The Extra's Reincarnation-Chapter 65: The Royal 8 Challenge (3)
The young boy stood tall and proud, already reaching the height of his mother. His shoulders were broad and well-shaped, giving him an air of maturity beyond his years. He donned a long, crisp white coat that hung gracefully to his mid-thigh. The coat boasted a high, stand-up collar that added to his regal appearance, tailored perfectly to fit his slender frame.
Along with his immaculate garments, he sported gold embellishments on his shoulders in the form of ornate epaulets.
These decorative accents were intricately structured, featuring a delicate fringe that gently draped over his upper arm. Completing his ensemble was a short red cape, fastened elegantly along the left side of his shoulder, adding a subtle pop of color to his otherwise white and gold attire.
[Javier Rowan Aureus (9), The Royal Prince Of The Aureus Kingdom]
"Javier, you’re back so soon? Did your training with Saint Alonso go well?"
Queen Azura rushed up to embrace her son warmly.
"Mr. Alonso told me to have a break for a few days, so I thought it was best to just come and see who’ll be the person looking after my precious little sister,"
Javier’s eyes swept over the crowd of young participants, his gaze sharp and assessing. Despite his youthful appearance, there was a gravity to his demeanor that contradicted his age.
He took a seat next to Francine, his posture perfect and regal.
"So, little sister, have you spotted any promising candidates yet?"
He said with a low controlled voice, however he couldn’t let his sister’s royal blade just be anyone, if anything else the Royal blade needed to be someone he could trust and ensure that his sister remained unharmed because Javier would do anything to protect his sister.
Francine shrugged, her blue eyes narrowing as she scanned the sea of faces below.
"It’s hard to say. There are a few that stand out, but..."
"…!"
Francine’s gaze widened as she spotted the boy in Ophelia’s group. He had just passed through one of the portal gates and now stood nervously, attempting to blend in with the sea of children.
-What’s he doing here? I’m sure this regression has its surprises, but I’ve never seen that person before. Especially at the Royal 8 selection, it must’ve been the regressor’s change but that can’t be all the factors because I’m sure people’s positions within events can change, but the impact should always be the same so there shouldn’t be a significant change in the events.
Francine’s gaze lingered on the boy with black hair and red eyes, her brow furrowing slightly as she studied him. There was something... different about this boy. Something she couldn’t quite put her finger on. In all her previous lives, she had never seen him at the Royal 8 Challenge before.
Javier noticed his sister’s sudden interest and followed her line of sight.
"That boy there? He doesn’t look like much."
Though only nine years old, Javier was far more advanced than his peers. As a member of the Aureus bloodline, known for their magical abilities and successful kingdom, it was no surprise that he possessed a keen eye for spotting potential in others.
However, when observing this new candidate, he couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed by the lack of mana emanating from him.
"I suppose… but even then, I don’t sense much mana from him."
Francine squinted her eyes to gaze at the boy’s mana core, but couldn’t focus due to the massive crowd.
"Yeah, I agree, it doesn’t look like he’ll last,"
DUN…
As the lights cut out, a hush fell over the crowd as King Paul stepped onto the raised platform at the front of the hall.
His regal presence commanded immediate attention, and even the most boisterous of children fell silent.

"Welcome, young participants, to the Royal 8 Challenge," the king’s voice boomed, magically amplified to reach every corner of the vast hall. "You stand here today as the brightest and most promising of your generation, each of you hoping to earn the honored position of Royal Blade to my daughter, Princess Francine. The path ahead will not be easy,"
King Paul continued, his eyes sweeping across the sea of young faces before him.
"You will be tested in ways you cannot yet imagine. Your strength, your intellect, your character - all will be pushed to their limits and beyond. But know this, the Royal Blade is more than just a protector. They are a confidant, a advisor, a true companion to the royal they serve. The bond between a Royal Blade and their charge is sacred, unbreakable."
The king’s voice softened slightly, though it lost none of its authority.
Meanwhile...
Sitting beside the Aureus royal family, Franz and the Evera family watched as the King made his introduction.
Franz was only there to please the royal family and had no interest in the weak flock of kids before him.
He carefully observed each and everyone of the participants, but none were at his expectations of power. Though he had hoped to find at least one interesting person who was somewhat unique, his realization kicked in that no one came close to his level, which left him feeling even more isolated and desolate.
As King Paul wrapped up his speech, a figure emerged on the stage. Her commanding presence filled the room and even the children in the audience couldn’t help but feel intimidated by her aura.
GASP!
-Is that?
-That’s one of the continental mages!
-She’s one of the subjugators of the recent demonic bishops!
"Good evening, everyone. I’m sure most of you know me, but for those who don’t, I’ll briefly introduce myself. I’m Meredith Emery, the leader of the Inheritor’s Magic Association, responsible for investigations of magic disorder across the continent. I’m also a Continental Mage who has achieved Creation in Spell Arts, and I’m widely known as the strongest Front Caster in the world. But that’s enough of me, I’d like to thank King Paul and his family for allowing me to oversee and instruct the Royal 8 Challenge. I’ll be looking forward to see which one of you will become the kingdom’s blade."
[Meredith Emery, Mage Role: Frontcaster - Leader Of The Inheritor’s Magic Association, Rank: 7 Star Mage, Title: Continental Hero]
She gracefully bowed on the stage, exuding a confidence that most kids could only dream of. Not only was she incredibly powerful, but her beauty was also exceptional.
The crowd of young participants erupted into excited whispers at Meredith’s introduction. Even Julian, who had been trying to blend into the background, found himself leaning forward with interest. He had heard tales of the legendary Front caster, but never imagined he’d see her in person.
