The Double-Chapter 641 - 193: He’s The One
Chapter 641: Chapter 193: He’s The One
Jiang Li exerted all her strength, yet she was unable to move. Her body felt as though it was no longer her own, and she couldn’t make any movement. At this moment, a tremendous despair suddenly burst forth in Jiang Li’s heart. She couldn’t save herself and there was no one to come to her rescue. It had been the same in her previous life, although she hadn’t had an affair with that man, the desperation she felt then was still vivid in her memory. Why, now that she had been given a chance to live again, must this nightmare recur?
It was even more despairing than last time.
The man laughed gleefully as he pulled away Jiang Li’s veil, but seemingly finding her current face too horrifying, he spat in disdain, "It’s a pity I can’t apply medicine to you first." He then replaced the veil on Jiang Li, covering much of her reddened skin, leaving only her lovely eyes exposed.
"Little beauty, your eyes are truly gorgeous," the man said as he eagerly began to unbuckle his belt. After shedding his outer robe, he hurriedly helped Jiang Li out of her clothes. His actions were far from gentle, more akin to those of a wild beast. The fabric ripped loudly as it slid off Jiang Li’s shoulders.
Her fair skin almost dazzled the man’s eyes, and with a grotesque laugh, he was about to pounce on her.
Tears began to stream uncontrollably down Jiang Li’s face, as if in a trance, she seemed to return to the moment of her death in her past life, with Princess Yongning’s maid strangling her neck, powerless to resist.
Just as she closed her eyes, suddenly, there was a loud noise from outside, nearly ringing in her ear. Jiang Li was startled, and the man on top of her also seemed taken aback. He stood up from beside Jiang Li—the commotion likely having alerted the people in the neighboring room. Jiang Li could only hear the sound of a door in the adjoining room being opened, presumably by the woman rushing over.
The candlelight in the room stretched and wavered the shadows of people. Jiang Li lay on the bed, unable to move. She was incapable of turning her head to see who had come, listening only to the voices of the man and woman, puzzled and on guard.
"Who might you be?"
Footsteps approached deliberately, unhurriedly. Jiang Li’s gaze, beyond the man standing before her, finally caught sight of who was behind him.
A young man clad in red robes slowly walked into the room. His boots were adorned with exquisite gold trim, and butterflies adorned the hem of his robe. Step by step, he approached Jiang Li’s bedside, his shadow growing clearer in the candlelight. He had a face that could be mistaken for a Spirit Demon’s, enchanting and alluring, but the man and woman merely retreated slightly, watching him as if facing a formidable opponent, making no move.
He stopped in front of Jiang Li.
In that moment, Jiang Li’s tears flowed freely.
In a situation where she was isolated and cornered, to suddenly find a ray of new life—a life force so powerful it could not be stopped, shining with a dazzling brilliance, illuminating the rest of her life.
The young man held a folding fan across his chest, his amber eyes captivating. The natural upward tilt at the corners of his eyes was particularly striking, and when he raised an eyebrow it was as if he could snatch away one’s heart. The teardrop mole at the corner of his eye, under the lamplight, was like the blood-colored butterfly on his fan pendant, bewitchingly enchanting.
"Who might you be?" the woman repeated. These people inherently sensed danger, and in the presence of Jih Heng, they were full of trepidation.
The young man glanced at Jiang Li, his gaze momentarily pausing on her exposed shoulders, but swiftly, he turned his attention back to the two people standing before him, his eyes still languishing, his mouth curving into a smile that was not quite a smile.
He said, "To pick on someone under my protection, you two are quite bold."
