The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor-Chapter 50: Wife and Child
After lunch, Little Yuna voluntarily took on the responsibility of washing the dishes.
Considering it was something she was capable of doing, Lynn agreed to her request.
Vivian watched Little Yuna washing dishes and felt guilty. She wanted to help too, but the family of three didn’t have enough dishes, so even after some effort, she only managed to wash two, and they weren’t as clean as Little Yuna’s.
Not being able to contribute to the household chores made Vivian quite unhappy. Although she was born into a noble family, neither she nor her mother, nor those little mothers, have done these tasks before. But since marrying... uh, no! Since visiting someone else’s home, she should... also wrong!
Ah~~ Why am I not even as good as a little kid...
Vivian sat on Lynn’s couch, feeling sorry for herself, pouting while watching Lynn tell stories to Little Yuna.
His storytelling was captivating, though they were fairy tales meant to trick kids. Despite Vivian not having seen much of the world, she’s not as easily fooled as a little girl.
"Knock knock knock~"
"Knock knock knock~"
The story was reaching a critical point when there was a knock at the courtyard door.
Usually, Little Yuna would happily go and open the door at this time, but engrossed in the story, she was oblivious to the knocking, showing no intention of opening the door.
Seeing Little Yuna so absorbed, Lynn didn’t want to leave, so he signaled Vivian with his eyes.
Receiving the signal, Vivian hurriedly got up, put on her shoes, and ran to open the door.
"Oh no!"
As Vivian dashed out of the living room, Lynn suddenly realized and exclaimed, startling the focused Little Yuna.
No "guest" would visit his home at this hour—his in-laws had gone home, and the neighbor’s grandma’s dishes were washed. At this time, who else but his wife and children would come?
It was Xiya’s first official visit, and I’m letting another wife open the door for her. Would she misunderstand it as some sort of power play?
"Let me do it!"
Thinking of this, Lynn hurriedly left Little Yuna and dashed out.
Luckily, Vivian was a rookie and wasn’t very fast. Lynn, using some of his skills, moved swiftly like the wind, arriving at the door before Vivian did.
"Coming, coming."
Once again using eye contact to signal Vivian to cancel the task, Lynn eagerly opened the front door, greeting his wife and children with a smile.
The door swung open, and indeed it was his wife and kids in Lynn’s sight.
The kid was familiar, but the wife wasn’t the one he had expected...
"Oh, Xiya, I didn’t realize you knew such a handsome guy outside!"
Catherine stood at Lynn’s door holding Little Youli, scrutinized Lynn who had rushed to open the door, then turned her head to tease Xiya, who was holding a cat.
"Xiya...Little Youli, and Catherine Mentor, please do come in."
Lynn stepped aside, pulling a curious Vivian to one side, preparing to welcome the two wives and a child inside.
"Huh? You know me?"
Catherine didn’t expect this stranger to recognize her. Seems like he’s a local; otherwise, despite her prominent name, outsiders and foreigners wouldn’t likely match her name with her face.
"Of course, once a mentor, always a wife; how could I forget my own career mentor?"
This was what Lynn said to Catherine’s face.
"I’ve called you wife for ten years; even if you turned to ashes... uh, even if you’re made up, I’d still recognize you!"
This is what Lynn thought behind Catherine’s back.
"Once a mentor... what are you talking about? I don’t understand... are you my student? Why don’t I have any impression at all?"
Lynn’s Otherworld vernacular left Catherine puzzled, but she didn’t mind the sentence’s meaning; she was more interested in Lynn’s identity. Although not normally focused on appearances, if one of her students were as handsome as him, she would have noticed.
"Maybe it’s been too long, and I’ve grown into a more handsome version over the years. In short, I was your student ten... eleven years ago, and you taught me the basics of warrior skills."
What Lynn said here was entirely truthful. He still remembered when he first changed vocations, completing the vocation task with Catherine before becoming a first-turn warrior.
Back then, Mentor Catherine didn’t have the mature charm she has now, but was youthful and radiant like today’s Vivian.
Back then, Lynn was still a budding rookie, barely old enough to legally enter the game.
Ten years in the game and a year spent asleep; seeing someone so dear again is truly a blessing.
"Eleven years ago? So you’re one of my first batch of students? How come I don’t remember?"
Catherine considered herself to not have a bad memory, especially with the first batch of students with utmost significance, she remembered each of them. Perhaps, as he said, boys change, growing more handsome, no longer resembling the half-grown kid he once was.
"What’s your name?"
"Lynn."
"Lynn... Really can’t recall..."
Catherine was speechless. She came accompanying Xiya to drop off the child, yet somehow it’s her looking for familial connection?
Never mind, forgetting isn’t a big deal; with over 1,500 students in eleven years, forgetting one isn’t so strange.
"Here, take the kid. I’ll take Xiya to grab a meal."
Catherine handed Little Youli over, and after Lynn took the child, she planned to leave with Xiya.
Though joking earlier, she truly understood Xiya’s nature—she wouldn’t eagerly approach any handsome cat-like man. Coming to deliver a foster child was just a part of her work, and after handing over the child, she’d definitely leave with her.
However, reality dealt a heavy blow to Catherine’s ample bosom. After handing over the child to Lynn, Xiya not only didn’t plan to leave with her but returned the three-colored cat she was holding and instead walked in herself...
"You go home first, I’ll come find you tonight."
Passing by Catherine, Xiya patted her shoulder and curiously glanced at both her and Lynn before stepping into Lynn’s residence.
Good news, Xiya knows to go home at night, not staying here overnight.
Bad news, Xiya sent herself here! Staying the whole day with the child and the child’s father!
"Wait a minute, I’m coming too!"
Seeing Xiya enter, Lynn hesitated as if wanting to close the door. Catherine quickly rushed in, squeezed past Lynn, entering a strange man’s house for the first time.
