The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon-Chapter 209: No Self
Thump! Thump!
Dante’s heart pounded heavily in his chest as he felt his blood thickening.
Slowly, his new blood flowed through his veins and enhanced his body, increasing the value of his Vitality.
’It’s finally happening...’
That was the effect of his bloodline awakening with one more percentage, which raised his Vitality by 2 points.
And that was enough to break the cursed collar that surpassed his strength.
As Dante was lost in thought, a bunch of guards entered the cell with a collar and weapons. They immediately surrounded him, and one of them prepared the collar.
"You’re already here? I recommend using more chains." Dante mocked them as they approached him.
He couldn’t really understand them. What were they trying to do? Did they learn nothing from the previous times?
’Well, maybe they’re simply scared that I can do more things without the collar. Oh, it’d be funny to tell them the truth.’ Dante smirked and closed his eyes.
Ting! Ting—BAM!
The collar suddenly exploded under the sudden surge of vitality.
"Ouch." Dante and Aza groaned in unison, feeling the same amount of pain.
She covered his neck to keep it as safe as possible. The explosion wouldn’t have killed Dante, but it was always better to be safe.
Before the guards could make a move, Dante summoned his mask, recalling its first active ability.
⟨No Self⟩
⤷You have no self, therefore you might be anyone or anything. Once a month, you can steal the identity of anyone or anything so long as they have Fate. The duration depends on the weight of fate and the Mind stat of the mask owner. Requires having no Fate.
As the mask covered Dante’s face... the world suddenly froze before Dante’s eyes.
The guards that were surrounding him.
The explosion that covered his head.
The guard that was charging with a collar toward him.
The currents of the wind.
And even Dante himself.
Everything had entered a frozen state, and what remained was only Dante’s gaze and... feathers.
Every single individual in the cell had a colourful feather within their body. The feathers had different colors and sizes, and some even had unique appearances.
With the help of the mask, Dante’s gaze could bypass their skin and flesh, seeing those feathers directly.
His gaze could also pass through the cell and all the walls and ceilings of the prison. He could see the feather within every single individual in this place.
And beyond that, he could even see the guards and prisoners outside the main building. Those who were mining, those who were gathering various herbs and resources, and those who were standing on top of walls.
’Fate, huh?’
Those feathers were the fates of those people. All feathers had an uncountable number of strings attached to them, linking them with other fates.
Those fates weren’t only for living beings. There was the fate of the artifacts, relics, hills, and many different non-living things.
The mask’s ability allowed Dante to steal someone’s fate, and that required seeing them. Thankfully, the mask handled this step as well.
Now, he only had to... choose.
’The first time, I chose the closest guard.’ Dante recalled the past activations of the ability: ’The next time, I went further and chose the guards who were outside the cell.’
’I think I should give them a small surprise this time.’
Dante stared at a guard who was standing on top of a wall and chose him.
Blink!
After blinking his eyes, his vision immediately changed.
Instead of seeing himself in a cell surrounded by guards, he was holding a giant gun on top of a wall, wearing an outfit that had high resistance to radiation, which adjusted itself to suit his size.
’Oh, a gun? Not bad.’ Dante smiled as he examined the strange gun. It wasn’t a chaos gun, but it wasn’t a normal gun either.
Maybe it was made by the dwarves. They were supposed to be quite advanced.
"The wyverns are almost finished. Get ready to clean that mess."
Suddenly, he heard the voice of a man behind him. Looking at the source of the voice, Dante saw a giant holding a magical staff.
The giant noticed his gaze and turned around.
"Amanda? What’s wrong?" The giant asked while staring forward...
He wasn’t looking at Dante.
Dante wasn’t even three meters tall, yet the giant seemed to be looking at someone who was as tall as him.
In his eyes, he was looking at a giant woman.
In reality, Dante was the one standing there.
"As expected, even the height difference isn’t noticed." Dante said with a bright smile, not bothered by the giant’s confusion.
Now, he had the fate of the person called Amanda. In their eyes, he had her appearance, height, and even abilities.
He could now do anything, and the blame would go to her as their minds would automatically replace whatever he did with things that only Amanda could do.
If he used a shadow spell and she had the Fire Aspect, they’d see normal fire.
If he used a misfortune spell and someone could see the luck, the source of the misfortune spell wouldn’t be seen as something from Amanda.
It was as though the world itself would try to hide an error that occurred to its system using various methods. Dante, as fateless, was a loophole in that system.
But the chaos magic was the only exception for now. It was the only thing that couldn’t be hidden. And maybe the Silver Ether was also one, but apparently, the masters could recognize it, so Dante avoided using it entirely.
Immediately, the other guards stole glances at "Amanda" and the other giant.
The giant put a hand in the air, as though it was on someone’s head.
"Hahaha! Are you still mad that I made fun of your height? Okay, I apologize. Just focus on the wyverns for now and I’ll have a meal with you later."
Dante’s smile widened: "Sure. Just don’t regret it later."
The giants returned to observing the wyverns, which brutally continued butchering the abyssal beasts.
Thud!
Dante dropped the gun and brought his left hand to the trigger while aiming it. His second hand touched the giant’s waist lightly.
The giant turned toward him immediately: "What are you—!"
Before he could complete his sentence, a surge of chaos energy invaded his body through his waist.
BANG!
Simultaneously, a bullet covered with chaos energy shot from the gun, hitting the eyes of a wyvern and piercing it.
ROAAAAR!
The wyvern screamed in pain, its eye turning into a flesh bomb and exploding.
"AHHHHHH!" The giant fell onto the ground and screamed. His body mutated at a rapid speed, turning into an unrecognisable form.
"What have you done!" All the guards turned their heads toward Dante with shock and fear.
That... that was worse than it seemed.
"She used BLACK MAGIC!" A guard shouted with the loudest voice she could gather.
Once the others heard her, they immediately understood the meaning.
There was only one person in the prison who could do something like that.
"It’s the anomaly! His range surpassed our expectations!"
Dante raised an eyebrow and pointed in a specific direction: "Are you really going to focus on me and ignore the problem we have here?"
The guards followed his finger only for their eyes to land on the wyverns.
The one that was shot screamed in pain and scratched its own eyes crazily. Meanwhile, most of the other wyverns were already in the sky, and only a few stayed to protect the wounded wyvern.
And they were flying toward the walls, ignoring the abyssal beasts which they were supposed to kill. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The next moment, their roars and growls resounded through the air, making even the ground tremble with only their sounds.
ROOOOAR!
ROOOAR!
GROOWL!
