The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic-Chapter 393
The Demon King of Wrath was the first to disappear. His fiery eyes glowed for a moment before dimming into nothingness. The Demon King of Gluttony followed, his heavy breathing echoing faintly before silence took over.
The Demon Queen of Lust rose slowly from her seat. Her faint red glow shimmered for a moment, casting a strange light over the stone floor. She looked around at the fading figures and whispered softly, almost to herself, "The world will soon burn again." Then she vanished into the mist.
Envy and Greed exchanged brief looks before their bodies dissolved, leaving behind only faint traces of green and gold smoke. The Demon King of Sloth yawned loudly, rubbing his eyes one last time.
"Wake me up when the killing starts," he muttered before melting back into the crimson haze.
When the last figure vanished, the grand hall grew quiet. The pillars stood still in the heavy gloom, their shadows stretching long across the floor. The air became cold again, and the faint echo of the demons’ voices faded into nothing.
A low hum passed through the ground, and then even that stopped. The thrones stood empty, covered by mist.
For a while, nothing moved. Only a faint heartbeat-like pulse of crimson light flickered at the center of the room. Then it, too, went dark. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
The place returned to silence, like a tomb buried deep beneath the world. But the air still carried something heavy like an unseen presence that lingered in the dark, waiting for the moment when the seven kings would rise again.
The screen lit up, showing the introduction of the Demon Kings. The whole colosseum fell silent at once. The crowd could almost feel their presence pressing out from the screen.
Even though the figures were blurred and unclear, the weight carried by their voices made everyone’s hearts tighten.
A heavy, cold feeling spread through the air.
It was hard to describe what they felt. Fear, awe, and disbelief—all mixed together into one strange silence.
"Are they going to fight the Demon Kings?" Emilia asked quietly, her brows furrowed.
"As far as I know, the Demon Kings were at the SSS or maybe even Demi-God realm at that time," she said again, shaking her head. "How could those kids possibly take them down?"
Ramos crossed his arms and snorted. "Nah, it’s not going to go that far. Even with time dilation, it would take hundreds of years for anyone to beat them. No one has that much time to sit and watch."
Luke looked at his sister and spoke in a calm tone. "Don’t forget, sister, the war didn’t end because the demons were defeated. It ended because he appeared. His arrival forced both humans and demons to fight together against the Outer Forces."
The room fell quiet again. Lyria, who had been sitting at the corner, frowned slightly.
Something about the scene didn’t feel right to her. She couldn’t explain it, but a strange feeling rose deep inside her chest—an uneasiness that wouldn’t go away.
Her eyes stayed fixed on the screen.
The blurry figures of the demons looked oddly familiar, though she couldn’t remember where she had seen them before. The harder she tried to recall, the more her mind felt clouded. It was like a thick fog had wrapped around her thoughts, refusing to let her see clearly.
She closed her eyes, trying to calm down. Her heart beat faster, and her breathing grew shallow. She felt as if she was only a few steps away from remembering something important, yet the distance between those steps felt endless. A deep frustration settled inside her chest.
Then suddenly, a shrill cry broke through the silence.
"Papapapapa!" Elfie shouted in excitement. The little fairy’s wings fluttered quickly, now grown large enough to reach the size of her tiny palms. Her eyes sparkled as she pointed at the screen.
"Papa? Where is he?" Ramos asked, confused as he looked around for Kael on the display.
"There! There!" Elfie said eagerly, her small finger pointing at a spot that everyone had missed.
The others leaned closer.
On the screen at bottom, the view shifted to a battlefield covered with snow and smoke. A huge army of human troops was moving forward to intercept the incoming wave of demons. F
rom the sky’s view, it was hard to tell who was who, but Elfie’s sharp eyes had already found Kael among them.
"Truly amazing," Ramos murmured, his voice full of awe. "Dragons are really something else."
The others nodded, their eyes still fixed on the screen. Slowly, the image zoomed in, revealing the formation of the human forces.
The army was divided into two main wings. The right wing was led by Gare, while the left wing was commanded by Riley. At the center of the formation stood Kael and Martina, both watching the battlefield carefully.
The demons could be seen charging from the distance, their roars echoing across the cold wind. The sky above was dim and filled with a crimson hue, the air trembling with the tension of the upcoming clash.
Kael’s eyes narrowed as he scanned the enemy line. Martina stood beside him, her sword already drawn with the edge glinting faintly under the dying light.
Snow began to fall softly over the battlefield. The silence before the storm pressed down heavily, and for a moment, no one spoke.
The humans stood firm in their positions. The demons rushed closer, their dark forms spreading like shadows over the white ground.
The air grew colder, the weight of the moment sinking into everyone’s chest.
Outside the virtual world, the viewers in the hall watched without saying a word. The tension from the screen seemed to flow out and affect the world itself.
Lyria gripped her armrest tightly. The strange feeling in her heart grew stronger, and she whispered to herself, "Why... does this feel so familiar?"
"It’s as if I experienced it myself.."
She felt a bit shiver and a bit of pain. Her eyes narrowed down as she felt a deep sorrow and pain.
"Is it because I am a demon too?"she asked but no one answered her.
All eyes were on the screen, where Kael and Martina faced the approaching horde in the heart of the battlefield.
And then, as the first wave of demons clashed against the human line, the entire scene was swallowed by screams and blasts.
