Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Xie Yunzhen, Are You a Beast?

Mingzhu was unwilling to leave with Yun Zhen.

But the man’s strength was too great; with just a bit of force, she was compelled to keep up step by step.

"Big brother, where are you taking Sister Mingzhu?"

Yun Ling was bewildered; what did Du Peilan’s broken leg have to do with them?

Big brother is bullying people again!

Yun Zhen turned back, his expression unchanged, and said: "Go back to the residence yourself."

Seeing Yun Ling wanted to say something, before she could speak, Yun Zhen added: "Whatever you fancy, put it on my tab."

Leaving the carriage and servants to Yun Ling.

Yun Zhen took Mingzhu onto another inconspicuous carriage without any markings.

Before she could sit steadily, Mingzhu attempted to jump out of the carriage.

But was caught by the man around her waist, "Where are you going?"

Mingzhu, with her back to him, couldn’t scratch his face, and stepped on Yun Zhen’s boot.

She was furious, using all her strength, not caring that he was the esteemed Young Master.

While she was merely an orphan relying on others.

"Feel better now?"

"Let go."

Staring at her beautiful white profile, Yun Zhen’s eyes were full of amusement.

"Let go? Do you want to evade responsibility and escape?"

Mingzhu once again witnessed his shamelessness.

It was clearly his and Du Peilan’s own doing, yet now they’re shifting the blame onto her.

Turning her head, she sneered coldly: "If Heaven has eyes, it should let you two miserable lovers face hardships together!"

Even though Yun Zhen was usually dense about emotions, he couldn’t miss the sarcastic undertone.

It’s obvious who’s facing hardship now.

Gritting his teeth, "Spouting nonsense, damaging Madam Zheng’s reputation, you’ll be doubly guilty."

Mingzhu’s mockery grew more intense, "Then stop bothering me."

Yun Zhen prided himself on being difficult, yet he didn’t expect someone to be even less yielding.

"Your attitude is improper." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Just meeting and speaking, how does that count as bothering?

Ultimately, it was her attitude problem.

Mingzhu inexplicably felt a bit amused; this person is truly blind to the truth to defend Du Peilan.

"My attitude is none of your concern, Young Master."

Yun Zhen quietly watched her for a few seconds, then finally knocked on the carriage wall, signaling the start.

Mingzhu grew anxious inside, "I don’t want to go..."

"It’s not up to you."

In her panic, Mingzhu instinctively tried to pry Yun Zhen’s hand away; with the carriage’s movement, she instead fell solidly into his embrace.

In the past life, even after marriage, they didn’t have this much physical contact.

Sitting on his lap, never happened before.

Yun Zhen appeared bewildered, the sensation on his thigh gradually becoming clearer.

Soft as if boneless, warm jade and gentle fragrance indeed felt like this.

In contrast, Mingzhu’s face was completely flushed.

From anger.

She fiercely elbowed Yun Zhen’s abdomen.

Compared to the battlefield’s bloodshed, this pain was insignificant.

Yun Zhen instinctively sensed something was amiss.

Mingzhu’s struggle also made her realize something was off.

Her expression stiffened for a moment, followed by the redness spreading to her neck and ears.

Gritting her teeth, "Yun Zhen, are you a beast?"

Yun Zhen’s mind was in chaos, quickly releasing Mingzhu.

With the carriage’s sway, she nearly fell without protection.

In a flash, Yun Zhen extended his arm to stabilize her again.

The soft sensation spread from his palm to his whole body, a feeling like being gnawed by insects erupting from his heart.

Something inexplicable also rose from his tailbone.

Yun Zhen’s eyes trembled, his breath became erratic, and the string within him tightened immediately.

Not wanting Mingzhu to notice his awkwardness, he used more strength and placed her on the side.

Coldly said: "Sit properly, no one will save you if you fall again."

The words weren’t pleasant, but Mingzhu was beyond rebuttal.

She now just wanted to keep away from Yun Zhen.

With clear thoughts, he shouldn’t be reduced to a beastly state.

But just thinking about Yun Zhen’s current state irritated her.

Yun Zhen harbors no affection for her, yet was unsettled by her.

Thus, the chaos of that past night, her pregnancy later, their marriage... none of it could prove she held a place in Yun Zhen’s heart.

In matters like these, men and women truly differ.

Realizing this, Mingzhu’s gaze became more complex, feeling her earlier curse was justified.

He is indeed a beast!

"What’s with your expression?"

Yun Zhen, rarely shy, retorted.

Given he hadn’t encountered such situations before.

Constantly reassuring himself, he’s a normal man; having no reaction to this would indicate ailment!

Seeing Mingzhu remain silent, Yun Zhen cleared his throat.

Weakly defended: "This princely heir is a normal man."

The statement had an air of ill-conceived denial.

"Normal men can just rut wherever they like?"

In a rush, Yun Zhen’s face turned red, as if bleeding, the flush reaching his collar’s seams.

Stammered: "Vulgar words, aren’t you a maiden? Do you know no shame?"

Mingzhu unemotionally stared back, "I didn’t do anything wrong, why should I be ashamed?"

Yun Zhen’s expression turned unnaturally, feeling guilty for the first time.

Again affirmed, "It’s a normal reaction."

He hadn’t acted, thus not committing any wrongdoing, Yun Zhen inwardly added.

Mingzhu did not respond.

Turning, she peeked out the carriage window as it passed along the main street, reaching the city gates.

Recognizing Yun Zhen’s carriage, the guards let them pass directly.

Du Peilan’s carriage followed, but was stopped for inspection; Mingzhu heard a frail female voice.

"I’m with the Princely Heir."

Yun Zhen timely opened the carriage window, sternly commanded: "Let her pass."

Saying this, instinctively glancing at Mingzhu’s expression.

She seemed to misunderstand his relationship with Du Peilan.

Yun Zhen never explained anything to others, but now he willingly spoke up.

"The Grand Tutor is my mentor; Madam Zheng is injured and taking her for treatment is a mere gesture, no ulterior motives, don’t overthink."

Mingzhu nodded dismissively, not absorbing his words.

Seeing this, Yun Zhen grew more annoyed.

Yet helpless against Mingzhu, unsure how to make her discard prejudice.

Mingzhu lowered her eyes, fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist.

Yun Zhen stared fixedly at her, both silent, the air deathly quiet.

Though Yun Zhen preferred tranquility, he now felt suffocated.

Even if Mingzhu shouted at him or got into a squabble, it’d be better than silent confrontation.

Lips parted slightly, searching for words.

An arrow tore through the air, "Thwang," hitting the carriage.

Seeming like a signal, assassins hidden nearby rushed in.

Yun Zhen had Hidden Guards; he sat upright, displaying no intent to alight the carriage.

"Scared?"

"No."

"Your breath says otherwise."

Mingzhu, lacking combat skills, how could she not be scared?

But she had to admit, Yun Zhen’s presence beside her reassured her quite a bit.

Du Peilan’s screams reached them, Yun Zhen’s expression shifted slightly.

"Stay inside the carriage."

In a blink, she found herself alone inside.

The clashing weapon sounds grew nearer, sending chills down Mingzhu’s spine, her skin pricked; she couldn’t help hugging her arms tight.

Is it the fear?

She truly felt so cold.
