Chu, helpless, had to look at Gu Jianghai standing beside her.
Gu Jianghai knew his mother’s temper and saw that Aluo and a few other children were happily playing together in the yard.
Gu Jianghai said, "Mother, my wife and I hired a master not only to teach Aluo but also to let Xiaoshan and Xiangxiang learn as well, right? Isn’t Brother’s Dabao also not in school? They can all come together to study and learn literacy."
Mrs. An when she heard this, was a bit softened immediately. Whether Aluo and Xiangxiang learned or not didn’t matter much. But if Xiaoshan and Dabao could join as well, it could be negotiable.
Gu Jianghai could see Mrs. An was already interested.
He continued, "Mother, alright, let’s settle this matter. I’ve already paid half of the master’s monthly fee. If you don’t agree, the Silver will really be wasted."
Mrs. An didn’t oppose further, she snorted, "If not for the sake of my two eldest grandsons, I wouldn’t have let you hire any female master to come back."
Gu Jianghai and Mrs. Chu exchanged smiles, thankful that Mrs. An finally agreed. Aluo didn’t need to take the imperial examination, and the couple of Mrs. Chu and Gu Jianghai didn’t plan to make Aluo study too much. Just being able to recognize some characters would be sufficient.
Thus, the hired master taught the four children reading and literacy every day.
Mrs. An has been nagging in Gu Chengxiang’s ear every day, hoping he would move with her to live in Gu Ya and Su Yunjin’s house in town. Unfortunately, Mrs. An’s mouth was worn out from persuasion, but Gu Chengxiang was still unmoved.
Mrs. An now focuses her attention on Gu Ya and Su Yunjin, and the matter of the children studying with the master doesn’t concern her much. She just opposed briefly and then didn’t pay attention.
Gu Chengxiang insisted on not moving to town, Mrs. An couldn’t persuade him, so she decided to move to town herself first. After living there for a few days, she would try persuading Gu Chengxiang again. Hoping he would move to town with her.
Gu Ya said they planned to take Su Yunjin to the dock today for a look and could take a boat tour nearby.
The dock has many interesting things around as well as plenty of delicious food. Su Yunjin was moved by Gu Ya’s talk and couldn’t wait to go to the dock with him.
Mrs. An packed two bundles and brought with her some clothes and things she usually used.
Since Gu Chengxiang refused to move with her to town, Mrs. An left Xiaoshan and Xiangxiang in the care of Gu Chengxiang.
Usually, the two children stayed with Mrs. An; Gu Tiezhu didn’t care about the children at all, only indulging in gambling and drinking, not having enough money, and being badly in debt.
