Chapter 237: Chapter 237: The Sudden Blind Date_1

The two hurriedly cleaned up the aftermath, sweetly nestled together, savoring the beautiful feelings that lingered.

"Let’s go pick wild fruit, there are some really delicious wild fruits on this mountain, and mushrooms too," Yu Lan suddenly suggested.

"Sure, it’s still early," Li Qing said with a smile.

He had noticed that Yu Lan had been slightly off lately, constantly emphasizing that she was his woman.

As if she was afraid Li Qing would abandon her.

This made Li Qing feel somewhat uneasy.

He felt he should spend as much time with her as possible.

But before they could set off, Wu Xingxing’s call suddenly came through.

Li Qing quickly held his breath.

The sound of Yu Lan’s phone was very low, Li Qing tried to listen to what Wu Xingxing was saying, but he could only hear voices without being able to discern the words.

After hanging up, Yu Lan said, "Xingxing is going to your sister-in-law’s house for dinner, she asked if I want to go too?"

So that was it, Li Qing thought to himself, then said, "Let’s go, we’ll go together!"

"They wanted to invite you to dinner last time, but you absolutely refused!"

Yu Lan was a bit torn, "I don’t really like dealing with other people these days."

"There won’t be anyone else at my sister-in-law’s house, just a few of us," Li Qing persuaded.

"Well... okay then," Yu Lan said softly.

When Li Qing and Yu Lan appeared at the doorstep together, the eyes of the few women in the courtyard went wide.

All of them had an expression as if they had seen a ghost.

"Why are you all staring at us like that?" Li Qing asked with a laugh.

"You guys..." Han Mei had a complicated expression.

"When Wu Xingxing called, Auntie Yulan and I were just surveying the land on the mountain, so I took the opportunity to invite Auntie Yulan to come over for dinner," Li Qing explained with a smile.

The look on Han Mei’s face immediately softened, and she enthusiastically took Yu Lan’s hand, "Auntie, I’ve been wanting to invite you over for a long time, but you always declined. Don’t be in a rush to leave today, let’s have a good chat."

Yu Lan smiled gently and nodded.

Li Qing glanced over, went into the kitchen, and took out the garlic, voluntarily assuming the task of peeling it.

Tian Yue’e leaned close to Li Qing, chuckling, "Look at all the women in this room, quite a sight."

"Imagine if all these women were yours, how great that would be. You could schedule them by the day of the week—monday with your sister-in-law, tuesday with Xiao Xingxing, Auntie Yulan on wednesday, and I’d bring up the rear. Give yourself a few days rest, sunday comes last, how perfect."

This teasing banter actually stirred a bit of excitement in Li Qing.

Thinking about such an arrangement, life would be heavenly.

"What do you think? Are you tempted?" Tian Yue’e asked with a grin.

"The schedule sounds good, but I could only manage to put you on sunday," Li Qing said irritably.

Tian Yue’e giggled, "If your heart’s set on it, just act on it, I can help you with that."

"Quit it, go pick the vegetables," Li Qing rolled his eyes.

Tian Yue’e laughed heartily, and sneakily patted Li Qing’s rounded bottom before slipping into the kitchen like a thief.

Li Qing quietly peeled the garlic, gazing over at Wu Xingxing, who sat at the entryway of the main room pretending as if nothing was happening.

She seemed to be avoiding him.

But if she was avoiding him, why did she come to Han Mei’s house?

Li Qing was puzzled, so he simply moved a stool next to Wu Xingxing, "Help me peel some!"

Wu Xingxing, perhaps lost in thought, glanced at Li Qing, her cheeks flushing red quickly.

"Are you avoiding me?" Li Qing asked directly.

"No... Not at all," Wu Xingxing stammered a denial, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

Her reaction instantly confirmed Li Qing’s suspicion.

"Was it because of what happened that night?" Li Qing asked in a hushed voice as he saw Han Mei and Yu Lan entering the kitchen together.

Wu Xingxing’s cheeks immediately turned a bright red. "What happened that night? I don’t remember anything."

Still playing dumb.

Li Qing laughed and deliberately said, "Your butt...is so smooth!"

"Ah!"

Wu Xingxing screamed, her face turning as red as a monkey’s butt as she ran away like the wind.

Li Qing stood there dumbfounded, feeling a bit panicked.

It’s over!

Auntie Yulan and the others are going to find out.

He had not anticipated that Wu Xingxing would react so strongly.

As expected, the three women in the kitchen, hearing the commotion, came out in unison.

"What happened?" Han Mei asked.

Wu Xingxing, with her hands covering her cheeks and a look of horror on her face, said, "He’s so mean, he deliberately scared me with a bug!"

Li Qing breathed a quiet sigh of relief, thankful that the girl was quick to improvise.

"I just wanted you to help me throw it away... How is that deliberate?" Li Qing said with a look of aggrievement.

Yu Lan took a glance at Wu Xingxing and said, "Such a fuss over nothing; I thought it was something serious."

"Let’s go, we have our own work to do." Han Mei glared at Li Qing before turning back into the kitchen.

Li Qing watched as the three women went back into the kitchen, then he turned his head towards Wu Xingxing and deliberately made a grabbing gesture.

Wu Xingxing, with her face still red, mouthed a sentence at Li Qing without making a sound.

Though she hadn’t spoken out loud, Li Qing guessed what she was saying.

It seemed like "you pervert."

Li Qing smiled and didn’t continue to tease Wu Xingxing.

If he caused any more inappropriate trouble and Auntie Han and the others noticed, it would be bad.

The atmosphere during the meal was quite harmonious.

However, both Han Mei and Tian Yue’e were busy attending to Yu Lan and Wu Xingxing, completely ignoring Li Qing.

Li Qing was happy to be left alone, content to simply enjoy the view.

After the meal, Wu Xingxing forcefully took on the daunting task of washing the dishes.

Tian Yue’e, seeing there was nothing else for her to do, went back home first.

Her sister was coming back, so she needed to find time to tidy up the house.

Han Mei and Yu Lan held fans and sat in the yard enjoying the cool breeze and chatting leisurely.

Somehow, their conversation turned to Li Qing.

"Auntie, I heard that Xingxing is now acknowledging you as her godmother?" Han Mei asked cautiously.

Yu Lan nodded, "Her situation is actually quite complicated. It can’t be explained in a few words, but she has indeed acknowledged me as her godmother."

"Then does that mean she can’t be promised to Xiao Wei anymore?" Han Mei asked.

"Her father still wants to become in-laws with our family, but Xingxing isn’t willing, so this matter is likely to fall through," Yu Lan said with a shake of her head.

Han Mei glanced at Li Qing, "I see. Actually, I think Xingxing and Qingzi are well-matched. If possible, I’d like to find an opportunity to propose marriage for Qingzi and see what her family’s attitude is!"

Li Qing, sitting not far away, suddenly widened his eyes.

How did the conversation suddenly turn to this!

"You have that idea too?" Yu Lan asked, shocked.

"Who else is thinking the same thing?" Han Mei asked in surprise.

Yu Lan composed herself, managing a forced smile and said, "Me!"
