The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 99: Chaotic City
Chapter 99: Chaotic City
Milenia and Aoi were asleep, leaning against the dungeon hallway wall again. They hadn’t woken up from their unconsciousness yet.
Aoi’s injuries were quite serious because of the direct hit from Milenia’s attack, while Milenia had passed out from the ice magic power that had taken over her body.
Now, for some unknown reason, the ice magic that once dominated Milenia had vanished. That caused Milenia to faint, and no one knew when their bodies would recover.
’Looks like I have to wait longer for them to heal,’ Agares thought.
Unlike them, the wound on Agares’s head had fully healed. The bleeding had stopped, and the pain in several of his joints was gone too.
Now that he has recovered, Agares can protect them better. He never knew what might happen next—maybe a bandit adventurer or something else dangerous could show up.
Staying alert and watching the area around them was the best choice for Agares.
He opened his personal system panel. Killing the monster earlier had given him some EXP, but not much. That made sense, considering two possibilities.
The first possibility: the total EXP was shared with Aoi. That was the simple consequence of making Aoi his pet.
The second: the EXP was also split with Milenia. Milenia had done a lot to help defeat the monster, most of the HP was taken down by her.
So, it was only natural that Agares didn’t get as much EXP as he expected, because now he was fighting as part of a team, not solo anymore.
"Alright. Looks like I need to kill all the small monsters to get more EXP."
A few hours had passed since the mini-boss had died. Aoi was the first to wake up from her faint state. Agares turned when he heard the fox groaning in pain.
He tapped his magic pouch and brought out one of his HP potions. He opened the bottle and helped Aoi drink from it.
Aoi drank slowly. Her body glowed slightly for the first few seconds, then the light faded and disappeared.
"How are feeling?"
"I’m better. Thank you, Agares."
"I’m glad to hear that," Agares replied.
Aoi looked to the side and widened her eyes in shock. She saw Milenia sitting unconscious, leaning against the cave wall. She didn’t remember clearly what had happened in the battle before, because she had passed out before Milenia did.
"What happened?"
Agares said nothing. He turned his gaze forward, staring at Milenia’s sleeping figure in her navy blue dress.
"It seems the one who attacked us wasn’t the Milenia we know."
"What do you mean?" asked Aoi.
"I mean, the one who took control of Milenia’s body was the ice magic within her, along with her mind and trauma."
"I don’t understand what you’re saying," replied Aoi, shaking her head.
"It’s okay if you don’t understand."
"What matters now is that we watch over her until she fully recovers."
"Can you help heal her?" Agares asked Aoi.
Aoi stayed silent. She stepped closer to Milenia and wrapped her white fox tail around Milenia’s wrist.
The girl began channeling her power into Milenia, and the blue patterns on her fur glowed brightly, a sign that Aoi was using her strength.
Agares stayed silent, watching, hoping Aoi’s power could wake Milenia up.
But there were no signs Milenia would wake from her sleep. Aoi looked exhausted after using half her strength for nothing. Agares handed her a mana potion.
"We don’t have a choice. We have to carry her," said Agares.
"But wouldn’t it be better to wait until she wakes up?" asked Aoi.
"Fighting while protecting her will be a big trouble for you."
Agares smiled and laughed slightly at Aoi’s words. He didn’t deny that it would mean twice the work—but he also couldn’t waste time waiting for something uncertain.
He didn’t know when Milenia would wake up. It could be in a few hours, or days, or weeks, maybe even months or years. No one knew for sure.
If Agares stayed in this hallway for months waiting for Milenia to wake up, that would be the same as killing himself by wasting precious time.
"That’s still better than doing nothing while waiting for her."
"Don’t worry. I can protect her."
"Because I’m strong!"
Aoi stayed quiet, looking at the optimistic expression on Agares’s face as he said those words. Agares was right—why should Aoi be anxious and nervous?
They had defeated the boss monster on floor 66. Their abilities had improved a lot. So, there was nothing to be afraid of.
Aoi jumped up from the ground to Agares’s shoulder. "Sorry for doubting you, Agares."
"It’s okay. I understand your worry, Aoi."
"Working together makes everything easier, right?" asked Agares, smiling.
"You’re right, Agares."
Agares and Aoi walked down the dungeon hallway with Milenia carried in Agares’s arms.
With or without Milenia’s power, he believed he could clear the floor easily. He had already beaten this floor and the ones after it—except for floor 75. So, he wasn’t afraid of anything.
To reach floor 100 and take the Lumen Astra sword, Agares would do anything, even if it meant protecting someone.
Because the Lumen Astra Sword and the title of 36th Divine Saber were his. He couldn’t let Arthur and the thousands of saber-hero knights be disappointed and die for nothing.
He had to become strong to destroy the Grand Empire!

City of Berdiver.
Kingdom of Caer Vireth.
A massive flame and screams of suffering continued to spread, turning day into blazing heat and night into day.
Everyone in the city tried to escape, begging for mercy and hoping to be saved by the hero-job knights.
But the reality?
They didn’t even look back. They treated the chaos in the city as a small problem that the local nobles could handle.
That was just an excuse. The real reason? They didn’t want to enter Berdiver because their power couldn’t match the enemies.
Yes. Among dozens of cities, only Berdiver was hit by chaos, fire, disease, and endless death. Louise led an army of undead—formed from the dead citizens—to destroy the city.
"Feel this, humans!" Louise shouted.
"This is what you get for killing the man that Princess Liel loved."
"AAAAARGGGHHH!"
The screams of pain grew louder across the city. People tried to leave through the city gates, but when their bodies passed through, their flesh and skin were ripped off, leaving only untouched skeletons.
"HAHAHAHA!"
"Tonight, I will make sure Berdiver is destroyed!" shouted Louise.
"Ms. Louise... please forgive us," said Casper Thorn, stepping out of his family home.
Louise turned her sharp gaze downward. She stretched her hand toward Casper and grabbed him with the shadowy hand of a monster. She lifted him into the sky and stared him down with intimidation.
"You were given endless resources by the demon clan, and you couldn’t even protect one person!"
"Pathetic! Disgusting!"
"If Princess Liel gets here, she’ll wipe out Berdiver in a single night!" Louise snapped.
"Do you even know who Agares really is?!"
"Let go of my father."
Leon shouted, staring boldly at Louise. He was the one who had foolishly pulled Cassandra and Agares from the Thread of Fate. So, he would take responsibility for Agares’s death.
"You... you killed Agares?!"
Louise descended from the sky and walked toward Leon, son of Casper Thorn. Judging by his face, Leon was a handsome man with great talent—it hurt Louise to kill him.
"Yes. So punish me and free the whole city."
"I will free the city if you help me."
"What?"
"Bring Agares back to life!"
