Chapter 267: Have It All I

"Soleia!"

The scream that tore out of Rafael’s mouth sounded more animal than man. His face was twisted with grief and fear, focused entirely on her face. He dashed towards her as fast as his limbs were able. His body felt like it was made of rubber, and he couldn’t find footing. His world was spinning off its axis as he watched Soleia’s face turn gray and wan.

Soleia wanted to tell him to save his effort. It wasn’t going to make a difference, now that the situation had come to this. Their child was most likely dead thanks to their grandfather, and their mother would be following suit.

As though she could read his thoughts, Soleia met his eyes. With a weak cough, a mouthful of blood escaped from her lips and fell to the floor in a splatter. She felt the last of her strength leave her body, flowing out of her through her wound.

In contrast, King Recaldo’s eyes glinted with fervent joy.

His eyes were eerily bloodshot, and one could spot the blood under his skin that seemed to glow an iridescent red, forming maps and trails that led down his neck and through the rest of his body. If Soleia was not on the verge of death, she would have marvelled at the chance to explore how blood flowed internally in the human body.

But she was on the verge of death.

Her earrings were dimming already. Snippets of her life began to float through her mind, and she could only lament at what a pathetic existence she had lived. The start of her married life was a disaster on all fronts. If she had known this was the result, she would have joined the nunnery.

But she would not have met Rafael. Then again, if she never met him, he would probably live longer. freёnovelkiss.com

Rafael should be running away from his crazy father, instead of coming closer. But Rafael was a man who lost all his senses when he was in love. He didn’t care about his father or the throne any longer. He simply had to reach Soleia’s side and hold her. He had to heal her. Soleia couldn’t die like this!

"You did well enough," King Recaldo announced, patting her on her cheek, a mockery of paternal affection.

He felt an overwhelming surge of power well up within him, and it felt like he could control every drop of blood in the vicinity. His son would pose no threat to him now.

Soleia gritted her teeth as blood trickled past the corner of her lips, only to fly into the sky to join the ever-growing swirl of blood that was under King Recaldo’s control. She took one shaky breath and forced her eyes to open rather than remain hooded over.

Her eyes trailed after every single blood vessel that was in King Recaldo’s body. He was glowing as though he were a firefly― or a canister that was about to combust.

Then, slowly but surely, she placed her hand on the blade that was in her abdomen.

King Recaldo smiled mockingly, almost in a bit of pity, as he watched Soleia struggle to move. He clicked his tongue and shook his head.

"Are you attempting to nullify my power, Princess?" King Recaldo asked. Seeing that he was still brimming with energy and his magic still answered his calls, it seemed more than obvious that she was all too unsuccessful.

In fact, even if she was at her best, he wasn’t sure whether or not she could nullify his abilities at this stage.

He felt like a god.

"A good attempt," he continued, his voice all too fatherly. "But save your last bit of energy to bid your lover farewell. But I suppose he would join you soon enough, so there might not be a need to say goodbye so soon."

But Soleia said nothing. She didn’t even shake her head, or nod, or even spit a mixture of blood and saliva in his face despite her very much wanting to. Rather, she gripped the blood spear a little tighter, her hands bleeding as a result.

Her blood flew straight for King Recaldo and curled around his hands, as though it was an arrogant lover demanding attention, but Soleia didn’t even bat an eyelid. The dimming glow of her earrings flickered, turned dim, then suddenly burst into a bright flash of light that blinded everyone in the room.

King Recaldo, who was standing closest to Soleia, squeezed his eyes shut in reflex. Even Rafael had no choice but to shut his eyes, unable to look despite so desperately wanting to keep Soleia in his field of vision.

"Have. It. All." Soleia forced the words out of her mouth, blood pouring from her lips every single time she parted her lips. The glow turned brighter and brighter.

At first, warmth swarmed into King Recaldo’s body, which was highly similar to how he had experienced Soleia’s amplification abilities previously. But quickly enough, what was warm and comforting soon became hot and painful, as though there were millions of fire ants that had wormed under his skin.

Instantly, he pulled his sword back, and blood burst from Soleia’s abdomen to join the rest that Recaldo commanded. He took a step back, fear ordering him to drive some distance between them.

But for a woman who was already dancing on a fine line with death, Soleia had a lot more strength left in her than Recaldo could ever imagine. She lunged forward and, with her last efforts, dug her nails right into the skin of his forearm.

Her selenite earrings almost turned nuclear, and the heat from the stones were so intense that when King Recaldo screamed from the burning pain, Soleia joined her as well. Even from where Rafael stood, he could feel a sudden blast of warmth that trickled into him, seeping into his skin and into his flesh and blood.

All of a sudden, a crisp shatter could be heard as Soleia’s earrings fell to the floor, splintered into a thousand pieces.
