The Heaven-Cursed Costs Life, But I Have Infinite Life-Chapter 45: Theron Fleeing, Leaving Blackspire
"Kid, you actually killed Evander!"
Theron stared at Evander’s brutal death, his frown deepening.
He had wanted to protect Allen and even take him as a disciple. But now, with Evander dead, the Church of Light would never let him go.
"Don’t worry, old man. You’ll be joining him very soon," Allen said. Seeing that Lilia was badly hurt but not in immediate danger, he let out a sigh of relief and turned his gaze toward Theron.
Lucas was also heavily injured. At the peak of Stage 5, he simply couldn’t stand a chance against a Stage 6 Ascetic.
"Heaven’s Punishment: Tempest Slash!"
Allen shouted lightly and unleashed Tempest Slash. Countless blades of light flashed across the sky, completely surrounding Theron.
Theron didn’t dare to be careless. He activated his defensive skills instantly, and a yellow-gold light shield wrapped around his body, easily blocking the storm of blades.
Without Evander to help, Theron couldn’t finish Allen, but Allen couldn’t touch him either.
"Kid, we’ll meet again!"
Theron let out a soft sigh, curled his body into a ball, and looked exactly like a scared turtle hiding in its shell.
Suddenly, sharp spikes burst from his body, and he began rolling outward like a ball.
"Trying to run?"
Allen was surprised. He immediately unleashed dozens of blades of light, chasing after Theron relentlessly.
Clang... Clang...
The blades struck Theron’s ball-shaped form, making sharp ringing sounds, but he remained completely unharmed.
Then, the ground churned. Theron, still in his ball form, burrowed straight underground.
Allen lost sight of his target and appeared on the surface, staring at the fresh hole in the earth with a deep frown. "What kind of monster is that guy?"
Lucas walked over. "That must be a special skill. Just like the blade attack you just used, he taught it himself."
"Truly strange," Allen muttered, even more curious. Theron’s ability made him look like a real monster.
"What about the rest of them?" Allen asked, looking at Lucian and the others nearby.
"These people cannot be kept alive."
Lucas replied with a cold expression. They all knew Allen and Lilia’s secrets. They absolutely could not let anyone with that knowledge leave alive.
Lucas clicked his fingers. Shadows flickered around them, and over thirty Shadow Guards appeared, surrounding the group.
At that moment, Lucian was already frozen in terror. Allen had killed Evander, and Theron had escaped. This was not the outcome he had expected.
He had thought that with two Stage 6 Ascetics on his side, he would be invincible here in Blackspire. He never imagined a monster like Allen would exist.
"Lucas! Even if Theron Lord escapes, even if you kill us, the Church of Light will never forgive such a villain!" Lucian stared coldly at Lucas and Allen, his voice filled with rage.
Plop!
Suddenly, Lucian’s knees gave way, and he collapsed to the ground, his face pale with terror. "Lord Lucas, please! It was all the priest’s doing! I know nothing! Have mercy on me!"
"Useless fool!"
The priest screamed in anger, kicking Lucian flat to the ground with a look of pure contempt.
So this is what a noble from the Capital looks like? High birth, yet a coward who fears death above all.
Lucas let out a cold scoff. He ignored the priest and looked down at Lucian. "I ask, you answer."
"Y-yes! Yes!"
Lucian nodded frantically from the ground.
Slap!
A sharp sound echoed through the air. A clear red handprint instantly appeared on Lucian’s face, and blood trickled from his mouth. He froze in shock.
"Did I ask you to speak?" Lucas asked coldly.
Tears welled up in Lucian’s eyes. He opened his mouth, then immediately clamped it shut, terrified. He was shocked and furious; he had never been humiliated like this in his entire life.
Allen, still supporting the pale and weak Lilia, looked on in surprise. "Does your dad always treat people like this?" he asked curiously.
Lilia shot him an annoyed glance but didn’t answer.
Lucas turned back to Lucian. "Why are you here in Blackspire?"
Lucian swallowed hard. "I heard the The Elf Saintess was near Blackspire. I wanted to capture her and present her to Lord Pontiff ."
"Was this really a bounty posted by your Church?" Lucas asked, surprised. "Why does Pontiff Lord want to capture The Elf Saintess?"
"It seems Pontiff Lord’s life is reaching its end," Lucian said without hiding anything. "Only The Elf Saintess’s blood can extend his life."
As he spoke, he secretly glanced at Allen. He had already learned about Allen’s secret. This guy’s blood held powerful life energy, even stronger than The Elf Saintess’s.
"Pontiff Lord’s life is ending?"
Lucas frowned deeply. "I remember the Light Pope is at the peak of Stage 9. His natural lifespan is 500 years. He’s only over 200 now. How could his time be up already?"
"A Stage 9 powerhouse can live for 500 years?"
Allen was curious. He didn’t know this detail; he had always thought only his Art of Immortality could extend life. Still, the extra years a Stage 9 master gained were nothing compared to the power of his Art of Immortality.
"I don’t know the details, but that’s what the rumors say," Lucian replied nervously. "My Lord, I’ve told you everything I know. Can you let me go now?"
"Fair enough!"
Lucas smiled indifferently. His spear flashed with cold light and instantly pierced Lucian’s throat.
"Hack... hack..."
Lucian’s eyes bulged in terror. He clutched his throat, trying to gasp for air, but blood just kept pouring out. Finally, he collapsed in a pool of his own blood, dying with regret and hatred in his eyes.
"Hmph, Lucas! Even if you kill us, you can’t keep this secret. Theron Lord has already escaped. The Church of Light will never let you get away with this!"
Seeing Lucian’s death, the priest looked solemn. Black mist swirled around his body. His clothes tore behind him, revealing massive devil wings.
Allen had almost forgotten that this guy had become a vampire.
Whoosh!
A fierce wind howled as the priest shot straight into the sky. At the same moment, a fireball and a spear flew toward Allen.
Boom!
The fireball exploded, spraying blood everywhere. The spear struck true, piercing the priest’s body.
He crumpled to the ground instantly, his life gone.
"Hmph, I actually thought you didn’t fear death," Lucas sneered, pulling his spear back.
"My Lord, isn’t this too obvious? There are plenty of adventurers nearby," Allen said, looking at the dead bodies of the Church of Light. Since this was the outer edge of the Blackspire, adventurers passed through constantly. They couldn’t possibly hide this.
"It doesn’t matter. We can’t stay in Blackspire anyway," Lucas replied casually.
"Dad, are you going to the Chaos Zone with us?" Lilia asked, hope bright in her eyes.
She had never been separated from Lucas in her life, so the thought of parting was hard for her.
Lucas shook his head. "I’m not going with you."
He looked a bit melancholy but didn’t say much, adding, "Let’s head back to the city first. You need to rest and heal your injuries."
"Wait a minute," Allen said, his eyes locking onto the corpses on the ground. Since they were elite soldiers of the Church of Light, they must have good loot. Excitedly, he started rummaging through them.
"Hey! Save some for me!"
Lilia’s eyes lit up. Ignoring her own injuries, she zeroed in on the bloody, grotesque body of Evander.
This guy was a Stage 6 powerhouse, so he definitely had something valuable on him.
Lucas frowned when he saw this. When had his daughter become such a greedy miser?
It had to be that bastard Allen teaching her bad habits!
Evander only left behind a single staff. Lilia inspected it curiously. It was just an ordinary staff, but a small bead carved into it caught her eye.
"A Space Storage Item!"
Lilia was shocked. She quickly plucked the small bead off and examined it.
Inside, there was a storage space of only about one cubic meter.
"So poor? Is this guy really a Stage 6 master?" Lilia sighed in disbelief. The space contained nothing but two gray robes, a vial of Holy Water, and a yellowed Codex. There wasn’t a single gold coin in sight.
Holy Water was precious and great for healing, but it was deadly to her as a vampire.
Lilia picked up the Codex. The text on the pages was completely unfamiliar. "Dad, what is this?"
She handed the Codex to Lucas and asked curiously.
Lucas glanced at it and shook his head. "This looks like Dwarf script. I don’t recognize it either."
Lilia frowned. Since a Stage 6 Ascetic would keep this precious, it must be something special.
She couldn’t help but look at Allen, her eyes gleaming with hope.
The other Bright Knights and Lucian had surely been much richer.
Allen had already dug up hundreds of thousands of gold coins, a few Uncommon equipment pieces, and a vial of Holy Water.
"Here, Allen. Take this for yourself, and we’ll split the rest," Lilia said, handing over the Space Storage bead.
"Okay."
Allen took it happily. Just this one Space Storage item was worth millions of gold coins.
"Enough, let’s go back to the City Lord’s Mansion," Lucas said, unable to watch any longer as he urged them on.
...
The group returned to the City Lord’s Mansion. There was a lot of noise outside the city, but Lucas suppressed it quickly, so no major panic broke out.
Over the past few days, Allen kept helping Lilia heal her injuries, losing quite a bit of blood in the process.
However, with his Art of Immortality restoring his health, it didn’t affect him at all.
Plus, his Art of Immortality had gained over 110,000 points of proficiency. This was likely due to the fierce battle outside the city.
It seemed combat could speed up Art of Immortality training, especially when Allen was injured or near death. In those moments, the technique ran much faster.
It looked like he should seek out more life-or-death battles in the future.
Allen had found a way to train Art of Immortality, but he couldn’t be too careless. Although Art of Immortality could restore his injuries and extend his life quickly, he was not truly immortal.
If he faced a real life-or-death crisis, even with Art of Immortality working overtime, he could still be in danger of dying.
After seven days, Lilia’s injuries were mostly healed. Her destroyed devil wings hadn’t grown back yet, but she could move freely again.
They were ready to set off for the Chaos Zone.
"Here is a letter of recommendation," Lucas said, handing a sealed letter to Allen. "Go to the Chaos Zone and find Professor Lynch at the Apocalypse Academy. He will help you. If you get into trouble, you can also ask him or Simon for help."Lucas added a final warning before they left.
Simon and The Elf Saintess had been gone for nearly two months. Unless something went wrong, they should have already arrived at the Chaos Zone by now.
