The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 160: The Crone’s Last Words
Chapter 160: The Crone’s Last Words
When The Crone opened her eyes, she was panting.
The vision was overpowering and draining.
Why was she shown this? And Cerberus’s eyes. The way he stared at her, like he saw her watching.
Or maybe it was him who showed her?
Was she visited by a god?
The Fae were real? They were the original inhabitants of this planet? What happened to them? Where did they go?
Vampires are the children of darkness. Creations of the god Cerberus. She was stunned by all she just witnessed. All the information was swirling jumbled in her mind. She couldn’t make heads or tails of the images that flashed through her head.
Violet wasn’t the first Maiden, or the first energy vampire.
The fallen star, that’s how Odette will bind the evil.
The evil. It now had a name. Ezelreth a primordial demon, a god in the flesh. He was like the opposite of Odette.
Was Odette actually with the shifters because of the prophecy? Has Onyx been reincarnated again with the coming of the MoonChild. Has he found his way to her?
Queen Violet and King Asher! They’ve waged a war to get Odette back, but what if she’s exactly where the goddess Artemis wants her?
The Crone panicked and rushed up from the spring. Hurrying back to where her sister were starting the Rite.
"Wait!" The Crone shouted, stumbling over her gown, she fell.
A loud cry burst from the old woman.
Her heart was slowing, she couldn’t breathe. She needed to tell them, but she was fading.
She knew she had mere seconds left.
"A fallen star." The Crone croaked out coughing. "Bind the evil with a fallen star"
Those were the only words she could manage before a white light consumed her vision.
The women around her were acting frantically. Moving with urgency and angst. The Crone had died and before she did, she said things that didn’t make sense to most of the coven. They were preparing for war, but most weren’t privy to the knowledge of why or who. They simply did what was asked, trained and moved without question.
But now? frёewebnoѵēl.com
What happened? What great evil? What haven’t they been told? The news stirred fear in some of the sisters. But The Maiden and The Mother.
They knew what she meant.
A fallen star would trap the great evil the moon goddess prophesized.
But where would they find a fallen star? They were the rarest substance and impossible to come by.
They needed to do the Rite soon; they needed to contact The Crone before she entered the next cycle. And before they elect the new one.
"Okay, sisters, calm down. We will figure out what’s going on AFTER the Rite has been completed."
The Rite insured the witches would reincarnate. It’s been always been done. No one knows the origins of it, but some traditions aren’t meant to be questioned.
"What great evil, Mother?" Asked one sister relighting candles she was moving to surround The Crone.
Girls came forth with all kinds of flowers, such as, lilies, poppies, hydrangeas, and roses. Others came with crystals like amethyst, moonstone, and opal. Decorating the space around her body. Dressing her delicately, adorning her with colorful scarves that covered her body.
They freed her hair letting it flow effortlessly around her.
Ground cinnamon was poured in a circle around her.
She looked at peace. As if her last moments weren’t her desperately trying to convey something important. She looked like she lived a good life and like this death brought her closer to the gods.
The women held hands and stood together, chanting words in language only witches understand.
A fire let around her caged in by the cinnamon. It raged, flowing in different colors. The flames twirled and twisted, taking different forms showing some of the events in the old woman’s life.
Just as the fire burned the brightest a pair of haunting eyes appeared in the fire. Seering the imprint of its glare into their mind.
Screams slipped from some of the sisters’ mouth’s, watching the eyes see right through them.
A chill slinked in taking hold of all the witches in the room before dissipating. Leaving a cloud of tension and unease shifting between stolen glances.
Silence stretched in the air, which cackled with unspoken tension. Everyone was rattled from seeing the pair of eyes baring into their souls.
"Those eyes, whose were they?" A small voice asked first. Breaking the heavy silence.
"I don’t know but I feel like dreadful after seeing them." Another girl whispered.
The crowd of women was anxious fearful questions started flying around the room.
"That’s what I call nightmare fuel." The Maiden snorted loudly cutting through the hushed tones and quiet whispers starting among the sisters.
Everyone just looked at The Maiden, they shouldn’t be surprised, as serious as she was, she had a side that was equally as humorous. Her humor was mostly dry or dark, but none the less she made everyone, just now, feel a little more relaxed. The sisters loosened their shoulders and their unsteady heartbeats quieted.
"We will get to the bottom of The Crones words and learn what we can about the eyes we all just saw." The Mother spoke up answering unspoken questions.
"Could those eyes, be the eyes of the great evil The Crone spoke about?" One girl in the back asked.
The Mother wondered the same thing. It was possible. Probable even. Things weren’t
The flames show events in chronological order, meaning those eyes were one of the last things she remembered seeing before her spirit left this plane.
"I can’t say for sure, we know just as much as you, in regard to the eyes The Crone saw before she died. I know this is frightening, however like I said, we will get to the bottom of it." The Mother repeated her rehearsed reassuring lines.
"Go, set up for the celebration of life for the late Crone and the elect of the new." The Maiden said, backing The Mother on trying to ease the tension in the room.
Right now, there was nothing they could do, about it, they had to research and investigate. Hopefully summoning The Crone would hold some answers for us, they only had a few hours. They needed to get the sisters out of this space and set up for a séance.
The Maiden speaking up seemed to do the trick, the sisters started leaving the altar room, and the two of them quickly gathered the supplies. Sweeping away the cinnamon, they made a circle of salt around The Crone’s body. Placing candles at 4 points, North, South, East, and West. Placing an item at each candle to represent each god and each element.
The Maiden and The Mother started chanting.
"Ad te, Vetula, te invoco, ad me veni, per Et Virginem y per Et Matrem."
"Ad te, Vetula, te invoco, ad me veni, per Et Virginem y per Et Matrem."
"Ad te, Vetula, te invoco, ad me veni, per Et Virginem y per Et Matrem."
They tried to summon The Crone.
