The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!-Chapter 436 I’m Going to Accuse Him of Premeditated Murder
Chapter 436: Chapter 436 I’m Going to Accuse Him of Premeditated Murder
The incident happened so suddenly that Lucas Jennings took a punch in the face, leaving him stunned for a moment.
Growing up, there were very few people who dared to lay a hand on him.
Once Lucas regained his composure, anger surged instantly. Ignoring the crowd of onlookers, his eyes turned cold as he grabbed Harry Whitley by the collar and hit him back hard.
Though Lucas had been pampered since childhood, he had practiced enough to hold his own. Harry, on the other hand, worked a desk job and never exercised, so it wasn’t long before he was completely overwhelmed by Lucas’s punches.
Fiona Harper was stunned on the sidelines, and when she realized what was happening, she scrambled to her feet, crying and shouting at the two of them,
"Stop fighting! Please stop fighting! Don’t fight because of me, okay?"
Lucas was utterly fed up with this woman. He didn’t even know who she was!
Even though he usually adhered to the Jennings Family’s decorum, he couldn’t help but curse at her in this moment,
"Shut up! Who the hell is fighting because of you?! Do I even know you?!"
Just as he was distracted for a brief moment, Harry seized the opportunity and lunged at him again, locking the two into a physical tussle.
Harry knew he couldn’t beat Lucas, but with Fiona watching, he felt obligated to stand his ground as a man. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Even though his mouth and nose were already bleeding, Harry defiantly shouted,
"Don’t you dare curse at her! Someone like you isn’t worthy of Fiona!"
As he yelled, an inexplicable surge of strength overcame him, and he threw his entire body at Lucas.
Lucas tried to step back to avoid him, but his foot suddenly slipped on some spilled cream from before, causing him to lose balance. Harry’s forceful collision hit him directly, sending Lucas violently backward.
They were already close to the second-floor railing, and the railing wasn’t high. From the impact, Lucas flipped straight over the edge, crashing directly onto a glass display table below.
A deafening shatter echoed as the glass exploded, followed by a chorus of screams from the crowd.
The onlookers rushed to the railing, only to see Lucas lying motionless amidst the shards of shattered glass.
Fiona was frozen in terror, her cries abruptly ceasing.
Harry was equally stunned, his face draining of color as he encountered the horrified and accusatory stares of the crowd,
"I... I didn’t do it on purpose..."
Someone gasped and shouted, "Ambulance! Call an ambulance right now!!!"
A fall from the second floor wasn’t extraordinarily high, but landing directly on a glass display table? If he wasn’t dead, those shards could’ve seriously injured him—it was a situation that demanded immediate medical attention. Wait... what?
Just as the onlookers hurriedly pulled out their phones to call for help, the figure lying among the glass shards stirred slightly—then slowly sat up.
Harry and Fiona were already rushing downstairs in a panic.
To everyone’s astonishment, Lucas, though gashed and nicked in several places, appeared to have avoided serious injury.
Sitting amidst the wreckage, Lucas ignored the concerned queries and exclamations around him, instinctively reaching toward his chest.
When he fell into the glass display, he had distinctly felt a momentary heat against his chest.
His hand reflexively reached into his collar, but all he touched was a smear of black ash.
Suddenly, a shock ran through Lucas’s mind.
Though he’d never personally experienced it, he’d heard stories recently about talisman papers warding off disasters.
In that instant, he was utterly convinced—he had just been saved by one of those talismans.
More accurately, he had been saved by Scarlett Jennings—she had once again rescued him.
"Bro, are you okay? Do you need me to call you an ambulance?"
A nearby passerby, seeing Lucas staring dazedly, cautiously asked again.
Lucas abruptly lifted his gaze to the person who spoke and answered coolly,
"No need for an ambulance. Call the police instead."
As he spoke, a chilling look sharpened in his eyes. He raised his head to meet Harry, who had rushed closer, and said in an unyieldingly icy tone, "I’m pressing charges against him for attempted murder!"
Harry looked at Lucas in disbelief,
"I didn’t! I didn’t do it on purpose!"
He hadn’t meant to harm anyone!
How could he possibly be accused of attempted murder?
But Lucas had no patience to entertain a crazy man’s excuses. Watching Harry try to explain, he let out a cold laugh,
"Save your breath for my lawyer!"
Fiona looked at Lucas, uncertain whether to feel relieved that he was all right or to beg for Harry’s forgiveness on his behalf.
After all, at the heart of it, Brother Harry had only acted for her.
"Lucas, Lucas, are you okay? Let me take you to the hospital," Fiona stammered.
Hearing her voice grated Lucas. He shot her a disdainful glance,
"And you! He tried to kill me, and you’re his accomplice. Neither of you is getting out of this!"
Lucas never considered himself ruthless, no matter how Fiona had pestered him before, he never thought of retaliating.
But just now...
He’d come dangerously close to being murdered by this pair of scum.
This was something he could not, and would not, let slide.
They both had to pay for what they’d done.
Reflecting on everything that had happened today, Lucas genuinely felt like he’d forgotten to check his horoscope before stepping outside.
Who the hell had he provoked?
Ran into two mad dogs like this.
Soon after, news of Lucas being pushed and nearly killed spread quickly. The Jennings Family driver rushed him to the hospital for an evaluation.
As for Harry and Fiona, they were promptly taken into police custody, with the Jennings Family’s legal team handling the rest.
Lucas only needed to focus on recovering.
Though the amulet had saved him from any major injury, his body still bore quite a few superficial wounds.
While Lucas was in the hospital, Lucas Jennings made a special visit. Upon hearing that the talisman from Scarlett had saved him, Lucas Jennings beamed with pride,
"See? I told you my sister’s talismans were incredible. Brother Chase, you should start listening to her more—it’ll do you good."
Lucas rolled his eyes at him.
Ever since the incident with Azura Loomis, he realized his younger brother loved lecturing him.
Anyone unaware would think he was the older brother.
But this time, Lucas couldn’t refute him.
The previous favor was already forgiven, but this time he couldn’t possibly pay off the debt with a 1% share of the company group again.
Not that he was stingy; it simply felt insincere.
Looking past Lucas Jennings, Lucas uncomfortably asked,
"I was nearly killed—did Scarlett Jennings not come to see me?"
Lucas Jennings seemed amused by the question, his expression a teasing astonishment,
"What kind of daydream are you having? My sister is busy, and you only sustained minor injuries. Why would she come to see you?"
What Lucas Jennings didn’t add was that his brother seemed to have some serious misconceptions about where he ranked in Scarlett’s priorities.
"Besides..." Lucas muttered softly, "This isn’t the first time you’ve been targeted."
Lucas: ...
Well said. Next time, keep quiet.
