The Extra Who Shouldn't Exist-Chapter 45 : Standoff of ladies
Chapter 45: Chapter 45 : Standoff of ladies
The night air hung heavy with an eerie silence, the moonlight filtering through the twisted branches of the dark forest.
Lilith Noctis Bloodrose stood, her back straight, the shadows of the island’s foliage casting long, menacing shapes around her. Her crimson eyes, cold and sharp, glinted with irritation as she surveyed the scene before her.
She leaned forward, gaze sharp as a predator denied its kill. The candidates she had been toying with—were now eliminated, eliminated by transparent ice spears. But that wasn’t what made her mood sour.
Her lips curled in annoyance. Someone had stolen her kill.
Lilith’s gaze flicked toward the source of the interference. She did not need to search for long before she saw her.
From the trees stepped a lone figure, graceful and radiating elegance Seraphina Starlight, her blue hair cascading over her shoulder, her attire pristine as always, untouched by the chaos of the battlefield.
Seraphina Starlight, standing tall and confident, emerged from the trees, her long blue hair shimmering under the light of the moon. Her icy eyes met Lilith’s, and a small smirk crept onto her lips.
Lilith’s eyes glowed dangerously, a dangerous flicker of crimson igniting in the depths of her gaze. The surrounding air seemed to grow colder with the weight of her killing intent. Her fangs slightly peeked from her lips as she glared at the Starlight heir.
"Oh my," Seraphina’s voice was melodic yet mocking, her tone light and teasing. "Why are you in such a foul mood, princess Lilith? Did someone steal your prey or something?"
Lilith froze, her expression unreadable. She had not expected this encounter, not at all. In fact, she barely knew who Seraphina Starlight was, aside from the fact that she had been one of the exam participants she hadn’t taken notice of—until now.
And yet, here she was, facing the vampire princess with that infuriatingly confident look in her eyes.
Lilith narrowed her gaze, the tip of her lip twitching with growing frustration. A faint, dark aura pulsed around her, leaking the first traces of her killing intent.
She stared down at Seraphina, her eyes flashing with cold fury. But as she inhaled deeply, she allowed herself to calm, taking a moment to regain control.
"Well, well," Lilith purred, her voice smooth yet dripping with venom. "If it isn’t Seraphina Starlight. You’ve got some nerve coming here, trying to steal what’s mine, Seraphina."
Seraphina raised an elegant brow, a hint of mock surprise crossing her face. "Oh, but I didn’t steal anything. I was simply... taking what you clearly couldn’t handle."
She let the words hang in the air for a moment before adding with a teasing grin, "Seems like your plans are getting a little out of control, huh? I can’t help but notice, you have amassed a lot of points by using your little followers."
Lilith’s lips parted, ready to rip back another barb, but Seraphina was quicker. "It’s okay though, i can now help you with what you could not handle".
Lilith burst out laughing then with an exaggerated sigh. "You’re so cute are you jealous. But don’t worry, I’ll save you the embarrassment of failing . You can still join my group... if you behave like a puppy, of course."
Seraohina eyes flashed dangerously, and the temperature around her seemed to drop. "You think you’re funny, don’t you?" she hissed through gritted teeth. "You’ve got a mouth on you, Princess.
Then taking a calm breath seraphina raised her hands mockingly. "I’m just having some fun, don’t mind me. But if you want to play, go ahead. Steal my points if you can. Or perhaps, you’ll let me steal yours instead."
Lilith tilted her head to the side, her gaze cold but thoughtful. "You think I can’t? Well, it doesn’t matter. I was gonna steal your points, anyway to make up for the loss." She spoke with absolute confidence.
"Oh, you really are confident, aren’t you?" Seraphina said, her tone cool but laced with a challenge. "But let’s be honest, Princess. Confidence won’t save you from what’s coming. You may be strong, but you’re not invincible."
Lilith’s smile turned ice cold, and she responded with a biting remark. "And what makes you think you’re invincible, hmm? You may have some tricks up your sleeve, but you’re just a alone candidate playing against a queen it doesn’t matter how strong you are."
Seraphina smirked, her eyes glinting with an edge of amusement. "Is that so? At least I’m not wasting my time on mindless things like hearing people scream. It’s a shame you have to use others to do your dirty work. But then again, that’s all you’re good at, isn’t it?"
The back-and-forth insults grew increasingly venomous, with both women exchanging barbed words. The tension between them was palpable, each one trying to gain the upper hand, their words sharp and cutting.
"You’re as predictable as they come," Lilith sneered, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "So quick to speak, so quick to act. It’s almost cute, really."
Seraphina’s lips curled into an even more mocking grin. "Cute? How flattering," she retorted. "Maybe next time I’ll leave you some room to breathe, princess. Though, I doubt you’ll make it that far."
And just so you know—I’m not some lowly candidate you can push around." Her voice was teasing but laced with undeniable confidence.
Lilith narrowed her eyes. "You think you’re the only one capable of making threats?" she asked. "I’ve seen your little stunts, Starlight. You’re not as special as you think you are."
"Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you were the queen of the exam," Seraphina quipped, her smirk never fading. "How silly of me."
"You’re one to talk," Lilith shot back, her voice venomous. "With that smug little attitude of yours, you’d think you were royalty yourself. Too bad you’re just another obstacle in my way."
"Oh, I’m an obstacle? How cute," Seraphina teased, putting a hand on her chest. "I didn’t realize I was standing in your way, princess. How awkward."
"Don’t get ahead of yourself," Lilith snarled, stepping forward. "You think you can talk to me like that? I’ll crush you like the insect you are."
Seraphina just chuckled lightly. "I see you’re not all talk, then. Go ahead, try. But don’t be surprised when I make you regret it."
For a moment, the two women locked eyes, both silently daring the other to make a move. The tension between them was palpable, like the stillness before a storm. But instead of continuing their confrontation, something strange happened. Both women, unexpectedly, burst out laughing at the same time.
Lilith tilted her head back, her laughter ringing through the air like the sound of tinkling silver. "You’re insane, Seraphina and I like it," she said with a chuckle.
Seraphina grinned. "And you’re not as terrifying as they say. Just a princess who thinks she owns everything."
The insults flew back and forth, with neither one willing to back down. And just when it seemed like they were about to clash—physically and verbally—both women became silent.
Lilith let out a soft chuckle. "I think we’ve both made our points, haven’t we?
Then shall we start with what we are suppose to be doing in the exam."
Suddenly the the pressure in the surrounding increased.
Isadora Vale, who had been standing silently in the background, finally stepped forward. Her voice was calm but respectful as she addressed Lilith. "My lady," she said, bowing slightly. "May I... put this insolence in her place?"
Lilith glanced at Isadora, then smirked. "Oh, Isadora, "You can’t have all the fun, dearest. Besides... Seraphina’s stronger than you.
No one else is going to get the satisfaction of dealing with her. I’ll handle it myself."
Isadora’s lips tightened, but she didn’t object before she nodded in understanding.
Lilith’s expression then turned slightly more serious as she addressed Seraphina. "Of course," she continued, her tone dripping with amusement. "I could fight you, but..." She looked around, her eyes gleaming with dark humor. "You’re alone, and I have dozens of followers here. Are you sure you want to make this a battle?"
Seraphina pretended to consider this, tapping her chin dramatically. "Hmm... let me think for a moment..." Her eyes narrowed playfully. "Who said I’m alone?"
The ground beneath them trembled. freewebnoveℓ.com
The gravity in the entire area suddenly increased, pressing down on everyone with crushing force. Many of Lilith’s followers who couldn’t bear the overwhelming weight hit the ground with a sickening thud, gasping for air. Only Lilith seemed unaffected, standing tall and still, her piercing gaze locked onto the source of the pressure.
Seraphina remained composed, her eyes glimmering with a secretive smile. "It seems you’re not the only one with tricks up her sleeve."
A figure slowly emerged from the shadows, a lady with white hair that shimmered like moonlight. Her figure was enigmatic, her aura chilling and unfamiliar.
Lilith’s eyes locked onto her, and her expression darkened. A slow, menacing smirk spread across her face. "So, this is how it is, huh?" Her voice was low, filled with dangerous amusement. "You’ve brought someone else into this fight."
The figure stood still, her presence undeniable.
Lilith’s smirk tightened, her bloodlust rising. "This just got interesting."
