The Eldest Daughter of a Rural Family-Chapter 1174 - 270: Malicious Intentions_3
Chapter 1174: Chapter 270: Malicious Intentions_3
"He has parents, and since he’s distantly related, you’re just a sister who isn’t even close," Mo Heng reminded her with dissatisfaction.
Pei Qin looked wide-eyed, "So, I can only hang out with women from now on?"
"You can hang out with me," Mo Heng took her hand.
Pei Qin disdainfully turned away, "You’re boring and flirty, I don’t want to hang out with you!"
Mo Heng stared at her somberly.
Pei Qin hadn’t even reacted when her goosebumps did, suddenly standing at attention. With a shiver, she quickly hugged his arm, smiling ingratiatingly, "I’ve never hosted a banquet before. If you’re free, why don’t you teach me? Let’s have fun together!"
Mo Heng looked at her with a smile, "I’m not free."
"For me, you’d definitely find the time!" Pei Qin shook his arm. She had recently learned to act coquettishly from her darling daughter.
Mo Heng slightly raised an eyebrow.
Pei Qin stood on her toes and kissed him on the cheek, "Dear! Let’s have fun together!"
"First, dance with me," Mo Heng said, lowering his head to lightly kiss her forehead.
Pei Qin cursed inwardly but smiled and handed him her hand. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Mo Heng took her hand and his other arm wrapped around her waist, leading her in dance steps through The Plum Garden.
Suddenly, the sounds of a zither and flute drifted over.
Pei Qin stopped and turned to look.
"It’s Jiujiu and the others," Mo Heng continued with her.
In the pavilion outside The Plum Garden, Jiujiu was seated at the zither, her small hands plucking the strings. Happy sat beside, playing the flute, with Xixi intermittently shaking a tambourine.
Though the music was naive, simple, and raw, it flowed smoothly and cheerfully over and over.
Jiujiu glanced at the shadowy figures strolling in The Plum Garden, smiled, and continued playing.
Happy continued on the flute and Xixi the tambourine.
Pei Qin, feeling hot and weary as if steam might start coming from her head, prompted Mo Heng to stop.
Hearing the music stop, Jun Suxue came over, "General! Marquis! It’s time to eat."
Having been conferred the title of Madam Marquis of Xining, many people changed to addressing her as Madam Pei. In Great Chu Dynasty, married women do not take their husband’s surname, they are addressed with their maiden name, a mark of special honor reserved only for women of outstanding contributions.
Yet Jun Suxue wasn’t accustomed to calling her Madam Pei—she still preferred her title as General Pei.
Hearing this title, Mo Heng only glanced at her.
While Pei Qin went to freshen up with the kids, Mo Heng called Mr. Jun for a talk, "Ms. Jun isn’t getting any younger, she should marry soon, right?"
"Yes." Mr. Jun, unsure about the purpose of his question and considering Pei Qin’s inability to have more children, wondered wildly.
Mo Heng handed him a list, "My wife and I have unmarried personal soldiers under our command, take a look and choose one!"
Mr. Jun, suddenly understanding, bowed his head to receive the list, "Thank you, Marquis! We elderlies are worried about not knowing anyone in Capital Jingcheng, and with General Pei being busy, we didn’t dare trouble the General for this."
"Before the year ends, we’re moving, and indeed, it’s busy. Let me know if you need anything!" Mo Heng said before dismissing him.
Was he asking them to settle things before the end of the year to avoid troubling General Pei!? Mr. Jun left with the list.
Food was served, and Jun Suxue also returned to eat with her parents.
At the dining table, Mr. Jun discussed the matchmaking, "I’ve looked over these few. Even though there are no portraits, the households and characters are all quite good, and they are followers of the Marquis and the General, so their prospects are surely not bad. We can inquire about all and pick a suitable one."
Jun Suxue thought of the glance Mo Heng had given her, feeling a chill in her heart.
Madam Jun urged her, "Suxue! You’re not young anymore. Staying in Tiance Mansion like this isn’t good. Although General Pei doesn’t say anything, if you don’t find someone, it’s also a burden on General Pei’s mind!"
Jun Suxue, holding her chopsticks, was silent for a while before finally nodding, "...I’ll look."
Mr. Jun and Madam Jun, seeing her agree, hurriedly nodded in response, "Silly child! No woman doesn’t marry!"
Jun Suxue’s eyes reddened as she put down her bowl, "I’m full." She rose quickly and returned to her room.
Mr. Jun and Madam Jun exchanged a glance and sighed, but it had to be done! With General Pei moving to Tiance Mansion, they couldn’t keep living like this. It was also for their daughter’s own good!
After the Laba Festival, Mo Heng and Pei Qin moved with their family, including Jiujiu and Xixi, the two little radishes, to Tiance Mansion, also known as the Marquis Mansion Xining. Pei Yuan’s family, Pei Qian, and Fang Liuming temporarily stayed at the original place. The original General Mansion would be used as the residence for Ms. Jun Suxue and Pei Wendong after their marriage. This was a request from Ms. Jun Suxue, wanting to live with Pei Qin.
