Chapter 1224: Luck Aura

Gao Yang looked around. Nainai, Adept Horse, Liao Liao, Gregor, Zhang Wei, and Hong Xiaoxiao were flying away. He didn’t even know if they were alive. The golden mirror was growing distant from Gao Yang, too. He couldn’t stop flying away. It was all he could do to watch Wang Zikai walk up to Lovely Lamb.

Raven Shark struggled to pick himself up against the mountainous pressure, activating Decaying Particles. Wang Zikai simply lifted one hand, and the particles swarmed back to Raven Shark, the yellow mist engulfing him.

He collapsed a few seconds later.

“Take this!” Old Seven, on his knees, exhausted the last of his power to shoot air bullets at Wang Zikai. Wang Zikai didn’t even dodge; the air bullets glanced off him, changing their trajectory automatically.

He walked past Old Seven, not even sparing the man a glance.

Old Seven threw up blood and collapsed to his death.

One Stone didn’t have the strength to use her Talents. Both hands gripping a Black Gold pistol, she raised it, but was unable to pull the trigger no matter how she tried.

With a simple wave, Wang Zikai sent One Stone gliding across the mirror before vanishing, her momentum unstopped without any outside interference.

Finally, he reached Lovely Lamb.

She had one hand on Tang Xiaocong and one hand on Sun Hu, and the two’s arms were put around Chen Ying and Dr. Jia. She had been absorbing damage from the four awakeners. With energy acting as an adhesive, the five of them had remained attached even when they were sucked to the Mirror of Pride from the ground.

Face covered in tears, Lovely Lamb stared at Wang Zikai with her teeth clenched, showing no fear in her eyes.

Wang Zikai didn’t make a move, but simply met her gaze.

Mirror of Pride alone was a lethal pressure to them. Added to that the terrifying authority radiating from Wang Zikai in a close range, it wouldn’t take long for all of them to die.

Lovely Lamb paled. Before Wang Zikai’s approach, she had been able to barely keep the four awakeners alive by absorbing their damage. She was the lifebuoy keeping them afloat. She had hoped to endure until the battle was won, and her companions came to their aide.

Rather than hope, however, what she met was the lifebuoy deflating and an overwhelming tsunami.

Blood trickled down from the corner of her mouth. She went boneless as she blacked out, her grip on her companions loosening.

The four unconscious awakeners lost their heartbeats.

They had failed to put up any fight from beginning to end. They didn’t even know what had happened. They died meaninglessly, insignificantly.

Wang Zikai didn’t acknowledge their passing.

He looked “down” at the night sky—at the world above the mirror. The black-haired man in the sky could only watch as his companions dropped like flies, unable to do anything.

Wang Zikai smiled.

See, Gao Yang? This is the ending of your choice.

...

A ring filled his mind. Gao Yang felt no sorrow or rage. All he could hear was the ring that haunted him nonstop.

Willful Heart!

He pushed his Agility to the limit. With three teleportations, he reached the unconscious Nainai and replicated her Gale. Then he shifted his stats fully to Willpower, propelling himself to Liao Liao, who had flown five hundred meters away. He replicated Cheating and put a new Golden Armor on her.

With Liao Liao as a springboard and Gale accelerating him, Gao Yang launched himself toward the golden mirror like a missile, ignoring friction entirely.

—Put all my points into Luck!

[Understood.]

—Activate Luck Aura!

[Burn 6000 Luck per second, for a total of 2.15 seconds.]

—Willful Heart, the third reallocation!

—All Strength!

After half a second, Gao Yang stabbed the golden mirror with the energy sword he had conjured with his Black Gold dagger as the base. Destructive energy explosions bloomed golden patterns on the Mirror of Pride. They spun and distorted at great speed like the starry night sky portrayed by a certain artist.

Luck Aura continued.

A second later.

—Find the bug!

Finally, the golden mirror cracked. Below stood Wang Zikai.

From Gao Yang’s perspective, he was trying to crack the golden ice to get to the man below.

From Wang Zikai’s perspective, the man below the ice was trying to break the ice, yet was pinned under his feet.

A steely face met an amused smile.

Another 1.5 seconds.

Absolute Defense, level 8!

Chains of Fate!

Universe’s Prisoners!

Golden energy rose from under Gao Yang’s feet. It roared and soared, engulfing all and ignoring all resistance. Not even the other side of the Mirror of Pride was exempt.

A golden pillar shot toward Wang Zikai, piercing the mirror surface and hitting the land below. Countless nebulae of different colors gathered. Golden chains of different sizes emerged to weave a cage along with the nebulae of stardust, trapping Wang Zikai and shrinking toward him.

Wang Zikai eyed him pityingly.

Gao Yang, at the end of the day...you aren’t lucky enough.

Wang Zikai snapped his fingers. The Mirror of Pride vanished, and so did the gravitational pull and repelling power it generated. The world returned to normal. Everyone fell to the ground. The pillar of fate built upon the mirror toppled like an uprooted tree.

The Chains of Fate lose their marks. While they should’ve been able to automatically adjust their trajectories and track their target, the great rule-based power lost its effect with Wang Zikai’s authority disrupting it. None of the chains managed to touch him. They couldn’t restrain him, let alone tie him to the pillar of fate.

Gao Yang could not do anything else.

Luck Aura came to an end.
