The Hunted Regressor: My Heretic Saint System-Chapter 18: Enough! II
’So you were expecting such an outcome?’
Eris seemed to have noticed his little... surprise, taking him out of his thoughts.
"Hm, yes. These three are strong... to say the least; hiding such an alien Soul Glyph from them would’ve been nearly impossible. Especially that last one. No doubt he’s a being above the Divine Hierarchy, nearing Gods; it wouldn’t have been smart of me to think otherwise."
She nodded, already applauding Her decision.
’It seems I’ve made the right choice in choosing you... finally. Many in your position would’ve already started regretting being in my company.’
Ignotus chuckled.
"Such people would be blind."
He stood up, straightening his clothes.
"Besides, I know exactly what I was getting into, as you were, I’m sure."
Eris nodded teasingly at him while stepping closer.
’A smart one, you are. My initial reaction was much due to that.’
Ignotus barely stopped himself from backing off.
"So you saw more than my Luck Root Rune and Soul Glyphs?"
She nodded.
’Yes, I saw this weird-looking projection of yours, though I know not its name.’
He didn’t mind if She knew that much, so he revealed the truth:
"It calls itself a Saint System... something I’ve learned of after beholding a Truth."
Eris was going to be with him for long; it’d be dumb to hide this from Her.
Of course, he wasn’t going to reveal everything, but he’d reveal enough.
"It was bestowed upon me by whom you want to return."
She raised a brow, pausing before him.
’The Higher Gods? You’ve met them?’
Ignotus nodded.
"It seems so."
Her soft smile widened more than ever.
’Then your Luck has brought me to you.’
"Would you call this Fated?"
’It is, isn’t it?’
"..."
Ignotus said nothing to that.
Finding no issue, Eris touched his chest.
Or rather, She touched his heart, searching for his Soul.
When She found it, Her form began to dissipate, joining his being.
’Do excuse me, Seeker Ignotus. I’ve no home, so I’d like to join you and aid you directly.’
Ignotus shook his head.
"Make yourself at home. I haven’t exactly had someone reside in my Soul before, so I don’t know how to make it more... comfortable for you, but please, welcome."
Her chuckle echoed in his mind.
’Don’t worry about it; your Soul is... bigger than most, at least in your class. Perhaps that’s due to your bestowment?’
"..."
He knew exactly the reason why his Soul was ’bigger,’ but again, he said nothing, not wanting to mention his regression, not yet at least; he had to know Her more before deciding to reveal such a core thing about himself.
And, again, not finding any problem with that, She continued:
’Once we leave this local Parish, my ability to talk with you will be massively affected, as I’m too weak to sustain myself so far from such centers of Divinity. I’d only be able to talk to you a few times throughout the day. Oh, and you can speak to me with your thoughts.’
Ignotus nodded.
’Like... like this?’
’Yes. It is simply applying Divinity to your words.’
’I see. But this limitation of yours... it’ll change as I get stronger, won’t it?’
’It would. The more Divinity your Soul holds, and the more my Name is heard, the more I can do. Someday, I’d even be able to physically descend to this realm.’
’Hm, I understand, and well... don’t get too talkative. I’ll do as you ask.’
Those words of his were rude, but She didn’t take issue with them.
Rather, there was much She wouldn’t take issue with.
Eris was desperate for relief.
’If you do, then don’t worry about the other Gods. I won’t allow any of Them to touch you.’
Oh... She was obsessive, wasn’t She? 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
’Fun.’
As soon as he thought that—
Ding!
That annoying sound echoed for the third time.

’Huh... so this is how the... sy...stem looks from your perspective.’
Ignotus tilted his head for a moment before letting out an "Ah..."
’You can see all that I can, right?’
Eris chuckled softly.
’Not to worry, I won’t see any of your... private moments.’
’Hm. Like me yanking the chicken?’
He teased, and she, surprisingly, reacted in embarrassment.
’N-NO. L-LIKE R-RELIEVING—’
’I get it, I get it; no need to torture yourself.’
Ignotus shook his head.
’Yeah, no, it’s fine. I just wanted to confirm.’
He was shameless; he didn’t care for what She saw.
He simply wanted to know the extent of Her voyeurism ability.
Just in case there was something he needed to... hide.
’A-As long as you know.’
Ignotus chuckled.
’She’s a cute one.’
With that, he took pause and began to plan ahead.
Now that he was being hunted, he needed to move fast.
No longer could he work on his previous framework.
And so, he needed to do a few... extreme things.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t survive.
But even though it didn’t take him long to come up with something, a familiar problem arose.
How could he travel long distances without using up whatever little coppers he had? Felix wasn’t of much help, as he barely had anything as well, forcing him to be a lot more creative...
Though that wasn’t anything bad.
At least that was something he knew that he was quite good at.
’You seem to have come to a decision. What are you planning to do?’
His grin widened as he lowered the cloth covering his head.
’Watch and see.’
He went back to the receptionist area, where Felix was waiting for him.
"Have you chosen, Young Lord?"
Ignoring his question, Ignotus pointed at the far end of the space.
"Hey, Spoon, go stand over there. We need our stuff stored; when I give you the signal, use our name. We’ll be going on a trip."
Knowing better than to ask questions, Felix bowed a little and went ahead.
Passing the many honey traps standing behind the counters, Ignotus walked up to one of the older, more experienced ladies.
"Hey, I’m done kneeling, and I’m here to sign up..."
She looked up at him, and he continued:
"I’m on my second try right now, but don’t mind it, alright?"
Her face became all confused.
"...What? I beg your pardon?"
He nodded.
"Then beg."
Her confusion multiplied.
"W-What? Excuse me, I-I—"
"You’re excused."
He cut her off, which finally turned her confusion into anger.
"Sir! I’m sorry, but—"
"You will be."
She slammed her hand on the table, having had enough of him cutting her off, doing what his crab of a family had taught him, and unknowingly, she found herself mimicking his father.
"That’s enough!"
