Chapter 60: Thoughts on Going Premium

An update for all my dear patrons:

The good news: This morning, I received a notice from my editor. Our book is going premium ahead of schedule, tonight after midnight (which is the 1st).

And as is tradition, a premium launch calls for a mass release.

The bad news: I have no backlog! I have no stockpiled Chapters!! I really, truly have no Chapters saved up!!!

Since its debut, the book has been doing pretty well. I originally thought I would finish the entire new book period and then go premium during the Sanjiang recommendation period, which would have been around mid-October.

I never, ever expected my editor to suddenly notify me about going premium. It caught me completely off guard.

In the 19 days since it launched, I’ve written 140,000 characters. In all my years of writing, this is the earliest a book of mine has ever gone premium.

So right now, I’m feeling incredibly anxious and apprehensive.

So here, I sincerely hope that all of you can support the first Chapter subscription!

Every single subscription from you is the greatest encouragement to me!

...

Now, about this book.

In 2023, I wrote a book called "The Last Baller." For various reasons, its performance was terrible. In the end, I didn’t even have the courage to make it a paid book, and I put it on hiatus.

In all my years of writing, this is my biggest regret. I always felt that I had let down all of you who had supported it so staunchly.

It’s also the only soccer-themed novel I’ve ever written that I didn’t finish.

To be honest, I really loved that story, especially the Gao Huairen character arc.

Even though I know such a person could never exist in real life, I still really wanted to write about him.

When I put it on hiatus, I promised everyone that I would rewrite this book.

And so, two years later, we have "God of Soccer Begins with Passive Skills."

I won’t hide it from you all—I hope that while making up for that regret, I can also earn some income from it.

Because I have a family to support.

I’m currently in that high-pressure stage of life where I have elders to care for and children to raise.

My mother, in particular, has been in poor health these past few years and has been in and out of the hospital.

In early August, she was hospitalized for a week due to a minor stroke.

Her condition was stable after she was discharged, so I decided to launch the new book on September 12th. But on the 20th, she had another episode and was hospitalized again.

Thankfully, it was a close call but she pulled through, and she was discharged on the 26th.

Those of you who have known me over the years know that I’m not one to play the victim for sympathy. I usually don’t even like to talk about my personal life in these notes.

Because I’ve always firmly believed in letting my work speak for itself.

There’s just been a lot going on recently, and I’m feeling a bit anxious and uneasy, so I ended up saying a little more than usual here. I hope you can all understand and bear with me.

...

Now, let’s talk about the update schedule after the premium launch.

As I said, a lot has been going on recently, so I really don’t have much of a backlog.

I took a look, and I only have enough for the initial mass release on launch day. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

So, on the first day, I will upload three large Chapters all at once, each one 10,000 characters long.

After the launch, I’ll release two Chapters a day for the first week. After that, it will depend on my writing pace, but I guarantee at least one update per day. I will absolutely not go on hiatus.

And I guarantee they will all be large, 10,000-character Chapters.

Once again, I sincerely hope all you readers can support the first Chapter subscription!

Your enthusiastic subscriptions are the wellspring of my motivation to keep writing like crazy!

While I’m at it, I’d also like to ask for your guaranteed monthly tickets for October!

And last but not least, thank you again to all of my patrons!

I’m on my knees, begging for first Chapter subscriptions!

I’m on my knees, begging for monthly tickets!

My deepest, deepest thanks!!
