Undead Evolution: From Trash To Divine-Chapter 35: Get Lost
"Get lost. As the squad captain, I am kicking you out for putting the lives of everyone in danger..."
Gordon’s face was indifferent as he announced Lukas’s fate.
The rest of the squad members either nodded their heads in agreement or simply stayed silent.
Sam stood there as if he had nothing to do with the situation.
Lukas’s eyes scanned the figures of everyone present, his gaze finally stopping on the beast core in Gordon’s hand.
Slowly, the look in Lukas’s eyes turned slightly chilling. He raised his hand up in the air, three fingers outstretched.
"I will count to three. If you don’t hand over my share, then prepare to face the consequences..."
Lukas was calm and indifferent, his thoughts clear. Although he wanted to stay low-key and not attract too much attention, that didn’t mean he would allow some no-name star refiner with no future ahead of him to take a piss on his face.
The current situation was going beyond his tolerance limit.
Silence!
The temperature in the surroundings seemed to have fallen by a few degrees. Lukas’s words echoed in the heads of all the squadmates present.
Especially Gordon, whose lips curled upward into a mocking grin.
"Just because you killed a lowly mindless monster, did you mistake yourself for someone significant, huh little buddy?
"What if I don’t give you your share? What are you going to do about it, run to your momma to complain?"
Lukas acted as if he had simply not heard those words at all and continued counting.
At some point, once the battle ended, most of the awakeners had rushed to the battle board to purchase items. After all, certain items were limited in supply, so they had to hurry.
As such, the surroundings were mostly deserted. Only the torn open corpses of Cometfang Wolves and butchered bodies of weaklings lay everywhere.
After looking around, Lukas’s gaze focused on Gordon’s figure again.
"Three!"
"Finished counting, little lamb?" Gordon snickered, an ugly smile appearing on his face.
Countless thoughts flashed through Lukas’s head like lightning, analyzing all sorts of scenarios.
Hmm, his talent had something to do with strength. Given that a warrior at rank six star refining could generate a force of six hundred kilograms with a usual punch, using his talent that force could be doubled...
Not just that, while fighting the Cometfang Wolves, I didn’t notice Gordon using any decisive techniques. If I act swift and fast, there was a chance to instantly take care of Gordon.
While thinking, he took a couple of small steps forward in Gordon’s direction.
The smile on the middle-aged man widened. Gordon could sense Xavier’s cultivation wasn’t that high. That was also the reason why he decided not to give Lukas his portion.
Sure, his talent was useful, but after repeated use the star energy reserve was bound to be exhausted.
Although, he was also in the same situation, but there was one difference. As someone with a higher cultivation rank, he might not be able to use his talent, but even then he was stronger than Lukas.
And why should he give the loot away when that loot could strengthen him for the upcoming battle?
Gordon’s thoughts were crystal clear. The accident was just a convenient excuse; he didn’t want to give Lukas anything at all from the very start.
Just as Gordon was thinking, suddenly his eyes widened in disbelief. Out of nowhere, the fellow that he was treating as weakling had disappeared.
How!
Like a ghost, Lukas crossed the tens of feet of distance between the two of them.
Gordon was caught off guard. In the battle previously, Lukas didn’t use any such combat skill. Moreover, his star energy should also be exhausted.
Just as he was thinking, suddenly green toxic smoke appeared around his face. Gordon was unable to track the changes happening at such fast speed. Before he could realize, he had already inhaled the toxic gases.
"Cough! Cough! What are you trying to do...?"
Gordon tried to get away, realizing the situation had devolved beyond his control. Just as he took one step back, the gravity pressure descended stronger than ever. His feet struck the ground like a hammer.
Now that all of the gravity pressure was focused on Gordon alone, the pressure he was feeling was simply exaggerated. Even though he had great strength, it would take some time to get used to it.
A few seconds maybe... but those seconds were exactly what Lukas needed.
Next, a faint streak of silver flashed, and a head flew through the air.
Thud! Gordon’s head, with eyes wide open, rolled for a few meters before stopping directly in front of the two who had looked quite supportive of Gordon’s actions.
Lukas looked at the blood-soaked dagger in his hand and then back at Gordon’s headless corpse. He felt no discomfort, only a sense of familiarity.
He might have gone too far, but it was justifiable. After all, what Gordon had done was essentially the same.
Taking away his loot in a situation where one more treasure could decide life and death was the same as trying to kill him.
The duo shivered like twigs under a storm when Lukas’s gaze landed on them.
For a moment the air in the surrounding turned biting.
Lukas’s eyes flashed with a strange light. It wasn’t clear what he was thinking, but after giving them another look, he picked up the beast cores lying on the ground and left.
From start to finish, Sam simply stared into the air with an indifferent look in his eyes, not reacting even a bit, as if he was nothing more than a puppet.
It was only when Lukas had disappeared far into the distance that the man shrieked like a little girl.
"Somebody help! That man killed my squad leader...!"
...
Lukas didn’t turn back, only moving deeper into the slaughterhouse, searching for intact skulls.
He didn’t rush to the battle board. After all, for him the battlefield filled with mutilated corpses was no less than a treasure trove.
After half an hour of searching, he managed to find over a dozen intact skulls. He even grabbed Gordon’s skull and tossed it into the pile after the three had left.
With this, he now had thirteen skeletons.
Now it was time to harvest.
With that thought in mind, a slightly excited look appeared on his face.
