The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 248 Qin Wenjun’s New Plan_1
"Why throw it away? This bed is pretty good, I think we should keep it," Li Qing said.
Auntie Caili’s cheeks suddenly turned a noticeably bright red.
Li Qing really thought the bed was quite good, brand new, and quite large.
But in Auntie Caili’s eyes, Li Qing’s words clearly meant he couldn’t bear to part with her, wanting something to remember her by.
"I think it looks good too," Han Mei also said, "Auntie, you take what you can use and leave behind what you can’t. Don’t throw anything away; I’ll deal with it slowly later on."
"Okay then." Auntie Caili stretched out the sheets in a pretentious manner, and after waiting for that flustered feeling to pass, she took Han Mei and Li Qing to the front and explained in detail the method of stocking goods and the price of each item.
Li Qing found all those matters very headache-inducing. He stayed for a while and then left.
He had to go to Wenguan Garden to pick leaves.
Recently, the second flush of tender leaves in Wenguan Garden had finally grown enough and needed to be picked as soon as he could find the time.
Li Qing kept busy until the evening before he stopped his work, washed up, and went to the grocery store.
He went to see how familiar Han Mei was getting with everything and also planned to settle the payment with Auntie Caili.
Just as he approached the grocery store, Li Qing suddenly saw Wu Xingxing.
She was busily arranging tables and chairs under the large willow tree that required three people to embrace its trunk.
"What are you doing there?" Li Qing asked.
Looking up and seeing Li Qing, Wu Xingxing’s face flushed, "Can’t you see for yourself? I’m setting up a stall!"
Her words were surprisingly sharp.
Li Qing said with a laugh, "I know you’re setting up a stall, I’m asking what kind of stall it is."
"Anything, really," Wu Xingxing said, pushing back her hanging hair, "It’s so cool under the tree. I’m setting up the stall here so that later on, the villagers can drink beer and chat here." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"We could also sell watermelons on the side, and if we have time, we could even set up a barbecue stall."
Li Qing looked at Wu Xingxing suspiciously.
There seemed to be something off about what she had just said?
"Are you here to help my sister-in-law?" Li Qing asked.
Wu Xingxing patted her white and slender hands, "I’m going to help out long-term; your sister-in-law asked me to help mind the store."
"I get a commission on everything I sell, so I have to make sure this little shop becomes popular."
Li Qing was stunned for a moment.
My sister-in-law really hasn’t given up her scheming ways! She says she won’t rush things, but the moment I turn my back, she calls over Wu Xingxing to watch the store.
"Forget about it being popular, there are only so many people in the village, how much more popular can it get?" Li Qing said with a smile.
Wu Xingxing lifted her proud little chin, "Big boss, I’m really doubting your business acumen right now."
"Earning the money of the villagers won’t make us rich; if we want to earn, we’ve got to take money from people outside."
"Have you not seen it? It’s less than a hundred steps to the national road! There’s so much traffic coming and going on this road every day."
"In the future, by the side of the national road we can put up a sign saying we provide water refilling for trucks and a resting place."
"We could even set up a restaurant here later and offer meals and rest stops, taking care of it all."
Li Qing was taken aback.
Come to think of it, Wu Xingxing’s idea didn’t seem half bad.
There was a similar establishment in the town up front that did business with the passing trucks.
But it wasn’t as comprehensive as what Wu Xingxing had described.
"You really do have a knack for business," Li Qing praised.
Wu Xingxing, who had been wearing a little proud expression, blushed at that remark.
She giggled and waved her little fist at Li Qing, "That’s right. I’m determined to become a rich businesswoman."
Li Qing barely suppressed a laugh.
"With such grand ambitions, you stay busy then, I’ll go see how my sister-in-law is doing with her chores," Li Qing said with a smile.
Wu Xingxing arched her eyebrows, whispering, "As a worldly woman, having such grand ambitions is good enough for me."
When Li Qing entered the convenience store, Han Mei was checking with Auntie Caili against a notebook to see if there were any mistakes in their records.
He hadn’t even started to speak when another figure followed right behind him into the store.
Li Qing turned around and was stunned.
It was Qin Wenjun, who had been out of sight for days without any trace.
"Village Chief Qin, are you looking to buy something?" Auntie Caili greeted with a beaming smile.
Qin Wenjun still had that ’strangers keep out’ expression and pointed at Li Qing, "I’m here to see him."
"To see me?" Li Qing asked, somewhat bewildered, "Are you tailing me?"
She had chased after him so quickly after he arrived; even a dog’s nose isn’t that sharp.
Qin Wenjun’s face darkened, "I saw you from across the street."
"Your eyes are pretty sharp," Li Qing said with a light laugh, "What important matter does the village chief have for me?"
"Let’s talk outside," said Qin Wenjun with a stern face.
Li Qing truly disliked dealing with this woman.
Her expression and tone of voice made it feel like he owed her millions.
But, after all, she was the village chief, and Li Qing couldn’t afford to disrespect her.
Following Qin Wenjun to the big willow tree outside, Li Qing went straight to the point: "Village Chief, just say what you need to."
What comes around goes around.
Li Qing very adeptly mimicked Qin Wenjun’s tone of speaking.
He couldn’t be the only one feeling uncomfortable!
If it had to be uncomfortable, then everyone might as well be in it together!
Qin Wenjun looked up and glanced at Li Qing, "I want to ask you to call a meeting of the villagers!"
"Another meeting?" Li Qing was genuinely surprised.
Did this woman really not know what she was supposed to do?
Just a few days of peace and now she was consumed with the idea of holding another meeting?!
Qin Wenjun’s face became slightly displeased, but it seemed more like she was embarrassed.
She felt awkward.
Hanging her head, Qin Wenjun cleared her throat and said, "I want to do something practical."
"So you admit that what you’ve done before was all for show?" Li Qing said mockingly.
The only good deed she managed had just calmed down in the past two days.
"You..." Qin Wenjun glared at Li Qing, angrily twisting her mouth, "My intentions were good, but I didn’t realize... it would turn out like that. The meeting tomorrow is really important."
"I want to start a village collective project specifically to help left-behind children, the elderly living alone, and particularly disadvantaged families in our village."
Now that sounded quite reliable.
Li Qing asked, "What kind of project are you planning to start?"
"I only have this idea for now; we need to discuss the rest at the meeting," Qin Wenjun replied, "The villagers don’t really trust me at the moment. I talked to Director Tang about this yesterday, but he didn’t convince a single person to come."
Li Qing sneered inwardly, everyone was nearly driven mad by your meetings, how could they possibly show up?
Moreover, Tang Jianmin had recently been the victim one too many times; him wholeheartedly helping you would be a miracle.
"Village Chief, am I to understand that you currently have no concrete plans, you just want to raise money, and then distribute it to the poor households in the village?" Li Qing asked, resting his chin on his hand.
