Chapter 153: Bonding (1)

Tyrion entered the dungeon in the Collins estate to see the people Edgar held captive.

He was surprised to see how many empty cells there were, but he was certain they would soon fill up.

"Be careful you don’t end up here. I am not always so kind as to let everyone who enters leave," Edgar said as he entered behind Tyrion.

"So I’ve heard. Only your mother had the pleasure of leaving your dungeon. Fortunately, I will not end up here. Though I feel you would like to see me here even if I do nothing wrong," Tyrion said, careful not to get too close to a cell.

Tyrion was always going to be the man who took away Penelope without giving Edgar proper time to prepare to send her off.

"I don’t like to waste my time. Why would I chase after you if you haven’t done anything wrong?" Edgar asked, bored with their talk already.

Tyrion wasn’t that important for Edgar to be waiting for him to make a little mistake.

"Because Penelope is your precious daughter. I am building a dungeon like this, but it will need to be bigger," Tyrion said, inspecting Edgar’s decor.

It had an eerie feeling which should scare anyone unfortunate enough to find themselves here.

"Aside from the men so foolish to court Penelope, Ronan and his daughter might be among the first guests," said Tyrion.

From standing back and watching, Tyrion placed Amelia and her little group of followers as the source of where all the rumours about Penelope started.

They were the same women who stood before him, trying to get his interest in the past.

"I thought once I had the woman I loved, life would become simple," Tyrion shared.

Edgar chuckled since it was a silly dream for this town. "That will never happen here for a man of your standing. A prince can never have peace. Even noblemen like myself were bothered often."

"You’re still bothered? I would expect that the town knows to leave you alone by now," Tyrion said, turning to face Edgar.

"I said that I was bothered. I have long taken measures to keep people I don’t care for away from myself and my family. I have given them reason to think twice about approaching me. There will always be a handful to be so bold as to approach," said Edgar.

Many thought everyone in town was afraid of Edgar, but they were wrong. There was always someone trying to challenge him, trying to prove that they had more money or power.

"I have seen it over the years," Tyrion said, recalling a few instances.

"How well does the town know you, little prince?"

Tyrion frowned, disliking the name and the mocking tone Edgar said it in.

Still, Tyrion replied, "Not well. I have spent most of my life in the palace. They have only gotten a glimpse of me at balls or when I had the chance to leave the palace."

"You still have your title and father’s support, but there will be men who see you without power. They don’t know what to make of you, so they will challenge you to see if they hold more power than a prince. Don’t disappoint me," Edgar said, expecting great things from Tyrion.

Edgar wanted Tyrion to surprise him and others around the town.

Tyrion smiled since Edgar didn’t know him well. "I think it is time I return to my wife," he said.

"Take the men I have offered you along with you now, and all of Penelope’s pets. She is no longer here, so I don’t see any reason to hold them here," said Edgar.

It was about time Edgar got to relieve the estate of some of the many animals his wife and daughters found and brought home over the years.

"Since she has not made any effort to bring the pets home, perhaps she wants them to give you some comfort," Tyrion said, enjoying how annoyed Edgar looked.

"Take them with you."

"Before I leave, you must tell me what you plan to do with Warren when he is captured. Will you kill him or hold him here before his inevitable death? I don’t think it is wise for him to be placed here. His mother will speak of you," said Tyrion.

Tyrion was willing to bet that even the town guards would come to Edgar once it came out that Warren was missing.

"I don’t have a grand dungeon like you do, but it is enough so far to place Warren there," Tyrion suggested.

It paid off that the town didn’t know Tyrion so well. He would be last on the list to check for Warren since he didn’t have any known issues with Warren.

Edgar considered it. He had far bigger fish to go after.

"Very well," Edgar agreed. "Reed will take him to your home once he has been caught."

Tyrion walked with Edgar out of the dungeon. According to the duchess, they had spent too much time speaking about it. Luckily, Elijah distracted his mother.

On his way out, Tyrion crossed paths with Lily.

"Is there something you wish to say to me?" Tyrion asked, noticing her curious stare.

"I find it interesting that though Penelope and I are identical, you have always known who stands before you. Many people around the town can tell," said Lily.

"There is the fact that your sister is visiting your grandmother, and you always approach with a smile like you are up to no good. Penelope seeks to get away from crowds," Tyrion explained.

"I see. So I am the more approachable twin. That is interesting since the ladies around the town always go to Penelope first, though it is usually to upset her. How is my other half? I have been so kind to share her with you," Lily said, missing Penelope.

"She is wonderful. If you miss her, then you should visit her. You are always welcome at our home. I was surprised you did not join her today. Was there a fight I do not know of?" Tyrion inquired.

"No," Lily shook her head. "I have been ill and busy since I still need to find a husband. I have also been at my mother’s and sister’s side, but I will come soon to visit Penelope."

"She will be thrilled to see you. Your father mentioned Penelope’s pets. Where are they?" Tyrion asked, wanting to take them in his carriage.

"They are around here. The maids will need to catch them and bring them to you. You can go while they are put in the other carriage," Lily said.

Tyrion’s brow was raised. "Other carriage? I intend to take them with me."

Lily laughed since more space was needed. "It seems you are like our father. You will need more room, Prince Tyrion. We have many pets."
