The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 204: Caden’s Mom Forces Yvette Aston to Go on Blind Dates and Get Married
The Summers Family.
Caden Summers’ mom was released from prison, and a feast was organized by several relatives to welcome her back, saying it was to give her a fresh start.
"Wow, who would have thought, the daughter of our Summers Family is so beautiful." A relative looked Yvette up and down. "Wow, haven’t found someone yet?"
Yvette suffered from social anxiety and was afraid of strangers, especially when faced with such blunt scrutiny.
She dodged a little and remained silent.
"Third Aunt, what are you doing?" Caden frowned, protecting Yvette.
"Oh, I’m just looking for a good match for Yvette." The middle-aged woman called Third Aunt spoke with a smile. "She’s pretty, but she’s had a child, and being unmarried with a child is frowned upon in our village. But your mom asked me, and I’ll definitely find her someone nice."
Caden frowned and instinctively looked at May Larson, who was seated at the main position. "Mom, you asked Third Aunt to find a match for Yvette?"
May Larson, freshly released from prison, didn’t look too bad, suggesting her time in prison wasn’t too hard.
She cracked a sunflower seed, looking at Caden. "She’s not young anymore, and she’s got a kid. How can she not hurry to get married? It’s ruining your reputation, and how will you find a wife?"
Caden’s face turned unpleasant as he spoke in a low voice. "Yvette doesn’t need to marry. I’ll provide for her and Summers her whole life."
"What nonsense." May Larson was slightly angry. "Your Third Aunt knows people who are either rich or noble. Don’t go making decisions for your sister here; she’s willing."
Yvette kept her head down and said nothing.
Willing for what?
"Yvette, I know someone who opened a pig farm in our village, don’t look down on pig farmers, they’re quite wealthy." Third Aunt also cracked her sunflower seeds. "He, like you, has a child, it’s a second marriage, but the child is slightly disabled, though that’s not a big issue."
Yvette’s face turned pale and she remained silent.
"I’ll introduce you to each other tomorrow and see what happens." Third Aunt had made the decision for Yvette.
"No... I have work tomorrow." Yvette refused.
"Work? What kind of work? If he likes you, you won’t need to work, what’s the point of earning that measly salary." Third Aunt was disdainful. "I’m telling you, marrying well is more important than anything."
"I can earn money myself, I don’t need... to marry well, I can support myself, your idea is wrong." Yvette retorted, her voice choked.
"What are you saying? You can support yourself, but having an unmarried woman in the house with a child is frowned upon in our hometown. Can your brother still get married?" May Larson said with displeasure.
Yvette said nothing, and May Larson spoke again. "Don’t go to work tomorrow, just go on the date, get married quickly, move out promptly."
Yvette took a deep breath, looking at May Larson. "You haven’t supported me for a day, you’re not qualified to control me."
The air suddenly thickened and the relatives all stared at Yvette, then began to gossip. "Look at this, grown up and returned only to bite back."
"Isn’t it like that? Argues with her mom already."
"Yvette, you’re wrong to say that. Wasn’t it all for you back then? She spent five years in prison for whom, huh? For you! You had a heart condition back then, if your mom hadn’t faced the pressure to save you, do you think you could have lived until now?"
Third Aunt started with the moral pressure.
"Yvette, your life was exchanged by your mom for five years in prison, saying such things to her, how hurtful."
Yvette’s eyes reddened as she turned her gaze away. She should have just let herself die back then, why save her in such a way, harming so many people.
"Mom, you’ve just been released, better take some rest, Yvette has work tomorrow, I’ll take her back now." Caden’s voice was low, protecting Yvette as they prepared to leave.
"Caden!" May Larson slapped the table and stood up. "Do you know what people outside say about you and Yvette? A scandalous affair between siblings; you’re raising her child, are you stupid?"
Yvette clenched her hands, the pain in her throat unbearable.
Everyone could slander her, but hearing this from her biological mother hurt deeply.
"That’s too much!" Caden was angry too.
"Well, well, you’re all so independent now. I spent five years in prison, and the world has changed!" May Larson started a tantrum. "Caden, are you choosing your sister over your mother now?"
Caden was very annoyed.
"Yvette, I’m telling you, I am your mother. I gave birth to you, didn’t raise you to save your life. You may not be grateful, but you must repay what you owe me!" May Larson looked at Yvette. "Resign from work tomorrow, and stop associating with the Grant Family, don’t you see your own identity?"
May Larson slapped the table forcefully. "What kind of status does our family have? You associate with the Grant Family! Do you think this family is not chaotic enough?"
Yvette’s eyes were red from holding back, remaining silent.
"What status does the Grant Family have, can you even attach yourself? Six years ago, you got pregnant with a wild child from a wild man, do you think with your conditions, any of the Grant Family’s young masters would be interested in you? Stop dreaming, tomorrow meet this factory director mentioned by your Third Aunt, quickly get married and settle down."
After finishing, May Larson looked at Third Aunt. "Our daughter may have a child, but it’s her first marriage, the bridal dowry should not be less."
Third Aunt nodded with a smile. "Oh, don’t worry, they’ve said as long as he is interested, the dowry will be a house of over a hundred square meters, directly transferred to your name, as for the three golds, is that even a question?"
May Larson’s eyes brightened up. "A house within the Meridia Fifth Loop?"
"Not too far in from here, obviously not, but the conditions are quite okay, with Yvette’s condition, it would be impossible to find another like this even with a lantern." Third Aunt said confidently.
"Let’s go, don’t listen to their nonsense here." Caden took Yvette and started to leave.
"Where are you going?" May Larson asked.
Yvette didn’t speak, and neither did Caden.
"Did you hear what your Third Aunt said? Where else will you find terms like these?" May Larson was quite pleased.
"Enough." Caden frowned.
"What’s wrong with you? A house, for your marriage." May Larson reproached Caden. "She’s been the Aston Family’s eldest daughter for over twenty years, enjoying the best life, who gave it to her? I did! Doesn’t she owe me? Shouldn’t she repay it? Finding such a great match for her, yet it’s not good enough?"
"Is it good? A pig farm, plus that disabled son, the one called Bob Holmes, right?" Caden’s face was dark. "Such good condition, you go marry then, exchange for a house, we don’t want it, you keep it for retirement."
After saying that, Caden took Yvette’s wrist and walked out.
"Caden! Are you revolting!" May Larson cried out in tears. "Who am I doing all of this for, who am I for! I made her the eldest daughter for twenty-one years, without me, she’d have died of congenital heart disease!"
Yvette’s eyes were red from crying, silently wiping her tears.
She really didn’t know how to face these people.
The Aston Family said she owed them.
May Larson said she owed them too...
She owed so many people, who owed her? 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Yvette."
Just as they reached downstairs, a black car stopped outside.
Ethan Grant got out anxiously, calling Yvette’s name.
Yvette stood still, at that moment, it really felt like seeing light.
That suffocating feeling, turned just into grievances upon seeing Ethan Grant.
