The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 91: Yvette Aston Finally Strikes Back
Yvette deliberately said this just to let Arthur Grant and Melody Crowe know that she wouldn’t let Jayden Grant off easily.
She certainly wouldn’t really hope Ethan Grant would marry her.
Ethan Grant can also use this opportunity to manipulate Melody Crowe and Arthur Grant.
After all, as long as he gets married, according to Grandpa Grant’s will, he will receive 41% of the Grant Group shares, which include his mother’s and Grandpa Grant’s shares.
Melody Crowe is fighting for the 23% that belongs to Grandpa Grant within that 41%, as well as the 21% shares Arthur Grant currently holds.
In Melody Crowe’s view, as long as Jayden Grant’s share exceeds Ethan Grant’s, there’s a chance to kick Ethan out, allowing them to control the Grant Group.
As soon as Yvette finished speaking, Arthur Grant laughed; aside from his shock, he was mocking. "A con artist pretending to be a high society lady, deceiving the Grant Family for so many years, and still wants to marry into the Grant Family?"
Ethan Grant’s body visibly stiffened for a moment, turning back to look at Yvette.
He understood that Yvette didn’t mean it seriously; she was trying to restrain Melody Crowe.
"The marriage between me and the Grant Family was decided when Grandpa was alive because I saved his life, not because I deceived anyone." Yvette retorted, head lowered.
She never intended to marry into the Grant Family.
The initial engagement with Jayden was because Grandpa Grant liked her.
"Quite shameless, I advise you to give up this idea." Melody Crowe sneered coldly. "Say what you want directly, don’t end up shooting yourself in the foot."
"Either Ethan Grant marries me... or Jayden Grant goes to jail." Yvette clenched her hands tightly, her palms already bleeding from her nails.
Let’s see if Arthur Grant would sacrifice his elder son’s happiness for his younger son.
"Ethan, what do you think?" Arthur Grant looked at Ethan Grant.
Ethan Grant sneered. "Father intends to force me to marry Yvette for the sake of Jayden?"
Arthur Grant waved his hand dismissively. "For your brother’s sake, you should persuade her well; this matter absolutely cannot escalate as it concerns the Grant family’s reputation."
Ethan Grant said nothing.
"Arthur..." Melody Crowe originally wanted to mock Yvette, but thinking it over, if Yvette, a woman with a terrible reputation, must marry Ethan Grant...
That doesn’t necessarily seem like a bad thing.
This way, Ethan Grant’s reputation would be tainted.
Although the shares left by Ethan’s mother couldn’t be touched by anyone, she had to fight for the shares of Grandpa Grant and Arthur Grant for her son Jayden Grant.
"Ethan is also at the age to marry; it’s nothing more than a trick, and we can’t let Jayden’s reputation be ruined as he can’t go to jail." Melody Crowe clung to Arthur Grant’s arm, pulling him out of the hospital room.
"Arthur, Jayden had suffered too much as a child, you can’t be partial; Ethan really wouldn’t lose anything." Melody Crowe looked at Arthur Grant with a choked voice.
Arthur Grant cast a cold glance at Melody Crowe, fully aware of her intentions. "Ethan’s reputation is equally important to the Grant family, do you understand?"
Melody Crowe paused, reluctantly lowered her head. "Arthur, then... what about Jayden? Just allow him to be taken away by the police for investigation? The media is already getting wind of the news."
Arthur Grant frowned. "Then find The Aston Family’s people, and properly manage Yvette!"
...
The hospital room.
Yvette kept her head down, silent and dared not speak.
Ethan Grant glanced at Yvette with meaningful eyes for a long time before speaking with a smile. "Seems like, even if I don’t step in, you have the ability to protect yourself."
Yvette said nothing.
Having the ability to protect herself, and being unable to stir up trouble, were two different things for Yvette.
"Jayden Grant is at the police station, Melody Crowe certainly won’t let you off easily; do you really intend for me to marry you?" Ethan Grant looked at Yvette.
Yvette shook her head in panic. "No... no, I just, I just..."
"Just temporarily using me." Ethan Grant answered for Yvette.
Yvette lowered her head, her eyes reddening. "Sorry... I need to protect myself."
She needed to protect herself and didn’t want to see Ethan Grant being slandered by Melody Crowe.
"Was it you who saved Grandpa at Blackmere Gardens that year?" Ethan Grant asked significantly.
Yvette nodded. "Yes... but I had no other intentions."
She was afraid Ethan Grant might misunderstand her.
Ethan Grant was a bit surprised, as Grandpa left two wills before passing: one public and one secret. Melody Crowe and Arthur Grant didn’t manage to extract the content of the second will despite all efforts.
The attorney at the probate office said only by finding the person who saved Grandpa that year could the will be revealed.
Melody Crowe and Arthur Grant apparently knew it was Yvette who saved Grandpa but deliberately declared publicly it was Charlotte Summers.
Ha... no wonder Charlotte Summers kept finding excuses not to go to the probate office because she knew very well that she wasn’t the person who saved Master Grant.
"What are you planning to do next?" Ethan Grant sat on the sofa beside, asking with significant intent.
He didn’t expect that Yvette’s hidden value would be comparable to a treasure.
"Mr. Grant... can you guarantee Summers and my brother Caden Summers’ safety?" Yvette looked at Ethan Grant nervously.
She wanted a clear guarantee from Ethan Grant.
Having narrowly escaped death this time, Yvette clearly had awakened.
Some people can’t be avoided.
She had to strike first, preventing the opposing party from having any chance to rise again and continue hurting her.
She needed to seize the right moment, unleashing a fatal blow.
"I can guarantee Summers and Caden’s safety, but you should know that protection is only temporary; as long as you remain a thorn in their side, I cannot ensure they’ll always be protected."
Ethan Grant was stating the facts.
He aimed to eliminate all of Yvette’s worries, to see how far she could go.
People say that when a rabbit is cornered, it bites; Jayden Grant, Melody Crowe, and The Aston Family pushed Yvette too far.
He could help Yvette deal with them, considering Yvette’s temper and severe depression.
To untie the bell, the person who ties it must untie it; mental issues have to be resolved by the individual.
Yvette lowered her head in silence, only speaking hoarsely after a long time. "Mr. Grant help me to release the video of Jayden Grant assaulting someone on the internet."
Yvette knew Ethan Grant had the power to stir the entire city, making everyone aware and pushing Jayden Grant and Melody Crowe to the forefront of public opinion.
Seeing Ethan Grant remain silent, Yvette felt somewhat uneasy as she gazed at him, betting that Ethan Grant would start taking action against Jayden Grant and Melody Crowe.
But she couldn’t guarantee Ethan Grant would dare do so, as it concerned the Grant Family’s reputation; if Jayden got involved, the Grant Group would be affected to some extent.
Ethan Grant laughed, his gaze towards Yvette becoming more intense.
...
Ethan Grant didn’t straightforwardly agree to Yvette’s request, but the next morning Yvette was awakened by the hospital’s noisy gossip.
The nurses and patients in the corridor were discussing Jayden Grant’s involvement in gang-related activities.
Yvette knew it was Ethan Grant’s doing.
Once public opinion starts fermenting, no one dares engage in backdoor operations or risk protecting Jayden Grant.
Melody Crowe will continue to ’plead’ her.
Taking out her phone, Yvette hesitated for a long time before finally dialing a stranger’s number.
"It’s Yvette."
"I guessed." The other person’s voice was raspy, with a hint of laziness.
"Have you seen the public opinion on Jayden Grant?" Yvette asked softly.
"Figured it out?" That person asked plainly.
"Take advantage of this momentum to expose Melody Crowe’s ascent as a mistress, pushing her to take down the original family with the child..." Yvette took a deep breath; she couldn’t bear all the damage from online harassment alone.
She had to make Melody Crowe too occupied to bother her.
"But something like that won’t destroy Jayden Grant." The man on the phone said hoarsely. "I guess within a month there’ll be a bodyguard taking the blame; he’ll just be detained as a warning and fined."
Yvette’s fingers trembled slightly. "A month is enough."
"Yvette, aside from me, no one will truly help you; everyone has their motives. Henry Jennings and Ethan Grant deserve to die." The man on the phone seemed to resent Henry Jennings and Ethan Grant deeply.
"Don’t involve Ethan Grant, not one bit... if your public opinion harms him, the cooperation ends here." Yvette was anxious.
On the phone, the man’s voice suddenly turned cold. "Do you fancy Ethan Grant?"
