The Dread Knight's Rage-Chapter 106: The Powerful Old Drunk
Jiaoying and Yari were racing through the forest in perfect sync.
While Yari flew, Jiaoying hopped from tree branch to tree branch.
As they rushed towards the last seen source of fire, their faces were fraught with a subtle worry.
Suddenly, they heard the sound of powerful hooves approaching from behind.
"Auntie! Other Auntie! I have arrived!!"
Yari and Jiaoying each nearly fell out of the sky when they heard the way Nila had referred to Jiaoying.
"W-We’re not there yet, child, so please refrain from saying something that will embarrass your aunt!" Yari cried in a shrill voice.
"I feel like I have missed something..." Raizel murmured from Scorn’s back. "Also, why am I thrown across this horse like some luggage!?"
"There was no time to explain the situation to you; it was easier to grab you and drag you out of your room!"
Jiaoying grimaces slightly. "Nila... you at least knocked, right?"
"There was no opportunity for pleasantries! I prioritized efficiency and speed over mannerisms!"
Sometimes, Yari was glad about her decision not to raise Nila as a normal elf. Others, she wondered if it was grossly irresponsible.
Today was one of those days when she was more inclined to believe the latter than the former.
"Would somebody PLEASE explain to me what is going-"
A blinding arc of light shot into the sky from up ahead.
Jiaoying’s pulse quickened. "Shit... It’s master."
Three simple words were all that was needed to send Yari’s heart sinking into her stomach.
The girls increased the pace of their race, none of them bothering to answer Raizel’s query.
Travelling into the rocky lands, they found a deep gorge alight in gold and white flame.
Lying in the middle of a large crater was a large creature made of molten magma.
And standing on top of him, hitting him over the head with a walking stick, was one very drunk old man.
*Thunk, thunk, thunk!*
"Why won’t you die, you filthy little buzzkill! Drink ruiner! I’ll send you back to whatever dreary hole you crawled out of!"
As Abel raised his hand to strike the creature again, the creature underneath him managed to knock him clear away and into an opposing wall.
Disaster got his hooves back onto the ground and stood up, groaning in anger. He intended to go on the hunt again, now that the old man was down.
But at the very moment he rose, the two halves of his body slid away from each other and hit the ground.
Disorientation finally sapped away his rage as he lay on the ground. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
His body was slow to heal. An annoyance he was completely unprepared for.
He crawled forward, digging his claws into the soil out of pure instinct.
"Solomon!"
Disaster stopped mid-crawl and turned his head towards the direction of the newest voice.
Four figures rushed toward him, but he did not recognize them. He unhinges his jaw and exhales a gout of orange fire in their direction.
Yari steps in front of the group and holds out her gem.
As the light shines to illuminate the night, the rain from nearby is instantly pulled in to form a wall in front of the vulnerable group.
A wave of steam washed over the entire canyon in seconds.
Jiaoying and Yari rushed through the smoke, uncaring of the danger.
Upon breaking through the steam, they found the body of the creature that had just attacked them lying on the ground, unmoving.
While Yari went to check on him, Jiaoying looked around for her master.
She found him lying upside down against a nearby wall, his legs in the air and his eyes shut.
As she got closer to him, she turned up her nose. The smell of alcohol leaked from his pores like a faucet.
Her master was so drunk it was a miracle he could walk. Let alone make it down here to fight a creature like Solomon.
As he turned over in his sleep to prevent more water from getting on his face, he began muttering incomprehensibly.
"Nugh... All I want is... two fat dwarven whores and some reefer to give to the fat dwarven whores..."
"..."
Jiaoying knew there was not a single person in the world who would believe that this man was possibly the greatest swordsman in the realm.
"Hold on, step back..."
Raizel climbed up Disaster’s rocky back.
Raising his fist, he punched the creature in the back and pulled out Solomon. Unconscious and burning hot to the touch.
"I-Is he alright??" Yari started to step forward.
"He’s fine, just sleeping, but touching him is definitely a bad idea at the moment." Even Raizel’s metal was beginning to turn bright red.
"W-Well, here. Put him on this..."
Yari created a floating bed of water to place Solomon on top of it.
As she and Raizel worked to get him settled, Nila swiveled her head back and forth between her aunt and Solomon’s unconscious form.
Yari was, for lack of a better description, undeniably prudish.
The fact that she was having no real reaction to Solomon’s naked body was completely uncharacteristic.
It took her another ten glances before the truth finally dawned upon her. And once she realized just why it felt so unnatural, her mind nearly shattered under the weight of the revelation.
"No... h-he was telling the truth?"
Yari looked back at her niece in confusion. "Nila, what are you talking about..? Right now really isn’t the time for-"
"Y-You! And Solomon! Canoodling! Putting your mouths on each other! Doing dirty human things!"
If Raizel still had a jaw, it would have dropped open at that moment. No wonder his brother had started to stay out all night without saying anything...
Nila raised a trembling finger and switched between her aunt, Jiaoying, and Solomon.
"T-Then that means you, a-and he, a-and her...!"
"Way to go, bro..." Raizel whispered to Solomon.
"Not the time for this discussion!" Yari yelled shrilly. "We need to focus on getting Solomon and Abel back inside."
Yari’s words went in one of Nila’s ears and out the other.
A short, quick sniffle escaped her nose as her eyes began to sting.
She looked at Solomon, her eyes full of tears, and raised her sword high.
"I won’t let you corrupt my Tee-Teeeee!"
