The Extra's Advent: My Villainess Fiancée is a Yandere-Chapter 35: An Old Legend [2]
Cael walked around the rundown buildings.
Fortunately, water sources were very abundant here.
He felt a little annoyed; he had been walking and looking around mindlessly for hours, yet he hadn’t found a single suspicious place.
All he saw were men talking and doing odd jobs, and women washing clothes at the lakeside, hanging them on wires or ropes tied between two trees.
Cael hadn’t talked to anyone yet. For now, he was focused on searching for any suspicious places.
Time continued to pass, and soon it was midday.
Cael sat under the shade of a tree and looked around. Seeing that no one was nearby, he took out a pancake from his space pouch and started eating it.
’This is so boring.’
He sighed as he stood up and continued walking.
Cael’s eyes suddenly flashed sharply when he noticed someone following him.
It was a little boy, around ten years old, clumsily trailing behind him.
’Well... well, it looks like someone took the bait.’
Cael casually entered an alley.
The boy quickly followed, but when he arrived inside, Cael was nowhere to be seen.
After checking twice, the dejected boy finally left.
Little did he know that two violet eyes were watching him from the top of a nearby building.
Now it was Cael’s turn to follow the boy.
The boy was very careful while walking, constantly checking his surroundings.
He even stole money from a passerby.
Seeing this, Cael was shocked.
’Looks like this kid was trained under someone.’
Time passed, and it was already late at night.
Suddenly, Cael’s rank spiked from [Silver 1] to [Silver 2].
But Cael didn’t put much thought into it. Right now, he had a job to do.
The boy suddenly met up with another kid.
Then they met another.
And another.
Soon, there were around thirty kids gathered together.
None of them spoke. None of them laughed.
They simply walked in silence.
They all entered a tightly secured building. Several adults were patrolling and guarding the area.
’Looks like I found it.’
Cael immediately sent his location to the others, asking them to come.
He carefully approached one of the guards, who was an [Iron 3], from behind.
With a swift motion, Cael knocked him unconscious and disguised himself as the guard.
Looking around, Cael found an empty corner with stacked firewood.
He placed the unconscious guard there, tied him up, and covered his mouth so he wouldn’t scream if he woke up.
Then Cael nonchalantly entered the building.
Soon, he found the kids.
Cael hid behind a pillar and observed the scene.
The kids were sitting on the ground in rows.
In front of them was a single chair, as if they were all waiting for someone.
The children were unusually silent.
Soon, a very old man slowly limped toward the chair.
The children immediately lowered their heads when they saw him.
Cael’s heartbeat quickened.
That old man was a [Gold] ranker.
Cael’s instincts immediately screamed danger.
’Oh great... it would be best if Mira came faster.’
Why Mira when Luke was the nearest, you ask?
Well, he had another job to do.
That is... confronting Kira Crimson.
...
On the otherside.
Kira received a message in the group chat that Cael had found a clue.
Following the directions, she immediately started running toward the destination.
Suddenly, a dagger embedded itself in the ground in front of her, stopping her in her tracks.
Luke calmly walked toward the dagger and pulled it out.
"What do you think you are doing?"
Kira asked as she pulled out her spear.
Luke shrugged.
"I just want to ask a single question... are you human or vampire?"
Kira closed her eyes, gripping her spear tightly.
"Fine. I take it you don’t want to answer. Then sorry... I can only kill you."
Kira opened her eyes and said,
"Aren’t you worried about your brother? He might die, you know."
Luke replied calmly,
"You don’t have to worry about him. I am more worried about a bug like you being near him."
Seeing that Luke was serious, Kira sighed and stopped hiding the truth.
"How long have you known this?"
Luke raised an eyebrow.
"So, you are not denying it. I take it that you are indeed a vampire."
Kira didn’t answer and repeated her question.
"Now tell me, how did you find out? And when did you find out?"
Luke took out his second dagger and replied,
"Not too long ago. Someone tipped us."
Luke didn’t hide the information about the disguiser. That person seemed to know about Kira and her origins.
Hearing about the disguiser, Kira’s eyes widened.
"Th-that’s... disguiser... kids... no way!"
As if recalling something, she suddenly looked at the sky.
Her eyes stopped on the full moon.
"This can’t be happening."
Then, without saying anything else, Kira started running toward Cael’s direction.
Luke was about to stop her when Kira shouted,
"Your brother will truly die if we don’t go. I promise I will tell you everything, but first we have to stop them!"
Luke paused.
He didn’t know what was happening.
But... he decided to follow her.
It wasn’t trust or anything, it was simply:
’What if her words are true?’
But if she made even a single suspicious move, she would die.
And he would make sure of it.
...
Meanwhile,
The old man slowly sat down on the chair as the children quietly watched him.
None of the children moved. Even their breathing seemed synchronized.
He coughed lightly, then looked at them with a gentle smile.
"Children," the old man began, his voice calm yet strangely firm.
"Do you know why this city is safe?"
None of the children answered. The old man chuckled softly and said,
"That is because a god resides in this city."
"A god who sees all... A god who knows all... A god whose power knows no limit."
The children listened silently. As the old man continued,
"This god watches over the city day and night. Nothing escapes its gaze. Every lie, every theft, every evil deed... the god sees it all."
"And when someone commits a sin... the god punishes them."
The old man leaned forward slightly.
"Let me tell you a story."
"A long time ago, a foolish devil entered this city."
"The devil believed he was strong. He believed he could challenge the god."
The old man shook his head slowly.
"But the devil did not know his place. And after wandering the city for a while..."
The old man paused.
"...the devil became hungry."
"Very hungry."
"And do you know what the devil wanted to eat?"
The old man slowly scanned the children.
"...children."
Several of the kids lowered their heads nervously.
Then the old man suddenly stopped speaking.
The air became strangely quiet.
Slowly, he lifted his wrinkled hand and pointed directly at the pillar where Cael was hiding.
His cloudy eyes stared straight ahead.
"The hungry devil is now hiding behind that pillar."
At once, every child in the room slowly turned their heads toward the pillar.
Dozens of small eyes stared in the same direction.
And behind that pillar...
Cael stood completely still. He heard everything,
"Well... this is awkward."
