"My name is Su Moon, the greatest Rune Deity in Alvian. If you’re reading this then that means I was murdered in my own Palace. However, as a cautious person, I created a Grand Formation Array around my Palace so if I were to ever be killed then no one could escape through the teleportation doorway. But if you are a visitor that means you are also trapped with no way out. The only way to leave is to catch the culprit, kill him, and then use his blood to open the Grand Formation Array. However, you only have two chances to open the Grand Formation Array or else it will close permanently. As a reward for avenging me, you will obtain my full Legacy Inheritance..."

Sol felt the space around him distort and before he knew it, he appeared in a dark void. He looked around confused before he stood up and called out.
"Brother Yoon-Jae?"
Sol heard his voice echo in the darkness but as he waited, no response came.
This made him slightly nervous. The darkness was unsettling as it was eerily quiet.
"Little Zeel?"
Sol called for Little Zeel this time while also trying to move forward. As he did, he placed his hands in front of him to feel if anything was around him.
After walking for some time, calling for Yoon-Jae and Little Zeel only to receive no response, Sol wondered if something had happened to them.
Thud.
Suddenly, Sol bumped into something. His hands grasped a fabric material and as he moved them up and down, he realized it was a person facing away from him.
Sol was startled at first, but he then called out happily.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, is that you?"
"..."
However, there was no response from this person, and this caused chills to go down his spine.
Was it a ghost or something?
Just as Sol was about to freak out, Yoon-Jae’s voice suddenly sounded behind him.
"Sol, are you there?"
Sol quickly spun around and saw a small flicker of light in the distance. The light was a small fire on Yoon-Jae’s palm, and it dimly lit the area allowing Yoon-Jae’s face to be seen.
"Brother Yoon-Jae? But if you’re here, then... then who is this?"
Sol turned around and swept his hand out, but feeling no one in the darkness ahead, his face went paled and he immediately retreated.
"Who are you talking about?"
Yoon-Jae came up next to Sol and shone the small fire forward, but nothing was there.
Seeing that there really was no one there, Sol felt his scalp go numb from fright.
"S-Someone was just here Brother Yoon-Jae. I-It must have been a ghost."
Yoon-Jae gave Sol a skeptical look while Little Zeel suddenly leaped out of his hand and onto Sol’s head.
"Let’s go, I found a door in this direction."
Sol could tell Yoon-Jae didn’t believe him, but he could have sworn he felt someone standing there. After thinking for a moment, he thought of using his Heavenly Eyes.
"Sol, what are you doing? Hurry up!"
Sol paused, and decided to just let this matter go before he hurried to follow Yoon-Jae. If he really did use his Heavenly Eyes and saw a ghost, he might just die of fright.
After the two youths and one pet beast walked for a few minutes, they came upon a door which was quite strange.
A single wooden door was just sitting here in this dark void?
Something about this setup made the two feel extremely creeped out.
"Are we going to enter?"
Sol asked.
"Do we have a choice? We can wander around in this dark void to find another way out if you want to."
Sol thought about that ghost he touched before, and his heart immediately let out a fearful thud.
"N-Never mind, let’s enter."
Sol didn’t hesitate to grab the door handle and swung it open. Immediately, a bright golden light blinded the two of them.
After this golden light faded away, Sol and Yoon-Jae regained their sights to realize they were no longer in the dark void, but inside a room.
This room was about forty square meters. There were two windows to the side and a single door that probably led out of the room.
Several bookshelves were in the corners completely over-stacked with books. With this scene, rather than a normal room, this looked more like an office.
Luxurious pieces of furniture that would make one feel this was the office of someone wealthy also littered the place. However, furniture wasn’t the only thing that littered this office, dead bodies were also in the room.
Three to be exact.
Sol had instinctively recreated the room to how it was supposed to be when he first entered, but in truth, it wasn’t like what was described.
The bookshelves were on the ground broken. The books they contain were scattered around the room.
The walls were cracked and damaged as if an intense fight had occurred in this confined space.
The excellently crafted pieces of furniture were on the ground close to the wall, broken; like they had been blown over and smashed against it. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Yoon-Jae and Sol stood where they were and took all of this in.
Sol was on the left and he turned his head slightly to see the main desk in this office that was directly next to him.
A man dressed in fancy golden robes was lying flat on top of this desk. A fountain of blood was seen gushing from the man’s neck and pooling under his bare feet. However, this man’s blood was strangely golden in color.
He was a cultivator and judging from the suppressive aura he was releasing despite already being dead, Sol concluded this man’s cultivation was beyond something he could imagine.
"Where are we? How did we appear in this place?"
Yoon-Jae asked as he looked at their clothes. It had somehow changed to coarse gray rags that barely covered their bodies instead of their yellow robes.
Yoon-Jae immediately stepped forward to look around the office.
Sol didn’t follow him immediately but turned to look behind him. The door they came through had disappeared. It was now just a plain wall with a cracked mural of a dragon on it.
Sol frowned before he carried Little Zeel on his head and followed behind Yoon-Jae, who had stopped to look at the remaining two bodies that were in the middle of the office.
They were releasing suppressive auras as well that prevented them from approaching too closely.
"Do you realize something?"
Yoon-Jae asked with a solemn expression.
Sol nodded as he came up to look at the bodies as well.
"They were killed just a few minutes ago."
Just the fact that their cultivation aura was dwindling by the second was evidence of this.
Sol turned and walked towards the door.
He wanted to leave to see what this place was like outside, but as soon as his hands touched the door handle, blue runes spread from the handle to cover the entire room. The bookshelves, the walls, and the two windows.
After this, a bright white light then engulfed the room and words appeared, floating in the middle of the office.
A rune array also appeared on the ground below these words.
Yoon-Jae and Sol went on high alert, but as they read the words that appeared, their hearts dropped to the pit of their stomachs.(AN: See paragraph at the beginning of the Chapter.)
"What is this? He wants us to solve his murder to escape?"
Sol let go of the door handle and step back into the room to look at the words more closely.
After some time, he looked at the man who was dead at the desk.
"Do you think this person is Su Moon?"
"Huh? Who cares!? We need to leave this place!"
Yoon-Jae yelled and then bolted for the door. He swung it open and then sprinted outside.
"But it says we can’t leave until we find who killed him."
Sol said but Yoon-Jae had already left the office.
After reading the words again, Sol’s eyes flickered, and he zoned in on the last sentence.
"Legacy Inheritance? Then is this some sort of test to obtain it, or is this all real and we were just teleported here?"
Sol couldn’t figure out the answer to that question.
The scent of blood coming from the corpses, the suppressive auras they were releasing, and even the sunlight shining through the windows...
It all seemed too real.
But if this was indeed some test for a Legacy Inheritance, which Sol was more inclined to believe, then he would have to assume this place was created using Formation Arrays.
"What kind of ability would someone need to possess to create such a realistic setting using Formation Arrays? Is Master even capable of something like this?"
Sol turned his attention to the two dead bodies in the center of the office.
One was a young man in his mid to late twenties. He was quite handsome and judging from his clothes that was similar to the man at the desk, they must be related.
Sol glance at the man at the desk.
He was middle-aged and he had a striking resemblance to the young man.
Sol rubbed his chin.
"Father and son?"
This was Sol’s theory for now. He then moved his attention to the second person next to the young man.
"Hm?"
Sol immediately noticed something... this person was holding a dagger covered in golden blood.
"Eh? Mystery solved?"
