The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!-Chapter 66 - Silence Talisman
Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Silence Talisman
Chapter 66 -66 Silence Talisman
Both Lucas Jennings and Blaise had placed their bet, but no one really paid much attention except for Lucas himself.
Even Adam Jennings quickly forgot about it after turning his back.
…
That evening, Adam went back to his room for a shower.
Each bedroom in the Jennings Family home had its own bathroom, and Adam’s was no exception.
He entered the bathroom, turned on the shower, and was in the middle of washing his hair when suddenly, the water stopped.
With his head full of suds and unable to open his eyes, Adam instinctively reached for the shower switch, pressing it a few times, but it was unresponsive.
His expression changed, and he grabbed a towel from nearby, haphazardly wiping his eyes before going to the bathroom door to shout out,
“Housekeeper! Uncle Ming! Why’s there no water in my room?!”
His voice wasn’t quiet, but there was no response from outside. Adam assumed no one could hear him through the closed door, so he shouted even louder,
“Uncle Ming! Sister Zhang! There’s no water in my room! Get someone to check it out, quick!”
Adam thought he was shouting loud enough that anyone downstairs should’ve heard him, but there was only silence.
It wasn’t just that no one seemed to hear him, but he also found the silence in his room eerily quiet; he couldn’t even hear the usual nighttime cicadas or insect sounds.
Unexpectedly, he thought of what Scarlett had mentioned about “tonight.”
He also recalled how she loved to mess with those supernatural things.
A chill ran down his spine as he swallowed hard, his arm hairs standing on end.
He threw caution to the wind, wrapped a towel around his waist without concern, and charged out of the bathroom, his head still covered in suds, straight to the door, exclaiming,
“Mom! Uncle Ming!!”
Fear tinged his voice as he shouted, opening the door and rushing outside.
As he opened the door, Adam caught sound from the outside world, and his terrified shout attracted the attention of others in the villa.
Lucas Jennings, whose room was right next to his, was the first to open the door and emerge when he heard the commotion.
“What happened? What happened?”
He turned his head and his eyes widened instantly,
“Oh, my dad!”
Michael Jennings, who was climbing the stairs with Odessa and Uncle Ming, saw Adam with a head full of suds, wearing only a towel, still dripping wet, and their eyes went wide as well.
Odessa instinctively covered little Ismeria Jennings’ eyes, telling her to go downstairs.
Michael Jennings also heard the commotion and came out of the room, his face darkening when he saw Adam’s state, “What are you doing like this?! Go back inside!”
Adam was on the verge of tears.
Did he not want to go back in? His room was clearly haunted!
“Dad, Mom, my room…”
He wanted to say it was haunted, but knowing how his dad was put off by such things, he could only grimace,
“My room… suddenly ran out of water.”
As the family housekeeper, this was naturally Uncle Ming’s responsibility. Hearing this, he dashed forward,
“How could that be?”
He spoke while walking in, finding it highly unlikely.
Not to mention that the water supply in the villa complex had never stopped, but the villa’s water supply system was the most advanced intelligent system available.
Even if a pipe burst, it would automatically issue a warning and shut off the water.
Thinking this, Uncle Ming entered the bathroom and turned on the shower.
Water sprayed forth instantly, accompanied by a bit of steam that nearly splashed onto him.
There was water alright.
And the temperature was normal.
Uncle Ming stood there, confused for a moment.
Knowing Adam couldn’t possibly be lying, he tried the shower a couple more times, turning it off and on…
Since the bathroom and room doors were open, everyone outside clearly heard the water when Uncle Ming tested it, and they all turned to look at Adam.
Adam was momentarily dumbfounded.
“I just… there was no water when I turned it on.”
“Alright, go back in and wash off those suds.”
Michael Jennings thought his son was a little too excitable, shouting over every little thing.
Odessa also advised, “Yeah, go back in, wash up, and change clothes, so you don’t catch a chill.”
Even though it was summer, standing around damp was still an easy way to get sick.
But Adam felt uneasy, thinking about how no one responded to his earlier calls; he didn’t dare go in alone.
“I’ll… I’ll wash in Lucas’s room.”
Saying this and without waiting for his response, Adam marched into Lucas’s bathroom.
Lucas couldn’t stop him in time, so he could only stamp his feet outside the bathroom.
Michael Jennings shook his head and turned back to his room with Odessa.
Over in Lucas’s room, thinking about what had happened, Adam didn’t dare linger in the shower, quickly rinsing off and dressing before stepping out.
As soon as he emerged, he saw two people sitting in Lucas’s room.
One was Lucas, the other was Scarlett.

Adam was startled, then glared at Scarlett.
“Was it you up to tricks just now?!”
He thought, it was clearly a sudden water stop before; how did it work perfectly when Uncle Ming was in there?
And no one responded to his calls; he didn’t believe it was a coincidence.
Recalling Scarlett’s earlier bet, he almost immediately determined it was her doing.
But he didn’t know… what method she used.
Seated nearby, Lucas was equally curious about what had happened.
Scarlett looked at Adam, who was visibly furious, but she remained calm and didn’t deny it. She casually pulled out a Yellow Talisman,
“This is a Silence Talisman. Stick it on the door, and no matter how loud, nothing from inside can be heard outside. You experienced its effect just now.”
She had modified it from the Barrier Talisman’s script, isolating sound while keeping everything else normal.
Though Adam accused Scarlett of pulling a prank, he assumed she used some special technological method.
Little did he expect she casually revealed a talisman, his eyes went wide, leaving him speechless.
Lucas, also wide-eyed but visibly intrigued,
“You have a talisman like this? Sis, I want one too! Sell me one!”
With this talisman, he wouldn’t have to worry about getting caught by his parents while gaming!
He wouldn’t even need headphones!
Scarlett, seeing Lucas’s straightforwardness, nonchalantly responded, “Two thousand each.”
Without hesitation, Lucas nodded and transferred the money via mobile.
Adam stood on the sidelines, utterly dumbfounded.
“You… you really know spells?”
Adam felt his understanding of the world was crumbling.
Scarlett glanced at Adam, not bothering with an explanation, just said, “Bet, I won.”
Adam’s mouth twitched.
He wanted to make her lose on purpose, but considering what had happened just now, with everyone in the house seeing it, there was no way to deny it.
Suddenly, he thought of something else, staring at Scarlett with an uneasy expression,
“Wait, even if you used a talisman, what about the water in my room?”
Adam wondered if Scarlett might have summoned a ghost to turn off his water midway through his shower.
Otherwise, how else could it be so perfectly timed…
Thinking a ghost might have been watching him shower, Adam’s hair stood on end again, looking at Scarlett like she was some kind of monster.
Scarlett met his gaze and offered another explanation,
“The household Water Control system can monitor water usage in every room in real-time.”
Adam: ???
Not a ghost???
Scarlett seemed to sigh, explaining, “I just watched your water usage and estimated the time to turn off the valve in your room, that’s all.”
Hearing this, Adam’s mouth twitched violently.
Just “that’s all!”
