THE GOD EATER-Chapter 164: Suspicious Person.
Greg even whistled as he took control of the large airship and drove it towards his post. His mood was flying free like the small dirigible tethered to the large airship.
But his mood took a small dip when he reached his post and saw Loki safe and well waiting for him outside the gate of the city.
The sight of Loki’s figure made him furrow his brows and say, "How is he still alive? What did he do? Does he have a rank 4 Metac?"
"Even if he has a rank 4 Metac, can he use it? But what else could he have used? I doubt there was an airship stored in that luggage of his, and I am sure he is not a rank 4 cultivator."
After racking his head for a long time and failing to come up with an answer, he said to himself, "Never mind. I planned to kill him earlier. I can just add the need to acquire his secret to the mix."
He was grinning by the time he finished saying this. This wide grin on his face, combined with all the blood on him, made him look terrifying.
Loki didn’t see this as he was down below at the gate waiting for permission to enter. He arrived ten minutes ago, but he was not allowed to get in without the permission of his superior.
The city is on the front lines of the battlefield with the Martial Body Sect, so the guards of the city strictly control who enters and who leaves it.
The only reason they haven’t killed him yet is that he didn’t look like a giant or a transformation cultivator, and because he was able to prove that he was a forger. He even showed them his sect token, as that was the only thing that could prove that he was a member of the Four Directions Sect, not a wild forger from outside the sect who was lucky enough to awaken the Telekinesis Core Metac.
Despite all of these, they didn’t let him enter the city. And they were still looking at him with suspicion. This made him regret that he had to keep his mutated Life Ability a secret. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
He grumbled inwardly, saying, "If I fly past the walls, who will be able to stop me at the gate?"
But after grumbling for a while and venting his frustration, he calmed down and said to himself, "I couldn’t have avoided the need to report for duty and be acknowledged by Greg anyway. So maybe it is a good thing that I have to endure it now rather than explain how I bypassed security and entered the city."
This is the result of his third plan. Ever since Greg refused to prepare for an ambush that would force him to reveal his mutated Life Ability, he decided that the only way out was not to witness Greg use the Floating Furnace Life Ability.
So he jumped out of the airship, and when he was close to the ground, he activated the Shifting Armor Ability and used its ability to fly to land safely.
From there, he made his way to his post. This part wasn’t easy to do because he didn’t know where his post was. He only knew the name of his post, and that was true, the notification he received from the sect after Amelia assigned him to it.
Fortunately, he made sure to land near a city. So he went to them and asked for directions.
The people of that city were also wary of him. So he had to prove that he wasn’t a spy before they gave him the direction that he asked for.
This is how he got here, waiting for Greg. Now that Greg had arrived, he was looking forward to entering the city and starting his mission.
A few minutes later, the two airships landed. Then Greg walked over to him with a swagger and a smile on his face.
Loki first saw his bloody figure, but he wasn’t surprised by it because the fight he remembered was bloody. And when he saw that only Greg was still alive, he wasn’t surprised either.
He even curled his lips as he thought to himself, "I wasn’t there to call out the name of his Life Ability and point out that it was different from what it should look like, yet he still killed them. Looks like he lied in the previous timeline."
"He said that he killed them because of me, but the truth was that he was never going to let them go after they saw his Life Ability. What a liar."
Greg didn’t know what he was thinking about and wouldn’t have cared if he knew that Loki was calling him a liar. He walked over to Loki with that snake smile on his face and said, "How did you survive the fall?"
In response, Loki shook his head and said, "You won’t believe it."
But Greg insisted, saying, "Just try me. You might find that I am an open-minded person."
So Loki said, "I fell and landed on a tree. That tree had to be godsent. It cushioned my fall and saved my life."
Greg continued to smile as he said, "Why don’t you try again. Make sure to give me a more believable reason this time around."
It was clear to Loki that Greg didn’t believe his lie. But he couldn’t change it now, as that would confirm that he was lying.
So his eyes teared up as he said, "You must believe me. That’s what happened. I swear it on my father’s life."
This time, Greg stopped smiling. His eyes became cold, and his tone became stern as he said, "Is that so? It seems you don’t take me seriously. In that case, something must be done to rectify this problem."
Before Loki could plead his case some more, Greg pointed at him and said to the guards standing at the wall, "He is a spy. Kill him."
