Then he looked at the city and said, "You had better be worth it or I will destroy you."

He was looking at the city with a gaze of anticipation and expectation, but everyone else was looking at him with gazes of shock, fear, or awe.

No warrior was in awe of him. They only felt shock or fear. But when he glanced at them, all of their emotions transformed into fear.

The fight between the city defenders and the attackers had only just begun. In fact, the city defenders were the ones doing most of the attacking as they had wall-mounted guns, cannons, and balistae to take advantage of the distance.

The warriors had nothing because they didn’t bring any siege weapons. They didn’t bring any siege weapons because it would slow them down, because they didn’t believe in it, and because they didn’t want to harm the people of the city by mistake.

So the warriors had been taking a beating since the fight started. They were just about to close the distance between them and the walls. Then they would be able to pay back the city defenders for all the attacks that they just endured.

It was time for their retribution, but when Loki glanced at them, they lost their appetite for it. Instead of rushing forward to fight, they stopped in their tracks. Then they took a step back.

In no time, they had all turned away and were running for their lives. Loki had no interest in earning more grade 3 merit points, so he only watched them escape with disinterest.

He didn’t want to kill them, which was a good thing. But his subordinates were not so kind.

With the enemy routed at the start of the battle, they howled in excitement as they pursued. Loki took one last look at them before returning to his airship. His plan was to continue fusing energy threads until the next emergency.

Captain Ivory watched him go with shaky eyes. His eyes were shaking, and his pupils were shrinking because he couldn’t believe what he had just seen.

He had been wondering how he would fare against two rank 4 giants and was already prepared to run away in defeat if necessary. So what he just saw was not at all what he expected to happen.

He expected the two giants to crush Loki and had even wanted to go over to help so that the two of them would fare better against the giants.

But he didn’t get to put his plan into action because he had been too stunned to move. He had remained frozen like that throughout the fight because every time he wanted to make a move, Loki would do something to stun him.

Now that the fight was over, he felt as if he had just come out of a fever dream. But as unbelievable as it was, he had to accept it and move on.

So he took out his token and sent a message to the communication channel of the captains, saying, "We were just attacked by two rank 4 giants. They ganged up on Captain Loki. Loki fought them for 30 seconds and killed them."

He summarized the whole fight into three short lines, but the impact was still shocking, if not more shocking than what he had witnessed with his two eyes.

After all, seeing was believing. He could believe it because he saw it. They didn’t witness it, so there was no way they could believe it.

This was why the first person who responded did so with a laugh as they said, "Is this a joke? Here I thought only Greg could joke in this channel. I guess I was wrong."

Ivory replied, saying, "Believe it or not. That’s what happened."

This prompted someone else to say, "Are you crazy? Isn’t that Loki the new captain? Isn’t he rank 3?"

Another person said, "Didn’t he fail to kill Greg? How come he can kill rank 4 giants now? And two of them, too."

Many more people asked more questions, but Ivory didn’t reply to any of them. He had said what he had to say and had nothing left to say, so he kept quiet in the communication channel.

His silence only infuriated, though. It didn’t compel them to believe his claims. They thought that he was playing a trick on them.

But since he wouldn’t reply, they directed their questions to Loki.

Someone said, "Hey, Loki. Did you really kill those two rank 4 giants?"

Loki replied, saying, "It was just luck."

He was trying to be modest, but his modesty only infuriated them, and it infuriated them far more than Ivory’s silence.

Someone got so angry that they said, "Are you senile? Who are you trying to fool?"

In response, Loki’s voice became cold as he said, "Watch your mouth."

This response took them off guard. It was even more unbelievable than Ivory’s claim that he killed two rank 4 giants. After all, he was just a rank 3 cultivator.

The fact that he was a captain like them didn’t make him their equal. He was only a captain because the Four Directions Sect was lacking in manpower on this battlefield.

The person that he berated asked him in shock, "How dare you? Do you know who I am?"

Loki didn’t know who he was, so he said, "Who are you? Have you killed two rank 4 giants before?"

The person was surprised by his question a little bit, but they still replied, saying, "I have. Just not at the same time. Which is why I think that your claim is bogus."

So Loki said, "The fact that you failed to do so doesn’t mean that I can’t. So be careful with your words with me, or you might offend someone that you can’t afford to offend."

His words only caused more of an uproar in the communication channel. It would have been better for him to keep quiet because he has now given them a reason to dislike him or even hate him.
