The Destiny Villainess Wants Me To Work!-Chapter 101: Unfathomable...?
After Su Mo’s figure reappeared inside the car, he glanced toward Yang Qingxi. "Shall we go?"
Yang Qingxi gave a small nod and let Sister Xulin drive ahead.
The car didn’t stop at the main gate.
Instead, it glided smoothly toward the quieter side entrance. It looked reserved, discreet, and far from the flashing lights and restless crowd of reporters gathered at the front.
Maybe the car’s license plate number was already known to them. The security parted without a word, and the doors opened.
Yang Qingxi stepped out of the car. Her deep blue gown caught the soft ambient light, shimmering just enough to draw the eye without appearing deliberate. Su Mo followed beside her, unhurried, hands casually at his sides, as he had done every time before.
From the main entrance, however, a few sharp-eyed reporters noticed.
"They’re entering from the side—wait... who are they?" a young intern muttered, squinting as he tried to zoom in with his camera.
"They look amazing... are they celebrities?"
The senior reporter beside him let out a low chuckle, not even bothering to lift his camera at first. "Celebrities? Those things are worth nothing in her eyes."
The intern blinked. "Then... who is she?"
The senior finally glanced over, his expression turning serious. "That’s the princess of the Yang Consortium."
The intern froze, his grip tightening on the camera. "The Yang... Princess?"
"So amazing..." he murmured subconsciously before his gaze shifted. "Then what about the man beside her?"
The senior narrowed his eyes slightly, watching the two figures walk side by side. "I don’t know his identity."
"Eh?"
"But..." he continued, voice lowering with a hint of seriousness, "with my years of experience as a veteran reporter, I can say for certain—he is not simple."
"Can you elaborate?" the intern asked quickly, leaning in.
Even a few nearby reporters subtly edged closer, their curiosity piqued.
Seeing the attention gather, the veteran coughed lightly, straightened his posture, and spoke with confidence, like a teacher. "Look carefully. The way they walk together, there’s no sense of hierarchy between them. That’s not how a subordinate follows. That... is the stance of equals."
The others instinctively turned their lenses back.
"And that man..." the veteran continued, eyes sharpening, "he’s calm. Completely unfazed. Look at him—top stars are passing by, yet he doesn’t even spare them a glance. In his eyes, they’re no different from strangers. Not even worth noticing."
As if on cue, a well-known actress passed near the side corridor, her presence and beauty usually enough to draw attention instantly.
Su Mo didn’t even look.
He simply walked forward, a faint, lazy smile on his lips, his gaze drifting elsewhere entirely.
"..."
"Hiss—!"
A collective intake of breath spread among the reporters.
"That... that’s the actress of the year..."
"He didn’t even look?!"
"And those CEOs greeting Princess Yang—he just nods..."
"It’s like he’s giving her face, not them..."
The veteran folded his arms, nodding slightly as if confirming his own analysis. "Exactly."
At that moment, their admiration for the veteran replaced any doubt about his words.
"That man... is definitely not simple."
"Big scoop... this is a big scoop!"
"Forget scandals and concerts! This is way bigger!"
"Find out who he is!"
"Are you crazy? You want to offend the Yang Consortium?"
"...Then we ambush them carefully?"
"Idiot, that’s even worse!"
In the end, they could only watch helplessly, burning with curiosity.
Meanwhile, inside—
Su Mo had absolutely no idea about the storm brewing outside.
He walked beside Yang Qingxi, maintaining a composed expression.
[Why are there so many people greeting her...?]
[CEO this, chairman that... what are they even talking about?]
[Real estate... finance... cooperation... I don’t know any of those companies you guys are talking about.]
[Why did I even come here?]
[This is so tiring...]
Yang Qingxi’s lips curved ever so slightly.
She didn’t turn her head, but her eyes softened just a fraction, listening to his complaints.
A middle-aged man in a tailored suit approached them with a bright smile; his demeanour was respectful yet confident. "Miss Yang, it’s been a while. The last collaboration with Yang Real Estate was a great success."
Yang Qingxi gave a polite nod. "Chairman Liu. Your project’s execution was impressive."
"Haha, you flatter me," the man laughed, clearly pleased to be praised by her. "I was hoping we could explore more opportunities in the future."
"Of course."
Only then did his gaze shift toward Su Mo.
"And this gentleman is...?"
Su Mo met his eyes calmly.
"Su Mo."
Just his name. Nothing more.
Chairman Liu paused for a brief second, then smiled. "Chairman Liu Wei, of Tianhe Real Estate."
Su Mo nodded slightly.
[No idea what that is.]
[Real estate again...]
Then, with the same calm expression, he said, "Your work is good."
"..."
The surrounding air seemed to freeze for a moment.
Chairman Liu’s smile stiffened slightly.
Your work is good.
That was all...?
No pleasantries or attempts to build rapport. Not even an acknowledgement of status.
Just a simple, almost casual remark.
From a man who had just been introduced.
The nearby executives exchanged subtle glances.
Tianhe Real Estate.
A company worth tens of billions.
Yet this young man—
—spoke as if evaluating it from above.
Chairman Liu quickly recovered, but a trace of surprise lingered in his eyes.
This kind of tone...
He had only ever heard it from people on the same level as Yang Qingxi.
Could it be...
His gaze deepened.
This man... is unfathomable.
Around them, similar thoughts quietly formed.
Combined with Su Mo’s natural composure and that faint, almost ethereal aura that seemed to cling to him, he appeared even more mysterious in their eyes.
Yang Qingxi, standing beside him, said nothing.
But the faint curve of her lips deepened just slightly.
[Did I say something wrong?] 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
[Why is everyone looking at me like that?]
[Is "your work is good" not appropriate?]
Her shoulders trembled ever so faintly, barely suppressing her amusement.
To the others, it looked like her restrained elegance, acquiescing to the mysterious gentleman’s words.
And just like that, the misunderstanding grew deeper.
