The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 122 Villagers’ Reaction_1
"Ah, there’s so much..."
Xu Keqing exclaimed softly and reached down, gently dabbing some on her hand.
"Look, your descendants..."
Li Qing watched the sparkling droplets between Xu Keqing’s fingers and couldn’t help but laugh.
"My descendants should have settled down by now."
Xu Keqing didn’t remind him, and he didn’t notice, so he just went right ahead.
"It’s okay, I have medicine."
Xu Keqing’s face displayed a hint of playful pride as she said, "However, next time you need to report to the doctor first, okay? If I say you can settle down, then you can. If I say no, then you’re not getting in."
"Today, since it’s your first time, I’ll let you off this once."
"Alright, Doctor," Li Qing cooperated very well with ’Doctor’ Xu.
Xu Keqing straightened her skirt, leaned down, and kissed Li Qing’s ’big guy,’ "This illness of yours is quite complex. It’ll probably require a lengthy treatment, so take it slow. Remember to eat more tonics when you have time."
"Yes, I’ll listen to the doctor," Li Qing responded with a smile.
The two of them continued their intimate moment in the ward for a while before finally parting ways.
By the time Li Qing and Gao Li returned to the village, the sun was already setting.
The tranquil Sanhe Village bathed in the sunset, looking like a picturesque paradise.
But before Li Qing could fully immerse himself in the beauty of the scene, he was disrupted by the noisy villagers.
A group of villagers, who were chatting in the square, crowded around Li Qing as soon as they saw him enter the village.
"Li Qing, do you have a conscience at all? Why do you buy leaves from outside but not from us?"
A burly woman, spitting as she spoke, pointed at Li Qing’s nose and cursed.
Li Qing couldn’t help but laugh at this.
"You shameless thing, it’s my own money. I’ll buy from wherever I want. What’s it to you?"
"The Hu Family tries to control everything, now you even want to dictate how I spend my money? You must be sick in the head!"
This woman was Hu Youqing’s wife, known in the village as one of the most notorious shrews.
"Li Qing, you’re able to live in this village only because we all pity you. If you have a good thing going and don’t help us out, then you’re nothing but an ungrateful cur!" the woman yelled, jumping up and down.
"Get the hell out of here. I grew up eating the Li family’s food and never took a single grain from you. Get lost!" Li Qing retorted angrily.
He had seen unreasonable people, but this was beyond unreasonable.
Indeed, if you’re not family, you don’t enter the same door.
"Hu Family, hold your tongue. But Qingzi, it’s said that distant relatives aren’t as good as close neighbors, and what you’re doing here isn’t right," someone chimed in to mediate, yet still implied that Li Qing was in the wrong.
"You’d rather let people from other villages make a profit than give us a chance to get a sip of the soup. That’s a bit too much."
"Exactly, to put it plainly, you’re an ungrateful wretch. Without the village’s help, your dead father wouldn’t have been buried."
"Now you’ve got some money in your hand, and you’re putting on airs. How much money do you have, huh? Can you even spare a thousand or so? Psh!"
Li Qing casually cleaned his ear and said, "Wenguan Leaves, I can buy them. But those who just insulted me, go away right now."
"Everyone else, if you want to sell to me, I’m open for business. But let me make one thing clear beforehand: I will make a profit on the sale."
"If you think you can sell them for a higher price, then go find your own buyers. Don’t come back later, feeling cheated, and take it out on me."
Li Qing had to lay this out upfront.
Otherwise, with the temper of the folks in Sanhe Village, if they found out he made a whole ten yuan in the middle, they surely would tear his house down.
They could accept an outsider making even half the profit on the purchase, but they definitely wouldn’t tolerate it from a fellow villager, especially one without clout like Li Qing.
"No problem at all, as long as you’re buying. That stuff has always been useless junk; making any profit at all is good enough."
Some people immediately changed their tune, speaking with such humble politeness.
Quite a few people around promptly chimed in with agreement.
"Yes, yes, yes, just as long as Qingzi you buy them, any amount will do, haha."
"I’m just picking leaves, tomorrow I’ll take them home."
Li Qing snorted coldly in his heart.
Their faces changed so quickly, it was indeed faster than flipping a book.
"I only want the tender leaves from the very top, stripped off one by one, no young branches, and no old leaves. Whoever wants to sell can bring them over," Li Qing called out loudly and then urged Gao Li to hurry back home.
If he could at all avoid it, he really didn’t want to do business with the villagers.
Troublesome, lots of issues, and potential problems afterward.
Anyway, he was definitely not going to disadvantage himself to curry favor with them.
Gao Li drove Li Qing away, squeezing out through the crowd.
Li Qing also stopped paying any attention to the noisy villagers.
After all, he had already made himself quite clear.
After parting with Gao Li, Li Qing didn’t go home but went straight to Han Mei’s house.
Under the big tree outside the yard, a clean and simple sheet was laid on the ground, and Han Mei and Tian Yue’e were sorting through the Wenguan Leaves.
"Sister-in-law, Yue’er, are there any issues with the leaves we’ve collected?" Li Qing walked over and asked.
"Qingzi, you’re back," Han Mei greeted sweetly with a smile and said, "No major problems, we both picked through them carefully, but there will inevitably be some debris and some that don’t look so good, just sorting through them."
"Since it’s our first time doing business, it’s better to prepare the goods neatly, and it might make a good impression on the customers."
Li Qing crouched down and saw that the quality looked quite good, no apparent issues.
"Sister-in-law, they look really clean to me!"
Han Mei casually pulled a strand of wool from the Wenguan Leaves and held it up, "This is the most common."
"Although it’s just a strand of wool, customers would certainly be unhappy to see it."
"Sister-in-law, you’re picking too thoroughly," Li Qing suddenly felt overwhelmed.
According to Han Mei’s method of picking, there were surely many in the batch he bought today.
Almost every family in the mountains kept sheep, so wool was inevitably present.
"If we have time, it’s better to clean them up as best as we can, after all, they’re such precious items," Han Mei remarked, "How did the buying go today?"
Li Qing’s gaze shifted away from Han Mei’s neckline and raised three fingers on his right hand, "Made a tidy profit of over three thousand."
"Really?" Han Mei was so excited that she nearly jumped up.
Inside her short-sleeved neckline, those two proud and fair peaks started to shake violently as well.
As she lay on the ground picking through the leaves, Li Qing couldn’t help but look.
From his angle, the view was completely unobstructed.
When Han Mei noticed Li Qing’s gaze, she glanced at him sideways, "Pervert, always trying to take advantage."
"I’m just looking, I can’t even taste it..." Li Qing said wistfully.
With a playful laugh, Han Mei blushed and whispered softly, "...I’ll give you some another day."
"Aren’t you two openly flirting with each other now?" Tian Yue’e’s head popped up from a pile of leaves, and she glanced into Han Mei’s bottomless cleavage, "Oh, so that’s what you’re ’eating’?
"I thought Qingzi was going to ’eat’ you."
Tian Yue’e winked at Li Qing, teasingly calling out, "I suggest not waiting for another day, how about right now?"
"Loose woman, go away, let Qingzi ’eat’ you instead!" Han Mei flushed with embarrassment.
"Okay, Qingzi, come on, here you go!" Out loud, Tian Yue’e extended her hand into her neckline, pretending to dig out something.
