The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 215: Arthur Grant Forces Ethan Grant Into an Arranged Marriage
Grant Group.
"May Larson refusing to cooperate with a paternity test is definitely a problem." Zane Quinn sat on the sofa, nibbling on chestnuts. "I’ve investigated. When Charlotte Summers was at The Summers Family, May treated her very well, even doting on her. Even if May knew Charlotte was a wealthy heiress and deliberately catered to her, she wouldn’t have turned on her so quickly after finding her own daughter."
"It does seem suspicious." Ethan nodded.
"However, it’s not too difficult for me." Zane raised an eyebrow. "Caden Summers will cooperate. Give me his hair and Yvette’s, and I can conduct a DNA test to find out."
Ethan leaned back in his chair. "At critical times, you do have your uses."
"Oh, look at the way you say that." Zane stood up and adjusted his clothes. "How about you reward me with something? That car you bought last year..."
"Finish the task first, then we’ll talk." Ethan despised Zane’s behavior of asking for rewards in advance.
Zane gave Ethan a disdainful look. "You’re too stingy. That car’s just sitting in the garage. Do you want it to rust away?"
"Sorry, I’m married now. All the assets under my name have been registered as joint property with my wife, and that includes the car." Ethan said proudly, taking a sip of coffee. "So, if you want the car, it’s no longer my decision to make."
Zane twitched at the corner of his mouth.
Unbelievable, ever since he tricked Yvette Aston into signing a prenuptial agreement and getting the marriage certificate, Ethan’s tail seemed to be wagging up to the sky.
"A lapdog, in the end, gets nothing." Zane said, filled with jealousy and frustration.
"I have a wife." Ethan reminded Zane.
Zane gritted his teeth. "If you have the guts, make it official."
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "You’re jumping to conclusions."
Zane was shocked. He jumped in front of Ethan, reaching out to feel his forehead, then circled around him. "Have you been possessed? Are you still the Ethan I know? You actually want to make it official? At this critical moment, are you crazy?"
Arthur Grant forced Ethan Grant to come to the company today because the Bell Family people would be at Grant Group, and there were a bunch of reporters waiting for the official announcement from Grant Group downstairs.
Announcing the marriage between the Bell Family and the Grant Family.
"Scram." Ethan looked at Zane disdainfully.
Ever since he got a wife, he no longer wanted to talk to people without one.
"Mr. Grant, the Chairman wants you over." From outside, Christopher Carter sounded a bit nervous.
"What’s up?" Ethan’s voice was deep.
"They said, in the afternoon... there’s going to be a press conference to announce the marriage between the Bell Family and the Grant Family, and you’re supposed to have lunch with both families at noon." Christopher took a deep breath, his voice trembling.
Ethan’s face instantly turned ice-cold.
Lightly tapping his fingers on the table, Ethan’s voice was low. "Tell Arthur Grant that I will not agree to a marriage alliance with the Bell Family."
"Mr. Grant... the board members are all here, I think Mr. Arthur is forcing you." Christopher was anxious.
If Ethan could adapt temporarily, maybe concede a bit, it would be better.
This isn’t just having the bow drawn and notched.
Arthur had called in the board members and lawyers, clearly intending to adjust the share distribution.
If Ethan doesn’t comply and acknowledge the alliance with the Bell Family, Arthur will immediately convene the board to remove Ethan from his position as CEO of Grant Group.
...
IF Mall.
Ethan said he’d give her some time off, let her rest well for a period.
Yvette knew that something must be up at Grant Group.
Arthur was about to make a move against Ethan.
"Yvette, are you preoccupied?" Holly Ziegler, in a businesslike blazer, looked very sharp and pretty.
Yvette snapped back, taking the water cup from Holly’s hand. "No... nothing."
It was just that she was a bit scared and worried, scared that Ethan was fighting alone at the company.
"Holly, what are you doing! Not doing your job, attending to customers, chatting with people who can’t afford luxury goods?" The supervisor was a bit angry, targeting Holly.
Holly rolled her eyes.
From her first day working here, the supervisor had been targeting her.
Because she was a ’parachute’.
These luxury brand store clerk jobs had strict requirements; Holly’s external image met the standards, but her educational background was somewhat lacking.
Plus, she had previous infractions.
"We don’t entertain idle people here." The supervisor rudely stood in front of Yvette.
Yvette felt a bit awkward. "Sorry... I’ll just leave."
"You don’t have to go!" Holly looked at the supervisor angrily. "Don’t go too far! When your friends come, you give them all sorts of discounts and freebies, what’s wrong with my friends being here?"
The supervisor sneered. "My friends are wealthy heiresses, their partners are company bosses earning over ten million a year, can your friends compare?"
Holly was too furious for words, opening her mouth but saying nothing.
Ethan and Yvette’s relationship was a secret, and she didn’t want to cause trouble for them.
Yvette wanted to speak up for Holly, and just then Ethan called.
"I’ll take this call." Yvette said nervously, hurriedly answering the phone.
"Mr. Grant!" Yvette’s heart was pounding, afraid something had happened.
Earlier this morning, when passing in front of Grant Group, Yvette saw many reporters.
It was said today was the day for the Bell and Grant families’ union, with Arthur holding a press conference at 3 PM.
"Did you have a good breakfast?" Ethan asked gently.
Yvette stammered for a while, then got straight to the point. "Mr. Grant, I heard from Jayden that Arthur called a board meeting, bringing in the legal team, threatening you with the share distribution..."
Ethan was silent before he spoke in a deep voice after a long pause. "Jayden’s a big mouth, don’t listen to him."
"Ethan..." Yvette hid in a quiet corner, feeling anxious and weak, she could only crouch to muster some strength. "Maybe... you should temporarily agree to the marriage alliance with the Bell Family, even if it’s just a stopgap measure."
Yvette spoke softly, eyes involuntarily reddening.
She really didn’t want to see Ethan announce a marriage with Wendy Bell.
She didn’t want to watch as Ethan had a legitimate fiancée in public.
While she was just a shadow, a joke in the dark.
"Are you trying to make me angry?" Ethan was clearly displeased.
Yvette hung her head, tears clinging to her long lashes. "No... I’m just scared..."
"Scared of what? Didn’t I tell you to trust your man?" Ethan’s voice softened even more.
Yvette’s heart eased a bit, but she still blamed herself for not being able to help Ethan.
"Where are you?" Ethan asked again.
"At IF, I’m with Holly..." Yvette quickly said, trying to assure Ethan.
"At Holly’s place? Are there any bags or jewelry you like? You can use the card I gave you to buy anything you want." Ethan suddenly remembered that since he gave Yvette a card, she hadn’t used it once.
"No, no need, I don’t like those." Yvette’s ears turned red.
She didn’t want those luxury items.
When she was with Stellan, he also liked to buy her very expensive bags, but she always felt it unnecessary, even a $30 bag could be used for a long time.
"Wait for me there, I’ll come to find you, we’ll have lunch together."
Ethan didn’t wait for Yvette to refuse and directly hung up the phone.
